Cynder Loses Bid On Ozzfest Tour
Triad metal band Cynder's bid for a coveted spot on the Ozzfest tour ended Monday night as MTV viewers voted Dallas' A Dozen Furies winner of the reality show "Battle for Ozzfest."
Cynder, which recently changed its name to CYN but is called Cynder on the show, was chosen out of hundreds to be one of eight bands on the show.
Asheboro's Ryan Camp, the singer, spent six weeks out on the road with Ozzfest as the royal couple of metal, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, whittled the field to two. The final cut -- and winner of the spot on Ozzfest, $60,000 and new band equipment -- was chosen by votes on MTV's Web site.
Even without the grand prize, exposure from the show has been priceless, say band members, who already have been approached by other groups to join them on tour.
"No matter what happens, something good will come out of this," Camp said last week before heading with the rest of the band -- bassist John Ward of High Point, drummer Brandon Alford of Lexington, DJ Mike Yow and guitarist Robert Jones, both of Seagrove -- to Los Angeles to tape the show's finale. "If we don't win, I'm sure something else will come up. Hopefully, someone will want to sign us, or we'll go on tour with another band."

I've heard that ADF actually had to shell out $40,000 of the $60,000 prize just to play on the Ozzfest Tour. And they can't touch the other $20,000 because it's part of the contract. So don't feel too bad for Cynder/CYN. They have already been signed by Sharon herself, to a record label called "Divine Recordings".

Cynder was a bad a$$ f***ing band, and so were the others that were on there. A dozen furies i think is a huge band in the making and the others that didnt make it are good enough to tour with other bands, so either way they got some good out of it.
