Al Jourgensen Planning The Last Ministry Album

Band Photo: Ministry (?)

Billboard.com reports: Ministry's days are numbered, according to group leader Al Jourgensen.

Jourgensen, who has led the group and its numerous side projects since 1981, says that after Ministry finishes its current MasterBaTour, he plans to go right back into the studio for what he says will be "the last Ministry album." And, he promises, this is no cheap ploy to get attention for the band.

"I've got other things to do," Jourgensen explains. "I just started a label (13th Planet Records), and I want to sign some bands and really build it up like I did with WaxTrax in the '80s, not just a vanity label. I think it's time -- and I'll be leaving on the top of my game instead of hanging on too long and doing crappy Aerosmith and Rolling Stones albums 30 years later."

Jourgensen, who lives near Waco, Texas, says that like its two predecessors -- 2004's "Houses of the Mole" and this year's "Rio Grande Blood" -- the final Ministry album will be politically minded blast at the administration of President George W. Bush.

"It's a trilogy," Jourgensen says. "The next one's going to be called 'The Last Sucker,' and it's also about this corrupt administration. That seems to be my muse; everyone seems to think I write real shitty music when a Democrat's in office. So we'll do that one, and then me and George Bush go riding off hand-in-hand, into the sunset."

Jourgensen has plenty to do on the road these days as well. Besides fronting Ministry, he's opening the shows -- which are booked into late July -- with one of his other bands, the Revolting Cocks, whose latest album, "Cocked and Loaded," came out March 7 and features guests such as ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons, Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen and Robin Zander, the Butthole Surfers' Gibby Haynes and former Dead Kennedys frontman Jello Biafra. Jourgensen says that playing in both bands is rewarding -- but tiring.

"It sounded good on paper when I drew it up but, yeah, I'm feeling about 90 right now," he says with a laugh. "But it's cool. I can cut loose with the Cocks and then use the brain on the kind of focused agenda of Ministry, which is pretty much the same as anyone's dichotomous life."

They definitely have produced their best material under the Bush Administrations. Those 3 albums (so far) have been a great ride. They had some good songs during the Clinton years, but I thought most of the material was so-so. And of course The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste was good too. I think that was Reagan era (and not too political), but I could be wrong.

You're fu cking kidding me. You think without all these sheep singing about the same thing that Bush wouldn't have the rating he has? When no one really knows why we're in iraq anymore? Come one man. Kids that listen to this stuff aren't even old enough to vote. Ministry was awesome in the 90's but they haven't been relevant for 10 years. It's just another band seeing the mindless throngs of children chanting "bush sucks" and jumping on the bandwagon, but neither group really knows why they are chanting. It's all, "Mommy and daddy hate bush so I will too." Please. At least have a reason. Isn't hate for hate's sake what all you idiot retarded bush-bashers are supposedly against? Bunch of hypocrites.

Did Bush lose the last election? Ya'll are all a bumch of losers who can't get anything done. You give your lives to this crap and nothing changes. Losers. You're childish and hostile....and whether you support him or not that makes you just like our president.

Music with a message of protest is expression, period. Toby Keith and Ministry are moved by their muse one way or the other. If thats a source of inspiration to your music, sing it.....

For me It's refreshing to hear something in direct contrast to Fox news and fanatical Christians (scarcely better than Islamic car bombers). Thats all I hear in my state is rightist rhetoric, and I've been staunchly against it since before I could drive.

Just speaking for myself, I was raised in a household that has voted for Carter, Reagan, H.W. Bush, Clinton, Gore and then by default Kerry (Mccain would have been best ).....My views are my own and I'm of the mind the democrats and republicans --both-- are woefully equipped to guide America in the correct direction without checks and balances.

And the neo-cons are equal parts dangerous and a laughing stock. History will regard them as knee jerk reactionists who took advantage of a troubled era.

To close...
George W Bush is a failure.

music would go downhill since i hated Anismostisomina i thought that cd was a hardcore letdown compared to Dark
Of The Spoon and IMHO was i thought his best work a combination of Psalm 69 and A Mind Is A Terrible Thing To

I have to say I've heard some clips of the new one....It's quite a bit better than that mid-late 90's half hearted garbage they've released.

It has some truely funny moments, not just tongue in cheek or biting sarcasm...which is in great abundance as well. Best of all it's being direct on things that can't really be argued against by anyone.....lefty or righty...It's just being honest on the way things are (today) and in some cases have been for years....Don't know if I'm going to buy it but maybe some individual tracks off of iTunes.

Hey "Slayerrulz," before you get on your high horse about Ministry bashing Bush, how bout take a look at the recent Slayer post. Yeah, thats right dumbsh**, they are about to release their new album with a song from the Jihad point of view about the 9/11 attacks and if you will remember they also had Angel of Death, but I don't see any jews on this site b****ing about that. It's music and to agree with RememberMetal?, as long as they are inspired and people around the world are going to by their cds, then might as f***ing well play it. So before you go writing some sh** about Al, who, by the way, would make Tom look like a f***ing little biatch, take a look at your own f***ing favorite band you b**** a$$ little hypocrite. 25. Woods writes:

Any of you a$$holes arguing that artists can not be politically motivated must cut yourself off from art completely. It doesn't matter if art has a sizeable impact on modern politics. What matters is that there are artists willing to freely express their opinions - the core of their values - in an uncensored, abrasive way. Without dissenters through art, the masses would be completely apathetic. And for everybody who says there a bunch of "Bush Haters" out there, you're f***ing wrong. There are far too many people who prematurely criticize the political impact of musical artists and other counter-culture figures, curtailing a youth revolution like the one seen in the sixties. Therefore, for as much as people may say, "f*** bush," they sit complacent because little whiny b****es have a problem with people freely expressing their contempt for an administration that sends innocent people off to kill innocent people in the name of meaningless concepts for which this country doesn't even stand - freedom, equality, and the pursuit of happiness. While I believe that Ministry may be overdoing it with a trilogy of albums against the bush regime, I will not patronize without knowing sh** and say that they are doing it to cash in. This is f***ing Ministry. Whenever have they cashed in? If they were going to cash in they would have f***ing changed their sound completely. And to those asking to post with diminished usage of profanity - to speak eloquently one must use not only the "beautiful" words in our language, but also those deemed ugly and offensive. The exclusion of words based on their societal conotations is what is one-dimensional. And with that I say: Kentucky fried c*** muncher.

"to speak eloquently one must use not only the "beautiful" words in our language, but also those deemed ugly and offensive" - agreed, definitely. believe me, I do my fair share of cussing, too. It disheartens me, however, when individuals choose to express themselves with merely through the "ugly and offensive" words, without a proper mix of intelligent eloquence, as you put it. if a guy uses profanity alongside a well-versed vocabulary, no problems. if a guy wants to converse by basically listing each and every swear word under the sun - i don't find it offensive, just idiotic and a waste of my own time.

Hellraiser, while I've never served (wartime or otherwise), I have a veritable pethora of friends who have and still do, and they all support Bush. Now, while I've personally have lost sight of why we're in Iraq, those men and women carry more weight with me than you, Ministry, SOAD (who I couldn't stand before they started bashing) and even Lamb of God (who I love) and Slayer. I don't remember any of those folks picking up a gun and putting their lives on the line for freedom, no matter how you think it should be defended. Now I've come to respect the opinions of a few folks on here (psythe, RememberMetal? and few others), even if we don't always agree with each other, but I NEVER presume to speak for any of them. Likewise, you shouldn't presume to speak for those in uniform because they have more balls than you and me put together. Particularly those who have joined since the war began.

Well besides all the political positioning which DID come into metal with New Wave British Metal (Bruce d***inson is still one of my heroes!) I still think it definately has a place especially with hardcore punk and metal combining so much nowdays. I used to play in a hardcore punk band but was a metal fan long before that so I have more metal roots even if I played more punk. But combining political activism into the aggressive stance of metal and hardcore is at it's nature the best of both world to me. Not only are you getting a message regardless of the stance the given band takes (SOD as Anthrax members and others did for a joke for example, just to get a rise outta people; much as the respose that is coming from here with Ministry taking a political stance.) in order to illicit response...good or bad. I'm gonna get shot down likely for comparing hardcore punk and metal I know here but it's true, technically sounding I think both are so very close now it's hard to tell them apart (Well the kinds I listen to anyway, I'd be hard fought to tell the difference between A Dozen Furies whom is tagged metal and I love, and for arguements sake Atreyu whom I don't listen to a lot of but technically sound very similar in song structure and vocals...lyrics not withstanding. IF you don't believe me listen to and and compare.) Anyway back to the issue, I believe that by taking this route Ministry is delving into EXACTLY the right area they should be...Jourgensen by stating he will issue this as the send off for Ministry on the note it ends on I think is brilliant. Provided they don't change the sound and heart of thier music to do so it should be the most successful foray they'll have. I'm going to buy it not only based on the fact of well..it's MINISTRY but that because in doing this they ensure that their last hurrah ends on the tails of hopefully one of the most economically unsuccessfull presidential administrations EVER. I'll stay away from military cause that's a whole other bag but it definately plays into it. But there has never been another aministration that has seen THIS much turmoil on domestic soil and is STILL able to alienate not only the world but manage to accumulate the most attrocious trade debt the US has EVER seen and practise the most obscene free trade practises in history to "protect" domestic interests?! If that doesn't offer the ammo for some of the most aggressively fueled and awesome metal songs ever written...I don't know what will.
