The Summoned Splits With Guitarist

The Summoned has issued the following announcement about parting ways with the band's guitarist:

"Jake Kelleher has decided to part ways with The Summoned due to personal reasons. We thank Jake for the four years he's spent with us and the great friend he has become. We wish him the best of luck in all his future endeavors. No date has been set for Jake's final show in The Summoned.

"With that said we will be trying out new guitarists shortly. We ask that all serious inquiries send us a video of themselves playing either covering something or playing something original showing us technique and style. We'll then pick the ones we like best and have you come in for a try out. Guitarists must have good equipment (half stacks & etc...), be quick learner, dedicated, self motivated, financially stable, be able to practice up least three times a week and be able to play shows every weekend, good stage presence and aspire to tour full time. You can send your tryout videos to band@thesummoned.com and we'll be in touch."

The Summoned Posts Studio Footage

The Summoned has posted three video clips from the recording studio, which can be found after the jump. The band also checked in with the following statement about the recording process:

"Steve from The Summoned here, figured I'd let everyone know how the recording process is coming along. Right now we're about half way done with drums and most of the guitars out of the way. All we need to finish now is Jake's leads, we'll have our ex-bassist Greg Mann filling in on bass duties for the album then vocals. So far the album is sounding awesome. The drums seriously pound and everything is nice and clear. The guitars sound very heavy and overall crisp.

"We're having a ton of fun recording it with Fred Sladkey of Mudskipper Studio. The same guy who also recorded our 2009 demo and our EP 'Harvest,' he knows exactly what we want and how to get the best performance possible out of us. We're really stoked to release this album and we hope it's everything that everyone is expecting out of it. Below is some studio footage of the drums and guitar sessions. More will be posted on our YouTube channel during the recording process." More...

The Summoned Issues Album Update

Boston's The Summoned has issued the following update about working on a new album:

"Giving you guys a little update on the progress of our debut album titled 'If Minds Could Only Paint Pictures' to be released through First To Fight Records. Overall planning has been finished. Pre-Production recording begins April 10th with Brian Thompson of Drive-By Bukkake. It's going to be 8 songs which will be absolutely non-stop all the way through, we definitely picked out what we think is an awesome track by track listing. We wont be giving out what tracks and what order, we're gonna leave that as a surprise. There will be a couple of guests on the album which should be really cool. We have a studio in mind but we'll be naming that once the dates are confirmed. Recording of the actual album begins sometime early May. Expect a teaser track once pre-production is done to give you a little taste of what's to come.

"Also we would like to announce that we are now endorsed by Soultone Cymbals based out of Turkey. We're absolutely pumped to be using their cymbals because they're some of the best sounding cymbals we've ever heard. Definitely check them out! Stay tuned for more updates, there will be plenty."
