Gold-certified metalcore outfit Ice Nine Kills have begun rolling out their new single, “Play Dead”, a horror-themed collaboration with the popular asymmetrical multiplayer game Dead By Daylight.
The partnership adds another chapter to the band's long-running fascination with horror culture and media. Dead By Daylight itself has a history of crossing over with heavy music, having previously collaborated with Slipknot and, more recently, Iron Maiden.
While pre-saves for “Play Dead” are now live, the song's music video has already premiered. The clip debuted on June 14th during Dead By Daylight's 10th anniversary livestream event, giving fans an early look at the collaboration ahead of the single's wider release.
Beyond the music itself, Ice Nine Kills will also be represented within the game through a selection of themed cosmetic items, including character outfits and shirts, which become available starting June 16th.
The band are also teasing a continuation of the project dubbed “Part Deux”, which is slated to premiere on June 26th. Adding to the anticipation, legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk appears to be involved in the upcoming installment and introduced the premiere of the “Play Dead” video.
Meanwhile, the anniversary livestream also revealed another crossover between Dead By Daylight and Iron Maiden, with a new in-game cosmetic inspired by the band's iconic mascot, Eddie.
