METALLICA has made Blender magazine's list of the "The 25 Biggest Wusses … Ever!" The list, which was published in the magazine's July 200 issue, "salutes the most awesomely wimpy musicians of all time." In the short write-up explaining METALLICA's inclusion on the list, the Blender editors state, "The haircuts were lame and the anti-Napster crusade lamer, but neither prepared fans for the soppy bitchfest that was 'Some Kind of Monster': The once-throttling metalheads dropped $40K a month on a touchy-feely life coach in a Cosby sweater who played master to METALLICA's puppets. Lars and James bicker and weep throughout, but neither has the decency to just go ahead and slug the other. Wussiest moment: Lars's ego is crushed by his gnomish father who, upon hearing a new song, sagely advises, 'I would delete that.'"

The only a$$ that Kirk Hammett needs to kick is the a$$ of the stylist that made him up to look like Prince in the Load album art. You can't even say that he doesn't look like that. It did become painfully obvious that image became their only means of rebellion anymore so they cut the mullets. I don't really care either way. I think that Metallica should line up outside of Mustaine's house and when Dave answers the door, they all start sucking his d*** and paying him for guitar lessons. Granted, the black album marks the beginning of their decline, but the wrote and recorded three or four of the greatest metal albums in history prior to that. Not that it matters, but they were once one of the hardest partying metal bands ever. If you want to hate them for growing up that is fine, but what the f*** does Blender know about metal bands anyway. We are talking about one of the greatest metal bands of all time here. Are you all too young to remember them in all their glory or what, jesus christ. Have some respect. 1. Bob Rock is the reason Metallica sounds like they do today. He convinced them during the Black sessions to "simplify everything" saying people were tired of the epic-style songs that actually defined them and is still looked at as their best work.
2. Kirk studied guitar under the wing of Joe Satriani. Enough said.
3. The liner notes/lyrics of their first two major releases(Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning) credit Mustaine's in co-writing a good number of the songs. Metallica and Megadeth would not exist without each other.
4. They used to put on a vicious live show. Saw them twice(Evening with & Summer sh**). Haven't seen them since ticket prices for their shows skyrocketed, so I don't know how they are now. When they stop taking stinkin' park on tour with them I might consider seeing them again.
5. Metallica need to go back to doing the kind of thing they did in the 80's. Long, non radio-friendly songs (even though now even the early stuff is being played on the radio; in the 80's/90's that was unheard of) and add in elements of everything they've done since. I have always liked bands that pushed the limits of musical creativity, but still remained true to what put them there in the first place. I'm not saying release another Master of Puppets, just take the musical aspects of that era Metallica and the musicality of later albums and combine the two. Changing and growing as musicians doesn't mean changing the music.

I love Metallica more than 80% of whats out there but they really have lost what it was that made them great (some would say Cliff)...I think they just got tired of the limitations they percieved in thrash and tried all that weird sh** in the 90's so they wouldn't feel like dinosaurs next to AIC and Soundgarden....Well, those bands are now extinct and Metallica have mutated even further...
I'm hoping Rick Rubin can squeeze one more memorable album out of those guys.....Cus Load forward is abysmal.

I'm a very big fan of metallica and yeah I wish they had the same attitude as in the 80's but they grown up. But if they were still into partying as they used to do, there won't be a metallica in the future. So I prefere a sober metallica, just for the fact that they are live the greatest band in the world. I have seen them last month, and you don't have to believe me, but they play faster than ever and they played only songs of the first 5 albums and fuel (not one song of St.Anger). I have good hope for their upcoming album and especially their new world tour that follows!!!!!!

"hardcore"; this rag is no different. If I want to read a metal mag, I'll pick up BW&BK, Pit, or any number of import magazines. I bought the Ride the Lightning albut after hearing Fight Fire with Fire on some lame radio show called "Turn Table Wars" back in 1986. That album totally blew me away. I hadn't heard any of the NWOBM bands, no Venom, no Motorhead, no Angel Witch. Fight Fire with Fire was my introduction to true non-commercial metal. I was, and still am, a die-hard fan of their first 4 albums. I can't tell you how dissapointed I was after that. They deserve all the derogatory "sellout" labels we can put on them. Good. F them.
