Creed Fans Demand New "Rocky" Flick Changes Name
Apparently there are still Creed fans out there, and they are mighty pissed that the upcoming "Rocky" spinoff movie will be titled "Creed" (a reference to the son of Apollo Creed from the "Rocky" franchise).
They feel so passionately about people confusing the band with the movie that an online petition has been launched to change the film's name. Get your chuckles for the day here, or you can read excerpts from their demands below.
The movie CREED about the son of Rocky Balboa's deceased trainer's son, is making it difficult, if not impossible, for the still-vital online Creed fanbase to exchange thoughts and discussion regarding band developments, song interpretation, rumors, non-erotic fanfiction, and deeper insights into the expanded Creed universe. MGM has completely disrespected the Creedmunity by using the name of the still-popular band for their non-Creed related movie and have been stifling conversation by flooding social media hashtags and searches with non-music Creed discussion. MGM should have consulted Creed experts and online leaders before titling this movie. The Creedmunity will not be silenced.
We can make a difference. The online Creed fanbase and the discussion of this movie do not have to be enemies. We can be friends. However I can guarantee that if MGM does NOT change the title that no self-respecting Creed fan will EVER see this movie, not even on bootleg!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sort of concerned about the need to qualify that the fan fiction they are discussing is non-erotic in nature, because now I know that erotic Creed fan fiction exists online somewhere, and that bums me right the fuck out. The whole thing seems too silly to be serious, but that's not stopping people from signing the petition. Anyway, check out a trailer for "Creed" below.

I actually love the specificity relating to the fanfiction. Moreover, I love the that there is an active Creed fanfiction community. It's like reading about a newly discovered species. I laughed in wonder and disbelief but it actually makes a sort of sense... I guess.
The foreboding passive aggression of the closing paragraph wins the day though.

I thought they would have received the attention with arms wide open.
