Disturbed Post New Single Online
DISTURBED's brand-new single, "Guarded", has been posted online at MySpace.com.
"Guarded" is the first single off the group's upcoming third album, "Ten Thousand Fists", tentatively due September 20 via Warner Bros. "Guarded" was released to U.S. rock and metal stations this week, and will also be included on a sampler distributed at this summer's Ozzfest, according to Billboard.com. The band's fully promoted first single, "Stricken", will hit radio at the end of July. The title track will be featured in the Electronic Arts football video game "Madden 2006".
As far as where the band stands among its contemporaries, vocalist David Draiman told Billboard.com, "I don't even know that we necessarily belong within 'metal' anymore. Any metal that we identify ourselves with is old-school. Today's metal is very different. It's the second stage of Ozzfest, and it's a place we no longer fit.
"LAMB OF GOD, ATREYU, SHADOWS FALL and KILLSWITCH ENGAGE are very talented, and there's a lot of talent and rhythmic quality to what a lot of these vocalists are doing, and a lot of creativity and lyricism going on," he continued. "But to me, songs in general need to have powerful, compelling, engaging melodies, and not just a rhythmic, aggressive, animal-like vocal, which believe me, I drop into from time to time. You don't see bands like JUDAS PRIEST or IRON MAIDEN, or even PANTERA, nowadays.
DISTURBED will spend much of the rest of this year and next on the road. The group will begin a six-week tour the first week of August and in November, will headline the Jagermeister tour, which will be limited to House of Blues venues, with multiple nights at each stop. Following that, DISTURBED will top the bill on the third Music As a Weapon tour.

wow some of you people are weird. You who said that Disturbed needs to "work on it"... how dare you? Unless you are a member of Pantera or Black Sabbath you have no right to say that they need to work on the sound of their songs. Anywho..."Guarded" is one of the best Disturbed songs ever. It is melodic yet still metal. I say keep up the good work!!

yay someOne finslly likes me!! i am not the only Disturbed fan in the world! I dont see why people who dont like Disturbed are on this site. Its ridiculous , if you dont like the band dont read the articles about them. JEEZ. Besides Disturbed is one of the only GOOD rock bands around right now.

Well as far as im concerned they still have that nu-metal sound ala korn but the riffing on that song is
a little more "real" metal oriented and the singer definitely could have a metal voice as
long as he stops screaming like a chimpanzee like I said they might be a good band
down the road they are heading in the right direction.

23. writes:
real metal? theyre not trying to be like anybody else and what if we like him sounding like a chimpanze? I think it makes them sound unique, the way david sings sometimes. and as for you "metalhead R" why are you on this page? if you dont like disturbed then why do you come here? i just dont get it....

sarah definaltly fits the current trend of non emo losers in the world today. i would bet if she is a she she cannot see a good thing in front of her face. listening to this trash "metal" proves that! probably a freezer queen as far as EMO goies. listen to real metal and live!

27. writes:
Eww, Pigpiles, and Metalgawd, you have given your opinions, fairly, but quit insulting Sarah about her taste in music.
Sarah, Metalhead R is on this thread stating that for the same reasons I infiltrate all the Korn threads saying they suck. Because we can and we will.

Arent Korn and Disturbed fans often (not always) one in the same.
What is it people get out of harassing fans of bands they don't like. Your not going to convert them, the fans are going to go on liking their band......
I'm guessing it's the same reason people break bottles, 'cus their parents tell them not to and because they like the sound.
The most you can expect.....is to make some Korn or Disturbed fan who is like...8, cry....You might even feel bad if you saw the kid get upset in person.
Talk about making an impact...yay! someone in Delaware hates "MEEEE!" cus I told them their band are p***ies....
hehe.

thank you to those who have stuck up for me you guys rock....ok how is disturbed white trash? theyre from the south side of chicago not the middle of kansas, trust me they are not white trash. i really could care less if ur on this thread, but it still makes no sense whatsoever....i like korn a bit but not taht much all i know about them is that head left the band and that johnathan davis is creepy looking...and yes, i do hate emo. it f'n sucks!!!!!!!!! all emo peole do is whine about how their girlfriend broke up with them and how they wish that their stupid girlfriend would take them back whereas metal says oh that idiot broke up with me oh well ill just smack her one the next time i see her. that is cool REAL music...thank you and goodnight. and as an aside to jimbo...are you a disturbed fan or not ? you make no sense...

As a former citizen of the South Side of Chicago(I'm from Chicago Heights/Park Forest), I can say that not all people from there are white trash, in fact, if you could find me a white person from the South Side, I could say that they are a good citizen and not "white trash."
Before anyone gets on my back about that being a racial statement, let me say this:
IT WAS NOT A RACIAL STATEMENT! Truth is, there aren't as many white people in Chicago as there used to be, I wasn't being a racist.
Anyway, yes, that's what emo is about and I'm sick of it. I can't stand bands like Taking Back Sunday, Hawthorne Heights, and The Used.
Jimbo, please make your point and try to make sense, otherwise, no one is going to pay attention to you.

I've met a number of Korn fans who like Disturbed and Disturbed fans who like Korn...I'm not going to buttheads with anyone on their talent, it's very much evident....Might "some" of this love for Disturbed be due to the fact that you hail from the same city?.....
Kind of like how you root for the home team at a baseball game?... Just asking not trying to provoke, it just occured to me that Disturbed are a windy city band.
I picked up nothing racial about your last post either.

34. writes:
Thank you. It wasn't a racial statement, I just know that some people will percieve it as one.
I wonder what baseball team Disturbed roots for? They're from the South Side, so they're probably Sox fans.....bleh.
No, I do not like Disturbed because they are from my hometown. I like them because they rock.

35. writes:
that was so not a racial statement...i have family in chicago so i have been there and there are not a lot of white people there...,thank you brokenwings for not liking emo. besides country its the stupidest genre around....trust me i know white trash, as much as i hate to admit it, im from kansas and my grandma lived in a trailer park. now THAT is white trash. I like Disturbed b/c theyre Disturbed and now i like chicago more because of it.

36. writes:
I also have family in Chicago too, mostly on the South Side. I lived there for 9 years, in a mostly Italian community.
It's ok if you're from Kansas, we're all from somewhere. You haven't seen white trash until you come to West Texas, not only do we have hillbillies, rednecks, and hicks, we have white trash. Which is a combination of the aforementioned groups.
I really miss Chicago though. Everything was so great, and then we moved. Hopefully I'll find a University to go to up there.

FIRST: I just found this site a week ago, thanks for breathing life into it, deathbringer, (oxymoronish, don't you think?) and anyone who helped you.
SECOND: Having to witness the near-death-experience of metal as a teenager in the early/mid 90's i'm happy that Disturbed, and bands like it, are even around at all. I think the new tune's pretty f***in cool.
THIRD: ...and bear with me, I'm almost done; I'm from Brooklyn, NY but I've spent most of my life in Sullivan County (small upstate towns!) and have been all over this f***in state which leads me to the conclusion: white trash and cool people co-exist f***in everywhere!
...and rock on, metalmaniac.

DISTURBED F'n ROCKS! Theyr (in my opinion) the greatest METAL band. David is an incredible singer, Dan is an awesome guitarist Fuzz was cool but John can and will be as good and probably better than Fuzz (even thow Fuzz was cool) and Mikey on the drums is outstanding! This new album is gonna be so cool and 'Guarded' is an awesome song if u know what good music is. I cant wait for the new cd to hit stores..

whoa, metalmaniac is old!!!!!!! that's like me marrying a chick that's gonna be born in 10 years. and, no no no no no you haven't seen white trash til you visit lakeside. it's about 25 miles north east of the southern border of california and it's amazing how many mexicans make it through there alive. just kidding

hey bigg perm, i dont know how u say he doenst use the whole fretboard. if u'v heard the song 'Remember' and heard the guitar riff to the chorus ud hear that hes goin all over the fret board in one song. and the song 'Dehumanized' demonstrates that too. but even if he didnt use the whole fretboard it wouldnt matter because its not about what ur playing or where u play it on a guitar..its if it sounds good and when dan plays it does sound good so..

Disturbed kicks major a$$ i live on the southwest of chicago just like them i mean alot dont like them but i loved their 2 albums alot they didnt dissapoint me at all yet and i doubt they ever will i think that david draiman is badass cuz his voice makes the band sound unique and sound different from every other metal band and hes the 1st ever metal guy to put music into voice like stupify and down with the sickness you dont hear anyone sing how he sang in those 2 songs and how he just sings in general and i do agree with people when they say that their just getting started and i think that their new album is gonna be badass i honestly think their new album 10,000 fists its gonna make a big impact in the metal industry but everybody has different opinions and my opinion is that i love disturbed and their my number 1 favorite
