Anthrax Guitarist: 'Without Reunion Tour, It Would Have Been Impossible For Us To Continue'

ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian has commented on an article in the latest issue of Revolver magazine in which vocalist John Bush appears to distance himself from the possibility of ever returning to the band following the group's decision to reunite with their previous singer, Joey Belladonna.

In a posting at the band's official web site, Ian had the following to say regarding Bush's comments:

"Nothing has changed because of an interview that we all participated in four months ago. What it doesn't say is that without this reunion tour, the band is over. No new record, nothing. It would've been impossible for us to continue as ANTHRAX. This tour is a bridge to the future of this band. Don't bother speculating on it. It's all going to come down to the music. We'll start writing and see where it takes us just like we've always done."

In a later posting, Ian elaborates further on his statement, saying, "[The comment about] not being able to continue relates to us not flushing another two years of our lives down the toilet. That's all I can say."

Weird message. Anthrax can not continue with the Bush/Vera /Caggiano/Ian/Benante-line up??? W.C.F.Y.A. was and is a great album. Vera and Caggiano are busy metalheads allright, but I think the line-up above is far better and more mature then the reunion-lineup. But if it so, it so. I am curious what the next step/album will be like. Hope to hear Bush sing again soon. In Armored Saint of a new band or together with Ray Alder on a new Engine-album maybe.

i think that the we've come for you all lineup is the best ever with bush/cabggiano/bello/benante/ian a lot better than the reunion lineup. belladona singin is really f***ed up and spitz was a great player but 10 years is too long

i dissagre. the reunion line up is heavier and better. never was a fan of the bush era.
among the living is one of the greatest albums of all time.
anthrax is real thrash metal not one of the newer and less heavier bands like shadows fall who people say is thrash metal when they really are metalcore.

I knew this was going to happen the minute I heard of the reuinion. The joey years were great, but Bush took them to the next level. One of the best frontmen of all time. the best we can hope for is that Armored Saint kicks it to high gear now! Bushes departure is truly a sad day for metal.
