Few MTV Video Music Award Nominations For Heavy Bands This Year

Band Photo: Avenged Sevenfold (?)
The only notable "heavy" bands nominated for 2006's MTV Video Music Awards are Avenged Sevenfold and 10 Years. Avenged Sevenfold was nominated for Best New Artist In A Video for their video for "Bat Country". 10 Years was nominated for Best Direction In A Video and Best Art Direction In A Video for their "Wasteland" video, directed by Kevin Kerslake.
You can read about all the rest of the mainstream nominations in the full MTV.com article.

I agree, MTV sucks big, juicy as*ses now. All they ever play is reality shows about young, retarded, hip-hop people who have the IQ of a lobster, and no common sense. And when they do play videos, its all about the URBAN hip hop crap that is taking over our youth~! GROSS! That whole scene and life style makes me feel hostile!

MTV is for the masses.
Once you realize that you can stop complaining.
Lorlor I agree - they provide the music fads. It also makes me feel rather hostile when I'm forced to listen to rap or hip-hop or radio pop... I'd rather not be auditorally raped, so I avoid MTV. If I do watch it, it's to find out what sucks in the music scene these days.
The metal they do play is - 9 times out of 10 - weak-ass whining made for those who aren't deep into the genre and never will be if they keep watching that junk.
Oh well. There are some of us who aren't sheparded by the popular media. Don't want to listen to what's "popular". Don't even want to be one of those kinds of people. Our tastes are varied, we shun the collectiveness provoked by bad (yet popular) music. Yet MTV apparently knows what's in... good heavy metal's not it, not in.

wow....you know I dont think I know the bands. (sevenfold, 10 Years) Well shows you how much people dont know about metal. and about all of you b****n, just dont pay any attention to this crap. I do agree that mtv has retarted shows, thats why i dont watch! YOU SHOULD DO THE SAME!

i agree mtv went f***ing gay when they started having reality shows and sh**... if its called music television then lay some f***ing music goddammit. and it should be more about metal instead of rap, hip-hop and pop. and there SHOULD be more A7X on that sh**...

THis f***ing drives me crazy..all the damn "Music" channels either play..pop or even worse rap/hip hop...i cant stand it! Avenged Sevenfold and many other bands are way better than this and they deserve more than being played maybe once or twice early in the morning.. I hope mtv can gets some sense knocked into them and cut all the lame a$$ reality shows that are 100% FAKE! and put some real hardcore music on..

i thought they said that two metal bands were nominated, well where the f*** are the metal bands? A7X and 10 years aren't metal, their pop-rock. funny, i read an article about how A7X was complaining that they wanted to be considered a legitamate metal band and wanted the teen magazines to quit featuring them in articles. THEN QUIT WRITING GAY TEENY SONGS!!! True metal was made for the underground to rebel against this putrid sh** anyway. but i agree, cable definately needs a channel dedicated to real metal.

Yeah cause I guess Vinnie paul and Dream Theater and Metallica all liking a7x calling them the new metal flag carriers means there not metal. The only people who have a saw about metal are the ones who have impacted the genre. And if they say a7x is metal than they are.

Which is why I stand by my opinion that MTV is no longer about music, and hasn't been for a long time. MTV sucks. There needs to be someone with the $$$ and the testicular fortitude to start up a cable channel that plays nothing but metal videos and concerts. That'll put MTV under, or make them realign their focus on wht the channel's name means.
