Lordi Drummer, "Otus" Passes Away
Finnish heavy metal outfit Lordi has announced that drummer Tonmi Lillman, also known as "Otus," has passed away at the age of 38. The cause of death is presently unknown. A message from the band reads as follows:
"Our dear friend and band mate, "Otus" Tonmi Lillman, has sadly passed away. He will be greatly missed and we send our condolences to his family and friends.
"Otus: we thank You from the bottom of our hearts for the short time we got to know you and spend with you together.
"Rest in peace, friend."
Lillman joined the group in late 2010, replacing long time drummer Sampsa Astala, AKA, "Kita." He joined after the release of the band's latest studio album, "Babez For Breakfast" and as such, had not recorded an album with Lordi. He had also spent time with such bands as Ajattara, To/Die/For, Sinergy and Vanguard.
Sinergy Laid To Rest?
According to CHILDREN OF BODOM fan site Scythes Of Bodom, guitarist Roope Latvala's contribution to the upcoming Finnish Guitar Heroes album is the track 'Soap On A Rope'. It was originally written for the long awaited SINERGY album that, according to Latvala, "never seemed to happen". Given the number of times the album has been delayed and reports that recording was still incomplete as of earlier this year, it suggests that SINERGY has been put on ice.
'Soap On A Rope' also features Sinergy members Lauri Porra (bass/STRATOVARIUS) and Janne Parviainen (drums).
Sinergy's last album, Suicide By My Side, was officially released in 2002.
Stay tuned for more details.
Sinergy Singer Issues Album Update
Sinergy, the acclaimed Finnish metal band featuring singer Kimberly Goss and Children of Bodom members Alexi Laiho (guitar) and Roope Latvala (guitar), have spent the past few months quietly recording their fourth full-length album, tentatively due in late 2005.
As Goss announced on the internet:
Sinergy does indeed still exist, though the absence of our website and having only played two gigs in the past six months may lead people to believe otherwise.
Our fourth album will be called "Sins of the Past". We started recording drums and bass in June of last year at Finnvox Studios, and have continued recording the rest of it at Beyond Abilities Studios (the studio of Janne Wirman from Children of Bodom). However, we've had to record the album in separate sections due to Children of Bodom's busy touring schedule last year. We've sometimes had to take several months off in between recording.
Alexi just got his cast off cast week [after suffering a broken arm in a fall in December], but still needs to wear a brace for another few weeks. He's able to play guitar now, but we're gonna wait until he's 100 percent recovered before he finishes his leads on the album. In the meantime, myself and Roope have been busy recording our parts. The album will then be mixed and mastered at Finnvox then the recording is finished.
All I can say is that we are hopeful that the album will be released sometime this year. We'll have a new website up once the artwork for the new album is finished.
Children Of Bodom Side Project Release New Album
The new Kylähullut album "Turpa Täynnä" (Hammered) hit Finnish stores last Wednesday. The album isn't much different from the Keisarinleikkaus EP; it can still be described as straight-forward punk.
Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom) sings in a few songs with Vesku Jokinen (Klamydia) doing most of the vocals. Just like before, Tonmi Lillman (ex-To/Die/For, Sinergy) takes care of the drums and Alexi plays the super fast guitar solos. The lyrics of the album deal with topics like alcohol, groupies, spray painters and people who try to convert others into their own religion. Even Alexi's CoB bandmates don't get away without getting mocked by Alexi. Kimberly Goss does a guest appearance on the last track of the album by singing a few lines in Finnish.

COB Drummer To Appear On New Evemaster Album
Children of Bodom fan site Scythes-of-Bodom.com is reporting that CoB drummer Jaska is set to appear on the new Evemaster album, entitled "MMIV Lacrimae Mundi." The album is a re-recording of Evemaster's debut album "Lacrimae Mundi."
At the beginning of 2004, Jaska recorded drums at POP studios in Loimaa, Finland with the idea to get it "as punk as possible" and adding great grinding/blast drumming. The album fetaures the 7 tracks of the original album with one bonus track.

Children Of Bodom Side Project To Release Album
According to a posting at Scythes-Of-Bodom.com, Kylahullut, the Finnish project featuring Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom), Vesku Jokinen (Klamydia) and Tonmi Lillman (ex-To/Die/For, Sinergy), have completed work on their full-length album, "Turpa Täynnä" (Hammered), tentatively due in January 2005.
The band, whose name is roughly translated to "Village Fools", spent a week in the studio recording 12 songs of what is being described as "straight-forward punk."
"On the first studio day, our drummer Tonmi Lillman arrived completely hammered for the seventh day in a row," stated Jokinen. "He had lost his bass, had no drum sticks, not even to mention the drums. But what he did have was a shitload of booze. Laiho and I knew that this would be an excellent session."
