According to ZakkWylde.com, Black Label Society mainman and Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde has issued the following statement regarding the ongoing war of words between Iron Maiden and Sharon Osbourne:
"Although I'm a huge fan of the Iron Maiden band and their music, I have a problem with Bruce Dickinson talking shit about America and more personally, about the Godfather of my first born son."

i dont really know about this whole situation..its pretty gay...however, waving the 'british' flag at Ozzfest or watever, doesn't make a whole lot of sense. We realize thats where ur from...but I don't believe Soilwork, In Flames, and Arch Enemy were waving flags around ? were they..
but this whole thing is a waste of time

sycness14, you constantly make an a$$ of yourself. the fa**otry really needs to stop. STOP IT!!
and for the record, jibba is right, it was all sharons petty scemeing and such that started all of this.
and "salla", i think its EXTREMELY obvious by now that Iron Maiden's flag waving is part of their set, and has been for over 20 years. watch their dvd's. everytime they play the trooper, the flag comes out. Soilwork, Arch Enemy, and In Flames do not wave the swedish flag around during their shows simply because they do not have songs about any historical war in their country. Iron Maiden are not going for arrogance with the flag, just historical awareness, so to speak.
And if I am correct, Iced Earth waved the USA flag at the beggining of their European shows for the Horror Show tour. And the europeans were decent enough to not cause a ruckus about it. Why? because its a f***ing flag, get over it.

Hey I like Maiden and all, but if I was given the oppurtunity to pelt some english b**** drapped in a british flag with eggs I'd be down with that. Who gives a flying f*** who you disrespected I'm throwing eggs at your b**** a$$ because its immature and exciting.
Ohh and as far as what Wylde says about it all hes fit throwing crybaby so it doesn't really matter
Maiden and Ozzy should be given due respect dont get me wrong or anything, but their sh** isnt made of gold, next time we need to pelt both bands and blame it on all the angry boys in girls clothes at the show.

wow, fa**otry huh....people just need to stop talking about this pointless sh** and quit giving this gay little band more publicity.....they got eggs thrown at em', someone f***ed with their equipment, haha so what. They should get over it or do something about it.

I concur "sycness14". It is pointless to bicker about an event such as this. I’m not big on posting many comments on forums and things of the sort, but I have to comment on some of this thoughtless and mundane criticism I read so much of when things like this happen. Everyone who has posted comments here are entitled to their opinions, but these comments and questions ARE NOT directed to anyone on this page, but ARE meant to be taken as unbiased and based on rational thought.
I grew up listening to both artists, and still enjoy their music today. But let’s all just sit back a moment and apply some “good’ol fashioned logic” here…so to speak. Think about this as my first point: How many random people you know go to a concert, festival, shindig, etc, and plan to bring eggs to throw at band or artist they do not like (remember this is premeditated now)? Although it is quite possible for someone to do so, but in this case the statistics would have to be close to 0.0%.
Now I know what some would say to what I just wrote, but I’m trying to be neutral and trying to analyze this so others can think about this situation rationally because I know there are some biased fans that look for an outlet, such as this whole Ozzfest vs. Maiden dispute, to vent their opinions. Now, I love Ozzy and I love the festival he has created (of course I disagreed in decision with some of the bands he has enlisted in past Fests). I enjoy watching The Osbourne’s, and I also love listening to Iron Maiden. I have no problem or dislikes with either of the two; which brings me to my second point: If you think about it, the eggs had to be distributed prior to Maiden’s performance, right? The bottle caps and whatnots are acceptations. Now, I don’t know all the details that have taken place behind the scenes that led up to the egg throwing, “Ozzy!” chanting, and sound problems; but if Bruce is the problem and has been a prick as Sharon has stated, disrespected Ozzfest, and has disrespected America, well why continue to tour in America for all these years? If the problem just occurred on the Ozzfest tour, why wouldn’t Sharon be mature and professional enough and just ask them to leave the tour instead of resorting to childish pranks and premeditated antics to discourage and make Maiden’s performance look bad? If these bands have to sign some sort of contract, then my comments are becoming less valid and I can see the fulfillment of that kind of obligation. If Bruce has a problem, he should talk to Sharon about it. If Sharon has a problem with Bruce or with something he has done, Bruce should be the root of resolution. I hope I’m making my point here.
In conclusion, who knows what the real reasons were that lead to these events at Ozzfest, but I’ve come to the conclusion that things could have and should have been handled with more maturity and professionalism. Those of you who are familiar with the episode of The Osbourne’s where Sharon and Ozzy were throwing food into their next door neighbor’s yard for being too loud should know that it was pretty immature of them to do that; and now knowing what has taken place at this years Ozzfest leaves me to believe that the chances of eggs being thrown at Maiden while they were performing seems very likely. Hey, if that episode of The Osbourne’s was scripted to do that, then that just makes my point even more valid now. Now I know what happened on that episode of The Osbournes seemed funny and looked as though their neighbors deserved it, but REGARDLESS of who did what and who is at fault, I don’t think anyone at Ozzfest (fans who were in the crowd that is) were out to get Iron Maiden that evening; if they were, then I’ve spent all this time writing these comments for nothing. If you don’t like a band or what a person is doing or has done, walk away and come back when they are finished. If you don’t want to do that, then sit there and entertain yourself or your friends until someone you want to see can command your attention and respect. Thank you to anyone who has taken the time to read my comments. If you don’t like my comments, that’s ok. If you want to leave a comment about it, you can leave your comments after mine and proceed to tell me so. If you do like my comments, let me know if you want. Thank you again for you time. Keep metal alive!

id like to say that while it was lengthy, that was quite a remarkable post, spiritus, and you brought up some good points.
its obvious by now that bruce does not like america very much, but i think the rest of the band do like this country, which would reveal why they still tour here. why should bruce ruin the fun for the rest of the guys in the band?
im a huge fan of iron maiden, but im positive that my feelings are quite unbiased. bruce has really been less of a problem on ozzfest then sharon makes him out to be. on stage, he has made some sudgestive remarks about "not needing a reality tv show" and "still making music, not just touring for money". These are obviously directed at ozzy and the sabbath guys, but honestly, it needed to be said. bruce was bringing up quite a point. i dont really see those remarks as "prickish" either. and it certainly was not a problem.
in my opinion, sharon overreacted. and to top it off, she acted extremely childish, with the eggs and whatnot. a stern conversation with bruce would have been enough. and what did she expect, that the crowd wouldnt get mad when the obvious main atraction of the night was egged and sabotoged?
well those are my thoughts at least..

I agree with MARCUS that what Bruce said was true, and I'm glad that he had the
B A L L S to say it! By the way, he loves his American Fans, it's Corporate America that he hates...............Corporations like Wal-Mart and now (sadly) Ozzfest.
I think it was pretty convenient for Sharon to wait until the LAST SHOW to pull her little stunt. Why then? Because had her actions occurred earlier in the tour, MAIDEN may have left, or refused to play, (regaurdless of the contract.) leaving her holding the "empty money bag" and having to explain to and refund to countless angry fans. Nobody could replace Maiden the way Bruce had to replace Ozzy on a few occassions. It is painfully obvious, even to a stupid HO like her, that IRON MAIDEN was the main attraction for the fans. I think she just sealed Ozzfests' fate. Ozzfest is a mix of old and new METAL, and you can't get away with dissing a band like MAIDEN and then expect the older fans with most of the money to return next year. I think her crap made most of the fans look down on Ozzfest. Sorry if the truth hurts, ya kiddies.
EVERYBODY SHOULD CHECK OUT MEGADETH IN GIGANTOUR!!! You really get your money's worth there!
Remember, Metal is not just a sound, it is a way of life!
As always,

Hey, METAL MOM, you are so right on! I bet you could kick Sharon's crusty old A S S and make a pretty D A M N killer reality show out of that!! Poor Ozzy....he was on drugs when he married her. He probably has to take even more just to wake up next to that skanky HAG! I think that IRON MAIDEN'S Eddie looks better that her.....he's a H E L L of a lot cooler and way more Metal than her!

16. writes:
Thanks Mad Duke......EDDIE is my favorite member of IRON MAIDEN! Yeah, I know, some say he's not real.......................but little do they know!! Eddie made me by my first MIADEN album back in the day. We need more mascots like him! He is WAY better looking than Sharon! His complexion is clearer and his hair is still his natural color!
Once again,

This Ozzfest stuff is unbelievable, and it sure seems the public is being left out on a few things here. Does anyone know WHY all this happened? Nobody seems to be saying anything about what Bruce said to piss Sharon off so much. Holy crap, this kind of stuff is what happens in elementary school, and the Osbourne camp should be ashamed of themselves.. They better have had a damn good reason to do what they did, but it sure wasn't very professional. What a load of crap, but I think Sharon has finally done herself in here with her big mouth.. Poor Zakk, he is a great guy and a great guitar player and he's kind of stuck in the middle here. But I think standing up for your friends when they did something blatantly wrong makes you as wrong as them :/ Sorry Zakk.

Ozzfest IS a corporate s**t-storm. That's why I quit going. I went this year for Iron Maiden and Mastodon. Both of those bands rocked. However, I was disgusted by what ozzfest had become since my last visit. Bruce was right. He doesn't hate Americans, he hates 8$ beers and 40$ T-shirts and all the rest of that.
21. writes:
It's f***ing pathetis that Zakk has to use America as an excuse for being p***ed at Bruce. America should be left out of this. Bruce has waved his Union Jack for 20 years, it's part of the show. Those offended by that obviously know nothing about our worlds history and what the flag and the song represents.

23. writes:
hey, we americans have should already know that every other country an evvery other person in the world hates us, for xmple; the rest of the world LOVE soccer, WE think its for little girls and cc's, its the same thing in this case, d***inson doesnt hate america he just hates the corporation all of that green day , good charlot, and all of those made up bands that some guy in a suit created, lets face it america has sold out to corporation since metallica's black album and the creation of mtv, AND reality shows, you know what Fu** that, that was the only thing bruce was trying to say F-all of you that say he is a diva, he is just english, and the flag gag , ooo please he's been doing that since the F-ing 80's, if you think sharon is right and maiden is not: F*CK U, you are a corporate sell out and probably own some cd's from green day, good charlotte, my chemical romance, avril lavigne, blink 182, those are not rock & roll OR even less heavy metal bands, WHY??, because they do what they are told to do, just like you listen to what you are told to listen, you never heard maiden, or priest, or slayer, or even sabbath on tv or radio like all of the crappy bands of today (most of them) and you never will because they are real heavy metal bands even ozzy who i dont hate co's i know he cant think for himself because of the dope but for those sl*ts of sharon & kelly i only have to say this to them: WHEN YOU DIE I WILL GO TO YOUR GRAVE AND JUMP AND DANCE UP AND DOWN LEFT TO RIGHT FROM THE JOY AND HAPPINES OF SEEING YOUR DEAD SPOILING FAT BODYES, AND IF HEAVY METAL I AS THEY SAY SATAN'S FAVORITE MUSIC THEN HE PROBABLY FEELS AS ANGRY AS WE FEEL I HOPE HE TORTURES YOU FOREVER IN HELL TILL THE END OF TIMES, AMEN.

24. writes:
from one metal mom to another...YOU GO GIRL! You stated it very eloquently, and you're right about Megadeth on the Gigantour...They tore it up! I believe Sharons' behavior made her and the Ozzie camp look like the fools, didn'[t need tos tick around to see any more of that crap! Maiden rocks!

Some say Ozzy/Sabbath are #1
and it s u c k s that Bruce supposedly dissed 'em
Some say Maiden is #1
and it s u c k s that Sharon attacked them
BUT THE MAIN POINT IS:
THE FANS ARE #1
and The FANS were the ones who were disrespected and endangered the most!
Sharon and her followers will never have a good excuse for treating the fans like that!
Okay, now everybody has said their opinions
NOW IS THE TIME TO TAKE ACTION!!
CONTACT OZZFEST AND DEMAND YOUR MONEY BACK!!
Even if you weren't at San Bernadino,
THE S H I T T Y SOUND SYSTEM alone is enough to warrant a REFUND!
If no refund is given, then everybody get together for a
CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!!
Ever hear of "Reckless Endangerment"?
How about "Consumer Fraud"?
I am sure there are lawyers out there just waiting to jump on this one!

The only thing about all this that really bothers me is the fact that both sides seem to be getting a little juvenile about the whole thing.Sharon's behavior was highly unprofessional (assumeing the rumors are true ... I don't doubt it). However by the same token rumor has it Bruce was not exactly the ideal tour mate.So f*** it let them both whine and get it out of their system's or just f*** AND GET IT OVER WITH ! The last thing METAL need's is a premadonna b****ing match.

This whole situation is ridiculous.Iron Maiden,Ozzy/BlackSabbath and Zakk Wylde are all among my favorite bands but Sharon Osbourne just showed Ozzy is the only one in the family with half a brain. What an unproffesional thing to do.Whatever her beef with d***inson did she ever consider how her little pranks ruined the show for the fans who paid big bucks to come to OZZfest? That seems lost in all this.I know I will never go to another Ozzfest....hell you dont even know if Ozzy is going to show when you go to one anyway....Sharon should be thankful they had a top metal act like Maiden to cover for Ozzy when he cant get his voice to work. If she disliked d***insons comments during the shows she should just make a note not to invite them on anymore Ozzfest tours not have her croonies throw eggs at the stage and cut the sound. One day Sharons gonna wake up and realise no one cares about her egocentric crap.

a man of few words, zakk must be, if that is his entire statement.
im kinda tired of people using the arguement against bruce "because he talks sh** about america". we all know no one cares about america, and their just looking for reasons to attack bruce.
except zakk does seem like the patriotic type, so i dont know...
