A beef between Avenged Sevenfoldand the Dillinger Escape Plan is taking shape. According to Dillinger's MySpace page, a feud had been festering for several months when Avenged frontman M. Shadows turned up the heat during a recent interview, saying Dillinger "make sh---y noises and try to pass it off as music." "What about bands that make sh---y noise and try to pass it off as Guns N' Roses?" a Dillinger MySpace post read in response. "This guy and his merry band of musical clowns get more hilarious by the minute. M. Shadows' real name is Matt Sanders or some sh--." With that in mind, Dillinger say they've decided to change their stage names in derision. "So, in his honor, our new names are officially as follows: G. Piranha, Blaster Master Weinman, Bullwhip Benoit, Corpsef---er Pennie [and] Leafeater Wilson. Those are going to be the names on our new CD — 100 percent serious."

I'm completely with you there. Avenged Sevenfold has no right to question the musical abilities of The Dillinger Escape Plan. Avenged Sevenfold is very talented, but nothing compared to the likeness of D.E.P. But I guess that's the way the music industry works, some big mouthed a$$hole has to open his mouth to start some trouble to try and represent his band as something phenomenal, when really they're just like any other band in the genre.

Are you guys kidding me? THREE of the Guys From Avenged Sevenfold went to Berkley! Yes, I've heard Dillinger, but I've also heard A7x, and I gotta say they are more talented than Dillinger. Maybe it's cause I'm 24 and a music theory minor(major in finance) myself. But I gotta say A7X is awesome, maybe a little c***y, but definitely better musicians.

If you don't agree with that, don't waste your time reading anything else I'm about to say.
There is no excuse for anyone who either:
A.) Is well versed in music
or
B.) Likes something challenging with some depth....to like A7X more than DEP.
This may infact --seem-- biased but it's actually as simple as basic math.
A7X has been done before from 1983 to present 150 times. They are simple, cookie cutter, 80's guitar hair-metal embracing, Vince Neil vocal impersonating done-befores.
Makes me yawn...lots...

I feel bad for backing Dillinger because they love to pick on bands that they dont like: Korn, Wicked Wisdom, Avenged Sevenfold....but if I were them it would be hard NOT to say something....
Those bands ARE terrible.
And A7X DO make a habbit of lashing out at other bands first....

As for comparing the two bands, it comes down to a matter of opinion. I truly think Avenged is more musically talented, their songs are nothing short of epic. As for technicality maybe Dillinger is better, but Avenged truly has some songs that are extremely difficult to emulate.
It's all a matter of opinion, once again.

I think the comment about the Berkeley school of music is absurd. There are a lot of bands who have not been trained in such a setting. Many musicians who are trained are horrible and do not acheive success.
Moving on, feuds are absolutely childish. The singer of D.E.P. could have been the grown up in the situation and could not have not responded to M. Shadows' remarks, but he did anyways. Honestly, I think the singer of D.E.P. is trying to stir up publicity for his band since they are not as well known as A7X in mainstream rock. And from what I am seeing, it is working in D.E.P's favor because this supposed feud is all over the place!
I have not listened to D.E.P. as much as I do A7X, so I can't compare the two bands musical talents. However, let me reassure you, the fans of A7X are not all under the age of 14 (yet).

Debating the -skill- of the bands is next to impossible.
Short of an actual "battle of the bands" where we test the limits of their speed, dexterity and ability to improvise we can never truely know who are the stronger musicians....
However, I know DEP's vocalist has more range, more voices and greater spectrum of lyrics. When Dillinger writes new songs they aren't actually even able to play them for weeks. They have to build themselves up to the capacity to perform them. Too complicated and fast.
I KNOW A7X don't push themselves that hard.
A7X are for pre-teens, pop-music fans and people who are new to metal.
Everything Avenged Sevenfold do has been done by someone else first or has been done better.
They are todays Poison and Motley Crue and they will be forgotten and ridiculed in 5 years.
In my humble opinion A7X are as disgraceful as Limpbizkit.

A7X aren't bad musicians. They are very good. But they are also VERY boring. Their music is safe and pop-friendly. So much so that people who listen to the Emancipation of Mimi also own City of Evil.

Seeing Dilinger live is believing but you wouldn't put yourself in that kind of danger. DEP shows are on par with Slayer shows. Not that people have ritualistic cherry bomb fights when DEP plays but people still get f***ed up.
The biggest threat at an A7X show is getting smashed between the stage guard rail and a wall of fake tits from the superficial trend following fanbase who are no better than Posion's groupies.

As musicians A7X are very good. But they are not as versatile as DEP and they are targeting people like you.
Three-four years ago you had no idea who A7X were... You can lie to me and tell me that you were onto them in 2001 but --most-- of their fans only know them from the radio TRL and or MTV....
I'm actually glad a rock band is in the popular spotlight that doesn't sound like Franz Ferdind or Korn but that does not make them entertaining or metal as far as I'm concerned.
And if you think popularity is a gauge for how good a band or singer is, by your logic Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson must be better than A7X to you.

Avenged was on tour and had been the opening band for DEP. When DEP was asked about Avenged's success they talked sh**, bottom line.
