I have been a huge fan since the beginning and have gotten every album, and gone to a lot of shows and i was personally disappointed with the new release. They seemed to sort of go back to their roots with this album which i liked. Although, they have seemed to greatly improve from album to album, but this one really wasnt anything compared to the last few releases. But you still have to love them

I also have all of thier albums, and think this is the best one since the first release. I like the heavier songs they write, and even though the slower melodic songs are good I was really disappointed with "Seasons"
The first 4 tracks and "last song" (#8) are really good.

I dig it all.. From the opening song "Hero" to the acoustic closer "Shadows in Red"... Definitely an album that you benefit from listening to all the way through rather than playing track to track.. Although Home will always be my favorite album from this band for it's diversity, "Next" is a welcomed addition into my music collection. "Next" fits right in between "Home" and "Animosity" as far as the sound of the record goes... Sevendust fans will love it... and hopefully it'll turn some people into new fans.

It's a good album, In most respects better than Seasons. The ballads don't measure up to "Angels Son", "X-mas Day" and "Skeleton Song", but it's f***ing Sevendust, not Bon Jovi, you listen for stompy 4 minute anthems....
The album actually collapses under it's own weight as the first 3 songs are f***ing priceless. Classic Sevendust.
Crunch heavy guitars, thundering kick drums, and vocal contests between Morgan Roses screams and growls against Lajon Witherspoons crooning and roars....
Theres not alot of change here....It's Sevendust retreating from the last record "Seasons" mostly, and recovering from the loss of a limb (Clint Lowery: Guitarist, Vocalist, Song writter).....not a wound easily fixed on one album.
"Pieces", "Hero", "Never" and "Ugly" are worth getting the album alone. The oddly punchy semi-hardcore "The Last Song" really grew on me (mostly the chorus, the verses seemed a little too barky and sparse, lyrics were too obvious as well...their just fuming at their departed guitarist) I could have done without "Shadows in the Red" (though the acoustic intro set a great tone, the lyrics just kinda dropped the ball for me) and "This Life" may have been Sevendusts most "meh" song ever.....
Hard to say I'm trying to listen to 14 new cd's at once...I may sing a differnt tune one way or another but as of now thats my spec on the this cd. Better than "Seasons" less impressive than "Animosity" "Home" and debut.....
I give it a B....almost B-...good not great, and can't touch Animosity or Home.
