Acclaimed grindcore extremists Misery Index have finished recording their forthcoming new album "The Killing Gods."
The band's fifth full-length was recorded at Visceral Sound Studios with Scott Hull and Wright Way recording with long-time engineer Steve Wright. Misery Index will see the release of "The Killing Gods" in May 27th in North America (May 23rd worldwide).
Regarding the release of the new album, Misery Index front man Jason Netherton comments:
"After an extended writing and recording process we have finally completed 'The Killing Gods.' It is the longest, most diverse and most complete album we have ever created, and it represents the blood, sweat and beers of four dudes trying to make the best songs they can. We think we have succeeded and we hope you do as well. Look for this metal beast to drop in May!"
The band recently announced a special live date as part of this year's Maryland Death Fest pre-show, on May 21st.
American grindcore act Misery Index is currently hard at work on a forthcoming studio album and issued the following update:
"We have started the recording sessions for our Season of Mist debut. Adam started tracking drums last weekend with Scott Hull at Visceral Sound, outside Washington DC.
"The rest of the album will be recorded next month at Wrightway Studios in Baltimore. We expect things to wrap up in early January and we are aiming for a spring 2014 release.
"It is shaping up to be our longest and most diverse effort to date. In the meantime, we will be posting studio updates and videos, as things unfold..."

In order to help the fans wait until the next full-length album, American grindcore act Misery Index will unleash a live album on February 15th (February 19th in North America).
Entitled “Live in Munich,” this new offering was recorded at Backstage in Munich, Germany on February 18th, 2012. It will be released as hand-numbered die-cut LP, strictly limited to 500 copies worldwide. The track listing is as follows:

A quick video interview done this past Sunday, November 25th right after the first annual Hudson Valley Death Fest outside of the The Chance Theater in Poughkeepsie, NY is streaming below. Cannibal Corpse has announced that the band will be embarking on a headlining U.S. tour scheduled to begin on November 16th and wrap up on December 7th. Dates and venues are listed below. Supporting Cannibal Corpse on this tour will be Misery Index and Hour of Penance.
Cannibal Corpse is touring in support of latest full-length "Torture" (reviewed here) released through Metal Blade Records earlier this Spring. The band also has upcoming Australian and Asian shows this October, with details available here.

After Fear Factory just recently announced the band was dropping off the Shockwave Festival, which was set to kick off on July 6th, the organizers of the tour have now issued the following statement about the entire run being shut down:
“It is with great disappointment that we have to make this announcement. With the recent departure of Voivod from the Shockwave Festival lineup, as well as low advance tickets sales we have decided to pull the plug on the Shockwave Festival.
"For purchases made with a credit card, your card will automatically be refunded. All other refunds are available at point of purchase.
"We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused."
Today the coordinators of Shockwave Festival Tour 2012 have announced four new dates in the inaugural North American takeover: Calgary, Amityville, Columbus, and Joliet. See the updated itinerary below. The following press release was also issued:

Halifax’s Thrashfest has announced it's full line up, including Baltimore's deathgrind band Misery Index, Quebec's Fuck The Facts, Ottawa's Aggresor, as well as local openers Hellacaust, The.Daisy.Anthesis, Orchid's Curse, and many more.
The festival is set to take place on August 19th and 20th at Gus' pub; tickets are $20 in advance or $10 for Friday night and $15 for Saturday night.
"We are very proud to announce the 5th annual Thrashfest will include, 15 acts who will preform over 2 days and 3 shows. This years event will host a variety of local and international acts," commented festival organizer Myron Cottreau. The full festival Line up is as follows:

Season of Mist has announced today the signing of American grindcore quartet Misery Index, which will be writing a new album later this year.
"Needless to say, we are very excited to start working with Season of Mist and to join an exceptional roster that includes many of our favorite bands," bassist / vocalist Jason Netherton states. "We will commence later this year to writing the next album, and with luck will enter the studio in 2012.
