Background
The thrash metal sound of Slayer was formed in Huntington Beach, CA in 1982. Comprising Tom Araya (bass, vocals), Kerry King (guitar), Jeff Hanneman (guitar) and Dave Lombardo (drums), they made their debut in 1983, with a track on the compilation Metal Massacre III. After that the rest has been history. The band played at breakneck speed with amazing technical precision, but the intricacies of detail were lost in a muddy production. Araya's lyrics dealt with death, carnage, Satanism and torture, but were reduced to an indecipherable guttural howl. But this chaos called music is what set the ways for Slayer and many bands to follow.
Through the years, Slayer has been hit with much controversy over their lyrics, including lawsuits. But through the years Slayer has managed to build a following from coast to coast. Slayer has played such tours as Monsters of Rock, Ozzfest, and recently toured the U.S. co-headling with Pantera.
Now almost 20 years later, Slayer is still playing just as hard as ever. Will Slayer ever stop? Not likely, considering they are keeping up with thrash bands half their age, after all they did start it!

Slayer has issued the following announcement about re-releasing three live concert DVDs:
"The last time you went shopping for DVD's, you might have noticed an unmistakable empty space where Slayer titles should have been. The reason is simple - all of Slayer's DVD's have been out of print. But rest easy Slayer fanatics, the wait will soon be over.
"On August 17, 2010, 2003's 'War at the Warfield' and 2004's 'Still Reigning' will be reissued, and, for the first time ever, 1995's 'Live Intrusion,' having been digitally re-mastered, will also be available on DVD. All three will be sold separately ($13.98 each), and the Limited Edition 'Slayer Live DVD 3-Pak' ($29.98), will be available exclusively on Slayer's website."

Anthrax Confirmed For American Carnage Tour
Metalheads rejoice: North America's biggest thrash tour in 20 years is announced, as 1991's original American "Clash of the Titans" lineup – Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax - will tour together once again on Leg Two of the American Carnage Tour. This trek kicks off September 24 at Verizon Wireless Theatre in Dallas, TX and will play 20 dates, including New York's Nassau Coliseum, concluding at Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles on October 21. Now the only possible bigger tour will inevitably be when all of the "Big Four" take their European Tour back to the United States.
On Leg Two of American Carnage, Megadeth will continue to roar through its landmark 1990 album Rust in Peace from front to back, while Slayer will rip the roof off by performing its much-lauded Seasons in the Abyss album, which was also released in 1990. Anthrax recently welcomed back singer Joey Belladonna, who defined the band during their prime, and now permanently back in the band, will be front-and-center. Belladonna will be on their upcoming album: "Worship Music" which has no official release date as of today.
The original “Clash of the Titans” tour united the three forces of thrash metal for the entire summer of 1991, with then-little known Alice in Chains serving as the opener. This tour, which falls under the “American Carnage” banner, isn’t rewriting history; it’s writing a whole new chapter of headbanging history that is sure to delight fans new and old. It is still unknown if Alice In Chains will perform as the opening act. Tour dates as followed: More...

Anthrax To Join American Carnage Tour?
During a recent interview with Megadeth's frontman Dave Mustaine with 24ur.com, Mustaine revealed that Anthrax will be part of some shows on the American Carnage Tour alongside Slayer and Megadeth. The start of the tour will take place in Canada on July 23rd, and end in the United States on September 4th. However, Anthrax will most likely make an appearance in the second leg of the tour. Here is an excerpt of Dave Mustaine taken from the interview from 24ur.com:
"I think it would have been cool if I would have gotten a chance to spend a little more time with Kirk [Hammett, METALLICA guitarist]. But we never really were close. I didn't really see him very much. But as far as everything else is concerned, it was great. We hang out with SLAYER all the time, and we're on tour with them in the States on 'American Carnage'. And ANTHRAX is gonna be joining us, so it's gonna kind of be like the 'Clash Of The Titans' thing we did back in the '90s, too."
It should be noted that Anthrax is not officially on the tour schedule, which means nothing official has been confirmed as of today.
The "Big Four" Show To Play In Australian Theaters
Megadeth has issued the following announcement about the "Big Four" show in Bulgaria (featuring Megadeth, Metallica, Anthrax, and Slayer) will now be screened in Australian theaters:
"The now-legendary 'Big Four' show — which was held on June 22nd at Sofia, Bulgaria's Sonisphere festival and featured Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax on stage for the first time — will be screened in selected cinemas across Australia from July 9. For ticketing information, head to this location and click on Australia down at the bottom."
Megadeth Comments On Big Four Shows
Megadeth front man Dave Mustaine has checked in with the following statement about the band's "Big Four" tour dates:
"Droogies! So now that the Big Four dates have come and gone, I feel it is time to check-in, say, "Hello" and tell you what has been going on in my world. First off, when we left San Marcos and Mustaine Music Studios aka 'Vic's Garage,' we had no idea what to expect, other than the fact that we wanted to make a point; we wanted to make the other bands feel comfortable, we wanted the fans to all leave this momentous occasion feeling completely satiated, we wanted the guys in Metallica to know that we could be depended on to pull our share...
"I don't know if we delivered for everyone, but for the tens of thousands of people each night, and ultimately hundreds of thousands of fans over the entire run of the Big Four festivals (affectionately dubbed 'Sonisphere'), it seemed to me that the fans were finally able to put aside the silly stuff that the press has kept on life support for so many, many years. We did several round-table interviews with a member from each camp of the Big Four, and one thing that was a constant and that we all agreed on was that the press was the responsible parties for keeping the feuds alive.
"You heard it straight from our mouths; we are all at peace with one another, and we all are friends. End of story – or in other words, several shit magazines will now have to learn how to write real interviews, reviews, and features, instead of causing so much turmoil with us four, all in the spirit of selling their publications."

The Big Four Rock by Satellite
Thrash veterans Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer and Metallica have never before all played the same show or festival. This isn’t too surprising, as that is a lot of stars and egos to get into one place at one time – someone has to play first, and only one band can play last. But finally in summer of 2010 the Sonisphere Festivals wrangled all four together to play seven dates in Europe. Because there are no North American dates the bands arranged to have the show in Sofia, Bulgaria beamed by satellite to hundred of theaters back home. And while there are plenty of ways to nitpick the negatives, the end result is a hugely entertaining concert via video. More...
