Will Smith To Join Wicked Wisdom On Ozzfest?

Jada Pinkett Smith is set to infuriate heavy rockers even more as she considers including hip-hop husband Will Smith in her Ozzfest tour plans.
Ozzfest headliner Ozzy Osbourne caused controversy earlier this month when he added the actress' metal group Wicked Wisdom to the touring festival.
Enraged fans suggested the move would cause a riot when they sent hate mail to the Ozzfest website - and now Pinkett Smith plans to add insult to injury with an idea to bringing her husband onstage.
She says, "We're thinking about it. He's really become a real metalhead lately. He fell in love with Otep (heavy metal group) the other night, so that was really interesting. He wanted to get in the pit.
"Now he's all excited and wants to be down with it."
Whether or not the Ozzfest dates come off for the Hollywood couple, Smith will join his wife and her group when they tour Europe in November (05).

In one of the most unusual summer-tour pairings in recent memory, the Ozzfest Web site announced Monday night that there will be one final act added to this year's second-stage lineup: actress Jada Pinkett Smith's rock group, WICKED WISDOM.
The addition of the Christian-leaning rock-and-soul hybrid to a summer touring package that boasts ferocious metal merchants like BLACK SABBATH, IRON MAIDEN, SHADOWS FALL, MUDVAYNE, IN FLAMES and THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER is unexpected, to say the least.
WICKED WISDOM is an EVANESCENSE-esque act that Pinkett Smith, the band's frontperson and the wife of actor/rapper Will Smith, has said is influenced by ANI DIFRANCO, PRINCE, TORI AMOS and SEVENDUST. The group also includes a guy named Pocket on guitar, another fellow named Rio on bass, keyboardist Cameron Graves and drummer Satnam Ramgotra. This summer's Ozzfest stint will mark WICKED WISDOM's first North American tour: The group primarily performs club gigs in and around Los Angeles, although it has opened for PAPA ROACH and was the support act for BRITNEY SPEARS' 2004 European tour.

Every festival has one or two sh** bands, whether its a rock, hip hop, punk or metal group. race isnt the question it's style and genre. There are a great many hip-hop acts (the Roots for one) that take a rock or classic blues angle to their music that goes largely unattempted by the rest of their contemporaries.
Same with the hip hop thing in metal, only in the late nineties it managed to takeoff and become its own thing for awhile on the backs of bands like RATM Limpbizkit and Linkin Park.
Now, due to oversatuation and highly convoluted 4th generation acts, that sub-genre isnt just stale it's bones are bleaching in the sun. As they should be.
Popular rock is now dance-pop-rock, garage rock, the ever durable pop-punk, emo and to a much lesser degree metal-core.
The point is that there is always (and this is for the best) bands and solo-artists tinkering with outside influences and even if you don't like something like a country-metal band (i dont but some do) or a klezmer-industrial-salsa-hardcore band...............there may be a market for that somewhere.
Either way it takes a million sh**ty bands to experiment with other musical styles before some act stumbles on the right formula and gets it right.....and im going maintain a safe distance from whatever nonsense the wife of will smith has to bring to ozzfest.

I find it odd how adding Wicked Wisdom to the Ozzfest line up is such a problem (?). If you don't care for the act , don't buy a ticket. I am not so crazy about the 'brother" or his wife performing at the show. I just would rather hear "real' metal, I just don't enjoy rap/rap metal or R & B. People like that are most commonlly racist, those people --NEED-- a bad guy...and Pedro or Rashawn will do just fine.
Other racists come in affluent white skinned neo-con homes. These are people who don't see much of of the "colored folk" as they call them. So when they see a guy with darker skin pigment crossing the street they lock the doors of their 2005 Mercedes GasChugger XL. These people also have an entrenched theory that because they are college educated they are correct in their media and family induced fears. The culture divide between these kinds of people and the African American community is so outlandish and well documented entire movies and sitcoms have been based on it.
Then theres the sad and gigantic number of people who are subconsciouslly racist. They have nothing against other races and even tend to get along with them pretty well, but their less likely to hold a door for a African American guy or thank a Hispanic waitress for her service...this can also amount to smaller tips, increased hostility in a discussion, and getting pulled over by cops, AKA racial profiling.
Will Smith doesnt suck because he's black, he sucks because his music is pure cookie cutter kid safe pop. The man has decent acting cred though, so he has my respect in that regard. Jada is more of a concern due to the sheer fact that she opened for Brittney Spears, this will not be a band that sounds like Lamb of God, Trivium or some other Ozzfest candidate.
And since racism per capita increases the further south you go, exempting some regions, the more likely Wicked Wisdom + Will Smith is going to be poorly recieved.....that and they probablly WILL suck.
