Metal Underground.com Celebrates Four Years Of Metal News
It's been four years since Metal Underground.com went live and began delivering heavy metal news to anyone who stumbled across the site (click here for the very first posts). Developed in the final days of my single life, I launched the site in test mode before departing for my wedding - perhaps as a way to commit myself to moving forward with the site upon my return; I don't remember because married years seem twice as long as single years ;-).
Building a site and community is quite an effort - from actual coding and database design to search engine placement to getting your URL out there and links back to the site, and finally getting readers to come back often by keeping the content up to date. While delivering non-stop metal news the entire time, I've been slowly but steadily making improvements to the metalunderground.com.
Metal Underground.com would not be where it is today without its dedicated staff of contributors. I've seen staff members come and go, but in the past year or so, we've really had a stable core of dedicated contributors serving up loads of good metal news, interviews and show reports on a daily basis. In that time, due to the diligence of these people, Metal Underground.com's audience and sense of community has grown tremendously. I want to publicly thank all of those contributors (past and present) and all of the metalunderground.com readers out there who have made this a fun and worthwhile "hobby" for all of us who enjoy working on it and reading it.
As the metal scene regains its strength in the passing of nu-metal, we're even more enthusiastic about bringing metal news and reports in the years to come. Keep visiting for your daily does of metal news and stay tuned for some more new features that are on the way.
KEEP METAL ALIVE! \m/

Keep up the good work and be aware of the serpent with green. I'll be here to make sure you don't stray to far from the road.

I love your site and everything that it stands for. Ive just been gettting into metal for the past 3 or 4 years and this site has helped me greatly to understand what it is like for a true metalhead to belong to someplace. this site has brought forth new bands that i have started getting interested simply from reading reviews and what not. keep bringing the metal and soon we will take over the entire world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay! heres to another 4 years(and beyond that) Time to celebrate
{{shots of everclear for all}}
I remember when i turned four!! My parents bought me a s big SMURF BIGWHEEL...
It was the best thing EVER....I promptly took it outside to show off to my friend(Jimmy).....who was, of course, a year older than me and had an-honest-to-god ten speed...so i did what other "smart" 4 year old would do...
"I CHALLENGED JIMMY TO A RACE"
so we thunder down my drive way and he's letting me win as we get half way down the street...i turn my head to yell something to the effect of:
"your moms a poo-poo head and i'm gonna win"
when i turn my head forward all i could do was read one of the first words i ever learned to read......
Ford
I had a head on collision with a parked 1.5 ton pickup
2 heads were lost that day......i had to go get something like 81 zillion stitches for leaving half my forehead on the metal bumber of a monster truck...and the smurf head on my big-wheel shattered within 20 minutes minutes of being unwrapped...
so i assume Metal Undergrounds 4th b-day is going to go much better than mine......congrats and thanks go to the site guys and all the psychos, jerks, hotheads, music critics / fiends, the occaisonal mellow-fellow voice of reason and of course the funny shhits who say things (on purpose or accident) that make me want to come back for more than just the awesome super prompt news headlines.....cheers!

Congrats on the four years. Thanks for everything. Working on this site is one of the best things I've ever done. You rock.
Ooooh, I remember having a Smurf tricycle as a kid! My parents never got me a bike though. I must be the ONLY person who doesn't know how to ride a bike... So...yeah...
brokenwings: How did your cake blow up?

Can and WILL poke fun of his limited vocabulary Negatyve_One...I assume you like Type O Negative, i must commend your excellent taste if thats the case...Bloody Kisses and October Rust were decisive in keeping me into metal during the reign of grunge and (pop) punk.
