Conspires To... Issues Album Update

After announcing the band will be breaking an upcoming release into two albums, Conspires To... has checked in with the following update:

"Well, work is continuing on our two albums, however the heavy one seems to be taking a lead, so we are going to concentrate on that one for a while. We have whittled this down to 12 tracks, and it is looking likely that it will be called 'Nebula.'

"We are hoping to get it finished by the end of the year but will be releasing tracks via reverbnation as we go. The first track 'Across the Sky' is up now so go and check it out at this location.

"The first track from our more mellow alum will be completed and available to listen to soon as well. This is called 'Cold' and is quite unlike anything we have done before. More mellow tracks will emerge but probably after the heavy album is complete.

"We have also knocked up our first full length video, his being a cover of Trivium's Black, and features Wayne and I rocking out in our home studios. You can also check this out via reverbnation. Are you can watch the rest of our videos at YouTube." More...

Conspires To... Splitting Album Into Two

Conspires To... has checked in with the following announcement about working on two upcoming albums (one metal, one mellow):

"So, straight after the release of 'Symbiosis' we dived into the writing process again, with no set direction or idea of what we wanted to do. The music came quickly and feel into two distinct camps, the more familiar blow torch to the face metal, and then songs with a more mellow, acoustic tinged edge them.

"It was obvious that these songs would not sit well together on one album, so the idea for two new albums was born. What order they arrive in will be down to which songs are finished first. There is no set plan, we will just continue to write and record until they are done. Rest assured though the songs will be worth the wait, and the mellow stuff shows a new side to Conspires To... hinted to on Diablo.

"We will keep you updated with progress, which track names etc as they get done. If you have n't already please download our new album 'Symbiosis' available now at iTunes."

Conspires To... Issues Album Update

Conspires To... has issued the following update about delays in the recording process for the band's new album due to computer issues:

"Technology when it is working can be really great, but when it isn't can be an absolute killer of creativity and productivity!

"Imagine our dismay when we got to about 90% of the vocals for our new album complete, when the PC melts down! No it is n't a complete disaster but not far off.

"All the music is safe, plus vox for 5 songs, but the other 8 lots of vocals hang in the balance. Still trying to resurrect the hard drive......so I will keep you posted.

"Apart from this trauma the album is coming on blindingly well, and we should be releasing another song on Reverbnation very soon.

"Further updates will follow shortly."

Conspires To... Posts New Song Online

Conspires To... has issued the following announcement about streaming the new song "City of Ghosts" online via the band's MySpace page:

"We have just uploaded the first track 'City of Ghosts' from our soon to be released second album. This time rather than base the songs around a loose theme as we did on 'Redemption,' we have gone for more of a story based approach. The story in brief is set in 2034, and the worlds scientists are celebrating their own brilliance at developing a super-vaccine to cure all known illnesses.

"However unbeknown to them, a by-product of the manufacturing processes is the creation of a super-virus. This becomes apparent when there is an out break from a scientific research centre in Dresden, and the city's population starts to drop in their thousands. Its not long before a world wide pandemic has taken hold, and the majority of the earths population is wiped out.

"A few select individuals are naturally immune to the super-virus and manage to survive, however these lucky or unlucky ones are spread far and wide. 'The City of Ghosts' occurs post Pandemic, one such survivor after escaping the horrors of Dresden, and destined to wander the world in the vain hope of finding anyone else alive, arrives in an unknown city.

"Everywhere is deserted, however suffering from the trauma and severe fatigue of his ordeal, his imagination starts to run wild! Are the ghosts of the city really after him....?"

Conspires To... Comments On Writing Lyrics

U.K. metal act Conspires To... has issued the following update about writing lyrics for the band's upcoming second album:

"We are progressing nicely with album number 2 at the moment and have reached that stage where my attention is turning to the writing of the lyrics. Now generally at this point my listening habits vary, away from Carcass, Amon Amarth and the other brutal metal bands that I enjoy deeply, but really have no idea of what they are going on about (guess probably vikings for the latter!), to more articulate artists with something (or in some cases nothing) to say. This time around my selection has led me to give the subject of swearing in music some pondering. The questions being, is it Essential? is it necessary? should I be writing it? is it offensive?

"I will dismiss the last question out of hand, as I think for a genre of music that has given us Slayer, GWAR and Cannibal Corpse, it goes with the territory, and in fact even the tamest of metal bands are probably going to offend at least a small collection of puritans at least once! Case closed.

"So, what listen pleasure sparked the debate in my head? It all started when I bought a copy of Limp Bizkit's Gold Cobra CD (cheap) at Bangalore airport. Musically OK, not their best, but it did not take me too long to get utterly fed up with Fred Durst's swearing (and utter gibberish), there seemed to be no point to it other than to try to be big and clever.....of which it is neither! At this point I felt justified in not having included any swearing in any of our songs so far. I stood on the moral high ground and peered down onto the top of Mr Durst's red cap. More...

Conspires To... Comments On Musical Influences

Conspires To... has checked in with the following statement about the band's musical influences:

"So we have talked a bit in the past about what influences our lyrics but what about the music? Well this is about as random as the lyrics really. I listen to a lot of music every day, most of which is metal, but I do enjoy a bit of Jethro Tull, a bit of Jamiroquai if the mood takes me, and like the rest of us I am often subjected to mass (and over) produced Pop in our daily lives. So by the time I have picked up the guitar I will have been bombarded by many different rhythms and melodies, and subconsciously some of these will come out in the new riffs and chops.

"So is this an issue? It is interesting because sometimes I will listen back to some music I have written and will instantly know what band I was listening to before I wrote it, and I will start doubting the track for that reason. Yet I will then play it to others who will say 'man that sounds like band X or band Y,' which I cant hear the reference at all, or better still 'That doesn't sound like anyone else.' I suppose this all points to the basic fact that music is subjective. We don't all hear the same things whilst listening and because music is so emotive, listening to the same music on different days, will sound different dependent upon mood and experiences.

"Then there is the non-musical influences. Throughout the day your brain will soak up absolutely everything, every sight, every sound, every smell, every feeling, everything! I will lock it all away in different parts of the brain, some to be readily recalled, some that we never be replayed, and others that will affect the subconscious. These subconscious ones are the cool ones. They are most recognizable when they re-emerge as dreams. You can have the weirdest dream ever, but if you break it down you can probably track each element back to something you have seen or heard during the day.

"Musical influence works in the same way. Maybe you heard a train or a steam roller, or the pattern of someone's speech, maybe heard a bird singing, or a siren going off or something else that just lodged itself in the mind to be dredged back during a moment of musical inspiration. The reason I say that 'these are the cool ones' is because barring the bleeding obvious (i.e. train) no one will be able to tie your new best riff back to the seed of its inspiration. Hell, you'll be lucky to even realize that these have played a part at all! Anyway new album 'Redemption' is imminent, will keep you posted."

Conspires To... Issues Album Update

Conspires To... has checked in with the following update about working on a new album:

"The work on the album still continues, we have nine tracks complete and a further four in the pipeline. After being delayed in Oct/Nov we are now back on track, with more recording planned for this Wednesday. We seem to be on a real roll at the moment with plenty of ideas following. The songs all seem to be falling into two distinct camps, the faster, more immediate shorter songs, and the more atmospheric epics, which should help to balance the album out nicely.

"New track 'Desire' should be available to listen to shortly, so keep checking in. The updates will be more frequent now as well as we are keen to keep the momentum going."

Conspires To... Prepares To Record New Songs

Conspires To... has issued the following announcement about entering the studio to record vocals on two new tracks:

"Studio is booked for Nov 4th! We will be recording vocals for From the Deep and either Condemned or Illusions (Previously entitled The Fall of Ulysses). I am thinking that it will be Condemned as it is a pretty slow grinder, where as From the Deep is our fastest track yet, so there is good tension between the two."

Conspires To... Comments On New Song

Conspires To... recently posted the new song "Voice in the Storm" online via the band's MySpace page. Conspires To... has now issued the following statement about the track:

"Voice in the storm is about desperation, and blindly searching for a saviour, but being too willing to accept the first thing to come along. Ultimately this can lead to the weak being preyed upon or bad choices being made. I had number of things in mind whilst writing these lyrics. The catalyst was watching a lowlife loser shout at and push his pregnant girlfiend around in the street, and thinking how such a beautiful thing for a woman as child birth, can so easily turn into something so tragic at the mercy of others. All ultimately through a bad choice.

"This got me thinking about the people who vote people like Saddam Husein into power, desperate for someone to make a difference and give then some quality of life, only to be imprisoned or murdered, at the hands of the person they supported. At it's most literal it is a song about someone turning to religion only to realize that they have sold their soul to the devil .....ok so that is probably a far more metal explanation.....we'll go with that one then."

Conspires To... Streaming New Songs

U.K. act Conspires To... has uploaded the new songs "Voice in the Storm" and "Death or Dishonour," which can be heard here. The band also commented on the track "Death or Dishonour:"

"'Death or Dishonour' is another song about revenge. It's about those things that happen to you that you subconsciously bury, or drift from your memory as time passes, but are always there lying dormant.

"You only need to see a person, or visit a place or hear a song on the radio to bring it all flooding back. This is about taking things to the next level and making whoever truly pay for their wrong doings.......not that I condone such actions obviously, but it make great fuel for heavy angry music!"

Conspires To... Comments On New Track

U.K. based metal act Conspires To... has issued the following announcement about working on a new song titled "From the Deep:"

"Well I have had a great couple of days working on 'From the Deep.' The concept I have had in my head for a while is really coming together. The song is fast and ferocious, clocking in at 170bpm, and unlike most Conspires To... songs by the time the first minute has passed there has already been two verses and two prechorus. Having said that, you know its us and we unleash a twin guitar riff assault....can you tell I'm excited?!?! Tomorrow is exciting too, although I'll only tell you about it if it goes well."

The band has also posted artwork for the song via this location.
