Windfaerer Streaming New Song

Garden State blackened metal troupe Windfaerer is currently streaming “A Glimpse of Light,” the second track off the new EP, "Solar." You can listen to the song below. The self-released follow-up to the band’s "Tribus" debut was recorded with Bobby Torres at Frightbox Recording in Clifton, New Jersey. The following press release was also issued about the band:

"Literally meaning 'one who travels with the wind,' as in a vessel at sea, Windfaerer began as a means of self expression for guitarist/bassist/vocalist Michael Gonçalves, inspired by his Hispanic/Iberian heritage and fueled by his passion for extreme music. With Windfaerer, he focused his energies on creating a melodic, blasting and emotional entity and eventually recruited like-minded musicians in violinist Benjamin Karas and drummer JP Andrade."

Gonçalves notes: “This music is a vessel for my expression. Windfaerer is not to follow trends or be part of a scene of some sort; it is about independence and being true. Solar feels like a healthy progression for Windfaerer’s music,” he continues. “I’ve included more input from my bandmates in the writing process and we’re excited to show the world our brand of metal with this EP. Windfaerer Announces NYC Show With Vise Massacre

Earsplit PR has issued the following announcement about hosting the upcoming Precious Metal NYC show on June 18th with Windfaerer and more:

"That’s right tri-state riot-seekers, the fine folks who have run New York City’s venerable Precious Metal Monday night metal shows for the past six years finally bit off more than they can chew, and have offered Earsplit PR a full night to curate! The debauchery will take place Monday, June 18th, as always at Precious Metal’s steady home at the Lit Lounge on the Lower East Side, and as always, run by Curran Reynolds (Wetnurse, Today Is The Day). With four Earsplit-related audio terror units taking the stage that night, ears will be scathed from 9pm until midnight, with plenty of depravity to prevail far into the morning hours.

"Elizabeth, New Jersey-based trio Windfaerer — the brainchild of young Earsplit henchmen Michael Goncalves — will raise fists with their epic, violin-infused Iberian folk metal, while the metallic, Danzig worship of Connecticut’s Nightbitch (featuring members of Ipsissimus) will bring the ragers out in throngs. The dual-bassist dementia from NYC-based AmRep-gone-deathstomp quartet The Year Is One (fronted by known Guitar World photographer/writer Jimmy Hubbard) will get gnarly alongside our close comrades in Brooklyn’s most enraged speed metal/hardcore bastard brigade, Vise Massacre, celebrating their self-released Expendable Humans LP. Between the beatings, the congregation will be serenaded by the beats and charm (and badass hat) of DJ Mike SOS (SEIZURE CRYPT/S.O.S.). Anybody in the vicinity that night come on out, and kiss your Tuesday goodbye."

Windfaerer Reveals "Solar" EP Details

American blackened metal warriors Windfaerer will unleash a new EP entitled "Solar" within the coming weeks. The self released follow-up to the band’s "Tribus" debut was recorded with Bobby Torres at Frightbox Recording in Clifton, New Jersey and will include seven tracks of violent beauty laden with elements of black and melodic death metal while exuding a folkloric edge.

Comments guitarist/bassist/vocalist Michael Gonçalves of the record: “Solar is a tribute to the intangible and to those things that make life seem so hopeless, yet beautiful. The title represents a unity of the celestial and infernal forces that govern mankind. Compared to Tribus, the lyrics have become more personal and abstract. Solar is Windfaerer being a more confident entity.”

The "Solar" track listing is as follows:

1. The Mortal Flare
2. A Glimpse of Light
3. Worlds of the Self
4. Blackened Voids
5. A Moura Encantada
6. In the Shadow of Giants
7. The Morning Star More...

Windfaerer Posts New Music Online

New Jersey folk metal band WINDFAERER -- M. Gonçalves [Vocals, Guitars, Bass], JP Andrade [Percussion] and Valèek [Violin] -- has recently posted two new tracks to their official MySpace page. "These Walls (Frozen In Time)" and "This Beautiful Death," which features bagpipe work by Sevan Kirder, formerly of Eluveitie, come off the trio's debut full-length, "Tribus." Check out the tracks on their MySpace page. "Tribus" was recorded and mixed at Frightbox Recording (Clifton, NJ) by Bobby Torres and follows the band's two-song demo "Glorybound," which was released last year.

Main songwriter Goncalves comments on the new tunes, "Tribus is in essence a collection of everyday themes set in a time of Iberian legend. The songs touch upon rebellion against Romans in ancient Hispania and Lusitania, expansion to new lands, as well as voyaging into the unknown. I'm excited about the way everything sounds and how it all came together. I've had this vision for a while and it's almost euphoric to be able to finally realize it!"
