After cancelling a Denver tour date and then cutting short a recent Austin show after only three songs, the rest of Motorhead's impending shows have been in question.

Today the band issued this update about cancelling two more gigs with the intention to return to live stages down the line:

"Regrettably Motörhead have had to cancel their Dallas and Houston appearances. Saxon will still be playing in each city (please check local media for up-to-date venue information).

"Lemmy fully intends to resume touring duties as, and when, his doctors give him the all-clear. STAY TUNED FOR FURTHER UPDATES, and as always, THANK YOU for your support, understanding and good wishes."

Motorhead's new album "Bad Magic" saw release last month and is now available everywhere.

As a fan, I hate seeing Lemmy suffering through his failing health like this, and would think that the best thing for him would be to hang it up. I don't want to see him collapse on stage, regardless of how "metal" it would be to go out like that.

However, trying to see it from his eyes, I can understand why he's pushed himself so hard. There's the image he's maintained for well over 40 years, but it goes beyond his public persona. What else has Lemmy done? Motorhead has been his sole career focus since '75. Almost every other aspect of his life has grown out from that. If he were to hang it up, what else would he do? Maybe that's a question he doesn't want to answer. As arguably the oldest living metal musician, he's the elder statesman. I think he feels it is a responsibility and privilege not taken lightly. It's a badge on honor and he sees himself as a metal soldier. Even his fascination with WWI and II likely influences his commitment, so he wants to go until he simply can't. He'll give his 100%, because in his view, there is no other way.

I gotta feeling they wont be here the 9th as well. I only spent 20 bux for the balcony seats but I'm glad if Saxon would still play.

Drum_Junkie is absolutely correct. Pride and determination are keeping Lemmy on stage. I haven't had the honor of getting to see Motorhead live and really wish someday I could. Just not at the risk of losing Lemmy on stage. He has nothing left to prove and has hopefully taught these young bands what real devotion and dedication really is. My prayers are with you and hope to see you guys as soon as you are able.

I was at the show in Austin. Lemmy has loyal fans and the critics can go f*** themselves.

He had the balls to face the audience and tell them.

I have seen Motorhead four times. Each time was different. The two times in Austin were like having a bulldozer run you over. Absolutely awesome.

If you ever see a show where they are not the headliners, don't go, wait! I once asked a sound engineer why the lead-in acts don't sounds as good as the headliners. He told me that this was contractual. I don't know if that is true, but every time I've seen them as the main act, my ears ring for three days.

The mayor of Austin declared that March 8th was "Motorhead Day." Hopefully, his touring days are not over.

I know he will do what he wants with his life, but I know what it is like to smoke tobacco with Type II diabetes. You have to give that up in order to survive. Since Diabetes is a vasoconstrictive disease, smoking adds to the problems, particularly getting your breathe. Don't mind the liquor, but it needs to be monitored as well. It is hard to change your lifestyle, particularly when it is as rich as Lemmy's legacy.

MOTORHEAD, forever!

Great show the other night. But Saxon stole the show.
