Misery Index Posts Second Lyric Video Online

Baltimore, Maryland-based death metallers, Misery Index, will release their new album, "Rituals Of Power," on March 8th via Season of Mist. A lyric video for the track "The Choir Invisible" can be found below.

The band comment on the track: "'The Choir Invisible' is a euphemism for the dead, or those who have passed on. In the context of this song, it is an anthem of the dispossessed and the hopeless. Many across the world exist in an ‘in-between’ state that is often ignored and/or washed over because they lack the power and voice to plead their case as human beings. The song takes up this theme and tells it from the somber view of those who risk their lives, board ships and cross oceans in order to find a better life." More...

Misery Index Posts New Lyric Video Online

Baltimore, Maryland-based death metallers, Misery Index, will release their new album, Rituals Of Power, on March 8th via Season of Mist. A lyric video for the title track can be found below.

The album sees the powerhouse quartet unleash a barrage of ferocious death metal as violent as it is savvy. Their vicious vocals spit venom, laying bare the ills of a dystopian society gone mad. As rampaging new tracks like "New Salem", the title track, and "I Disavow" so brashly prove, Rituals Of Power is world-class modern extremity and Misery Index only grows more powerful with time.

"Rituals Of Power is a disavowal and warning against the consequences of our so-called 'post-truth' age," says the band. "Each of the nine songs revolves loosely around this theme, yet each track also stands very much on its own. As an album however, they are all brought to life as one 'reanimated' monster; it's roughly thirty-five minutes of unhinged, yet cohesive, riff-driven aural ballistics. We were pissed off and on fire during both the writing and recording, and we think it shows in spades. We set out to write the best album we could, based on what we would want to hear first as fans of this music, and we could not be happier." More...

In advance of its release, the band has unveiled the first single and official video for "New Salem" noting of the punishing track, "'New Salem' sums up perfectly the lyrical vitriol and musical dynamics featured across Rituals Of Power. We wanted to introduce the album, not just with a straight-ahead ripping tune, but with a smack to the face; it's a wakeup call for any concerned citizen and a code red for civilization. Ugly times call for stark and uncomfortable statements, and 'New Salem' castigates the faults and ineptitudes of our broken media system and the Crucible-esque, witch-hunt culture it fuels." More...

Cast The Stone's New EP To Be Released In August

Cast The Stone have an August 31st release date planned for their upcoming EP “Empyrean Atrophy” through Agonia Records. The group, who feature guitarist Mark Kloeppel (Misery Index, Scour), bassist Derek Engemann (ex-Cattle Decapitation, Scour), drummer Jesse Schobel (Legend, ex-Scour) and vocalist Andy Huskey, is set to launch a first single from the effort on June 07th.

Comments Kloeppel:

“The band’s sound is a testament to an enduring spirit that’s driven us to return to our most organic influences, merge them together, incorporate disparate elements, and forge our own sound. Each person has a distinct sound unto themselves, so it’s really cool how smooth and cohesive this stuff comes across.

You can immediately hear how different this is from the other things we’ve been involved in, yet it’s still very true to our individual styles. Our bassist Derek progressively weaves my guitars and Jesse‘s uber-creative drumming style together in a way that only he can. This is all crowned off by Andy Huskey’s crazy death metal vocals which are… well, just listen.”

The track listing for the outing will run as follows: More...
