Slipknot Prepares "Fun" DVD, Planning New Album

Greg Prato reports for Billboard.com: Masked metal act Slipknot is midway through a year-and-a-half long sabbatical, but it doesn't mean that the band has been completely idle. A follow-up to its 2002 DVD, "Disasterpieces," will be issued shortly via Roadrunner, while songwriting for Slipknot's fourth studio effort will begin later this year.
"We're going to start getting back together and working on stuff," guitarist Mick Thomson tells Billboard.com. "The core that writes the songs tend to get together -- it's not as easy to work out stuff when you've got nine people standing in the same room. I would say we'll start working within the next few months. I've talked to [Slipknot bassist] Paul [Gray] a few times. Very slowly, no pressure."
Arriving sooner will be the group's next DVD release. "It's going to be different than our last one," Thomson says. "Our last one mostly focused on the concert, and this one is going to have a lot more personal stuff on it. You get to see more stupid sh*t [laughs]. There'll be some music and stuff, but you're getting to see what our days our like. It should be a lot more fun."
Although the DVD remains untitled and scenes are still being sorted out, Thomson already has a favorite. "A fan, I think in Austria, was drunk and out of line," he says. "He kept trying to come up on the bus, kept bothering people and then started to get a little bit loud and threatening. He had to be set down on his ass by someone close to us. Sometimes you've got to be put in your place, and he was put in his place."

I don't know about you all... But I'm looking forward to this new album. Even though Vol. 3 did have some mellow tracks, it also had some good gear grinding tracks. No matter what they put out I know, for me atleast, that it will be great. I wonder what thier new masks will look like?

woo-hoo! can't wait for the new album!
I would hope they wouldn't lose thier masks.. makes them more mysterious... plus you can see Corey with out it when he is playing in his other band... Mudvayne was quite creepy at times with their paint.. but love the music all the same paint or no paint... They kick AZZ!!!

whoa, this is rreally scaring me. Its been 14 posts and there hasnt been a single knot hater on here yet. i am really worried. I gotta say i am looking forward to the new album and i hope to see the DVD in stores soon. The last one was great but if you have been to a live show then you know what to expect. It was really enjoyable for me as i have not been able to go to any knot shows, gonna see stone sour on their next tour tho so that should be cool. Anyway i am looking forward to this stuff!
PS: Thank god Metal underground finally cleaned up the forums, they have really been degrading rapidly!

I cant wait for the new dvd either, i hear it comes out in october. I cant wait to see more behind the scene stuff about slipknot. The new album will be great no matter what i mean come on its slipknot. but i hope they do some heavier stuff, like i totally dug the slower stuff, but i fell in love with the slipknot of old. The self-titled cd was in my mind the best, their most raw and aggressive stuff. I think they will keep the masks just because it makes them slipknot.

to post 14, they didnt say f uck in every song, the previous albums were just alot heavier, there were some heavy tracks on subliminal verses but just when i heard the acoustic songs circle, and vermillion 2, i was like wait a minute, this is slipknot. not saying that its bad or anything, i just liked slipknot when they were alot heavier. i really dont think they should take off the masks, it would be interesting to see the differences, but i think they add to the live show alot more. and L.D. 50 was my favorite album by mudvayne and that was when they had the makeup, not saying that it made there music better, i thought there image was better without the makeup i just figured id put that in there

f*** slipknot, vol.3 and that horrible live album was the biggest waste of money its ever been my misfortune to buy! corey cant scream anymore like on IOWA, the greatest slipknot cd of all time. they didnt p***y out and sing like crybabies with their acoustic guitars on their laps. vol.3 ruined my liking of slipknot. my only question is WHAT HAPPENED? why did they sing and have acoustic guitars? they turned themselves from ok Nu-Metal to rock if anything. i hate hearing the kids who are like, yeah! slipknot r00ls! i lik3 th@t s0ng du@l1ty!! its s00 h@rdxc0r3!! and b3f0r3 1 f0rg3t!! that ones awsome! before i forget that!!!!!11. disaster pieces will be the footprints in the sand, they were good live then! it was amazing how great they sounded. now corey screams like he got his toe run over by a 10 wheeler truck and sounds like he has strep throat. vol.3 was a sh**ty cash grab, they sung to get more money out of evreyone. its unfortunate that i was still a fan when i got the live cd. how horrible it was. this is the end of slipknot. i will download a song off the cd to see if its even worth it(it probably wont). slipknot was better heavier. and they were better off keeping out the guitar solos that they cant play the same as the cd live. the solos sound differant on the cd because on the cd, they just hit random notes. RIP SLIPKNOT!
