Taproot had respectable beginings but their lyrics were always very "dear teenaged diary" angst. Kind of like Weezer on steroids....
POD are the most trite thing ever: "God Praising Rap-Nu-Metal."
Staind are the real losers though because they really did --lose-- something. They were a force, they made angst sound vicous, not like snotty-tissue cry baby water works gothy indie My Chemical Romance.....
Aaron Lewis sounded like he really was at an impasse where he was deciding whether to off himself and end the misery or linger around and cause more damage to himself and others.....
Now he lectures. How noble.....He gives advice..
"Dont go down this path kids, it's lonely and dark"
.....How very non-visceral....He means well but it lacks anything in the ball park of conviction.

B-L-E-H!!!!!....P.O.D still EXIST!?!?!?!.....
ik...
Why?
To what end?
The only member of that band that ever mattered was their original guitarist. I hope they're truely in it for the love of making music themselves because otherwise the world doesnt need them anymore, and I know their golden cash cow days are loooooong gone, since like....'02 I think.....
And Staind, talk about a nosedive......
From two great albums (Tormented and Dysfunction) to one decent and massively commercially successful album (Break the Cycle) to a so-so record (14 Shades of Gray) too meaningless garbage (Chapter V)........I know as an artist it's important to grow and evolve and if leaving the original source material is part of that maturation it's understandable......
But Staind havent grown, they're creatively dissolving and it's sad.....More sad than than any of Aaron Lewis' very sincere and impressive songs from just a few years ago.....It just proves how commercial success and aging kills most bands with promise.
