"Where Greater Men Have Fallen" (reviewed here) is the new studio album from Ireland's revered metal craftsman, Primordial.

Released via Metal Blade late last month, the record debuted at #24 on Billboard's Top New Artist Chart, #43 on Billboard's Top New Artist Chart, and #104 on Billboard's Independent Albums Chart.

In commemoration of its release, today Revolver Magazine brings fans a thorough track-by-track breakdown of the offering as told by vocalist Alan Averill. The first two entries can be read below, while the full track-by-track is available at this location.

“Where Greater Men Have Fallen”

A no-brainer of an opener, we knew that when we wrote it that it would be track one. Quite traditional Primordial fare but centered around a big hook for the chorus so in that sense it’s quite a classic metal song. Drop alternate tuning which gives it a slightly heavier tone. Lyrically it deals with the turning of the 19th century and the path to WW1, the promise of a new century of advancement only brought bloodshed on a scale no one imagined.

“Babels Tower”

The first track written for the new album. Slow burning track that builds to a crescendo complete with an old school Candlemass style solo which is a rare thing for Primordial. The track we chose to make our first video recently. Lyrically it has a simple message wrapped in some quite Poe-esque language. It’s about miscommunication and misunderstanding, it revolves around the line, “I preached that world was flat."
