Chevelle Joins Fight To Save Historic CBGB
Chevelle have joined the fight to save legendary rock club CBGB. All proceeds from the August 4th concert, "An Evening with Chevelle," will be donated to the "Project Save CBGB" campaign.
The famed New York landmark is in danger of losing its lease and closing its doors forever. "For the past three decades, CBGB owner Hilly Kristal has provided a safe haven for rock & roll," says Chevelle vocalist/guitarist Pete Loeffler. "The list of artists that have performed at the club is endless, and many of them, including The Ramones, Quicksand and Living Colour, are responsible for launching a thousand careers. This club is part of rock history. We can't let it go quietly."
CBGB is currently battling its landlord-the Bowery Residence Committee (BRC)-to renew its 12-year lease, which expires on August 31st.
Chevelle is currently touring in support of their acclaimed new album, "This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In)."
