Misery Index Prepares To Enter The Studio
Misery Index has issued the following statement about preparing to enter the recording studio:
"Greetings all, we are happy to say the hibernation has paid off, and we have roughly 9 songs in preparation for the January recording of our 4th full length, to be recorded at Wrightway Studios in Baltimore, Maryland beginning January 2nd, 2010. These are the guys that mixed and mastered 'Traitors,' so we are excited to do the entire project there this time around. We will have more details on that in the coming weeks.
"In the meantime, we are pleased to announce, at long last, our discography collection of splits and EPS, entitled 'Pulling Out The Nails' (after the first song the band wrote). It will feature 30 tracks, and include ALL non-album material from 2001-2008, including the Overthrow and Dissent EPs, as well as the splits with Structure of Lies, Commit Suicide, Mumakil, and Bathtub Shitter, the Hang em' High 7", live tracks, bonus covers etc. The compilation was remastered by Scott Hull this year, and will be available in January on cd through our own Anarchos records imprint, and on double vinyl through Power It Up (Germany) soon after. This cd will also include an extensive 24 page booklet of details, notes, pictures, and an all-time list of all the shows we have performed. We hope its the final representation of the various incarnations of the band in the past 8 years. Til then, more news soon!"

Misery Index Writing New Material
Misery Index has issued the following update about recording new material:
"We just got back from Brooklyn, and it was a blast. Particularly cause friends showed up to say hello...Bones, Doug and Chris - from Suffocation's classic lineup in the 90s, were in attendance, among other great New York area friends like Anita and Jess, the Generation Records Crew, the Long Island crew plus Sean+Without Remorse, and even our friend from Austria showed. Thanks to the WNYU peeps for putting it together, and to top it off playing with our local brothers in Criminal Element and an array of new bands was a blast (check em all out!), as well as the amazing 5 AM bar closing time tin NYC...gotta love the flexibility. Now we are focusing on writing...4 new songs in the works now...and aiming to record in Jan/Feb."
Misery Index Comments On Canceled Mexico Show
Misery Index has issued the following statement about canceling their appearance at the Mezcal Metalfest in Mexico:
"Hello all! Instead of being in Mexico City to play the Mezcal Metalfest on Sunday, we are sitting here in Baltimore wondering why the festival organizers did not follow through with their agreements. Way back in May when we accepted the invitation to play the show we asked them to apply for work visas for us so we can enter the country legally and perform at the show. In our experience, when traveling to many destinations outside the US, work visas are a basic requirement. Promoters routinely have to get them so the bands they invite will be able to pass through Immigration without any issues. Having been to Canada, the UK, Russia, Japan, etc., we are very familiar with the visa process and have no desire to run afoul of the local authorities.
"As working foreign nationals attempting to enter Mexico illegally as tourists (as the Mezcal Metalfest Organizers requested), we would face hefty fines, jail, or being flagged to never enter the country again. It's obvious when you arrive with guitars, merchandise, and other equipment that you are not just on vacation. With the ease of finding information on a band's activities via the internet, we don't like taking chances by trying to fool the Immigration authorities. However, after assuring us many times over the past few weeks that the necessary paperwork would be taken care of, the promoter failed to take any action on the visas (as described here). Yet, he still expected us to enter Mexico illegally as 'tourists.'
"We all love playing the Metal, but when we are expected to take risks due to a promoter's negligence, we are left with no choice but to make the unfortunate decision to cancel the show in question. Such is the case with the Mezcal Metalfest. We are very unhappy to have to pass up this opportunity to travel to Mexico City and play the gig. Apologies to everyone who had expected to see us there and we hope to finally get the chance to play there at some point in the future. Thanks for your understanding. Cheers!"
