Dave Grohl Buys Mine Collapse Victim A Beer

Foo Fighters/Probot band leader Dave Grohl recently met with Brant Webb, a victim of a mine collapse in Australia. Webb was trapped in a gold mine for 14 days after it collapsed in May.

While Webb was trapped, he had requested an iPod filled with Foo Fighters tracks and word got back to Grohl who promised to buy Brant his fellow captive Todd Russell a beer once he was freed from the mine.

that's definitely cool. when someone w/ money and fame goes out of their way to help others, especially at thier request is always awesome. not a fan of grohl's music, but im a big fan of this move on his part.

How about paying the guys rent for say... 3 months.
That'd be a sweet gesture. f*** the beer that's only a temporary relief (despite the fact that I'm a drinker).

Seems shallow.
I mean, anyone can buy anyone a brew.

If Grohl wants publcity, he should at least make it worth the band-width it takes up.

It's a minor gesture but you have to factor in pride as well....

The guy may not want so grand a handout or they may just be downplaying it...I would be fine with the beer (I've actually met Grohl and Hawkins at an acoustic show and signing 5 years ago, nice guys) but I would expect a little more from Grohl as well......

Though really he didnt have to do anything at all.

to post 4, how much publicity do you really think he is gonna get from this? im sure he could think of a couple hundred other ways to get more. also, i think his music sucks and he is a bonafide rock star. how many rock stars of his status would sit down at a bar w/ a fan that requested it, on the other side of the world? like remembermetal said, he didnt have to do anything at all....

Cool thing to do-I'm sure the guy was thrilled just to have Grohl hang with him...

Well obviously if the Foo Fighters were one of the guy's favorite bands, the cool part would be to hang out with Dave Grohl, not the fact that he got a beer out of it. Some people just don't get it.

I'll admit I did like the Foo Fighters awhile back but not a fan now. But hats off to Grohl. Much respect! And he probably just got him a beer because it's a complimentary gesture. I mean the guy could have died down there and being able to have a beer with a band that he enjoys is just amazing! And just think he could then say "yeah, when I got out Dave Grohl met me at the bar and bought me a beer!" Just really cool from a very big rock star!

Ya know, it doesn't seem like the guy asked for $$$, or anything but a beer. Can't blame Grohl for anything but doing what he said he'd do...
