Background
"Black Label Society" is a heavy metal/Southern Metal band formed by Zakk Wylde, with 8 albums released to date. The first, Sonic Brew, was released in 1999. The band's latest studio album "Shot To Hell" was released on the 11th (UK) and 12th (US) of September 2006, the first release under Roadrunner Records, and was produced by Michael Beinhorn (Soundgarden, Ozzy Osbourne, Red Hot Chili Peppers).
In 1992, Ozzy retired after the No More Tears tour, which left Zakk to form his own solo band Pride & Glory, blending potent bluesy southern rock with heavy metal. In 1994 Ozzy decided to come out of retirement, and the numerous recording sessions for Ozzmosis took place. Around this time, Zakk was also offered the open guitar slot in Guns N' Roses and had a hard time deciding whether to tour with Ozzy or join Guns N' Roses. Neither project panned out. This gave Wylde the opportunity to record his own acoustic solo album, "Book of Shadows." After limited commercial success with Book Of Shadows, in 1998, Zakk and drummer Phil Ondich formed Black Label Society and recorded their debut album "Sonic Brew." Nick Catanese has been Zakk's rhythm guitarist since the Book Of Shadows tour. Craig Nunenmacher has been drumming since 1919 Eternal (2001) following Phil's departure.
Black Label Society headlined the second stage at this year's Ozzfest (US). Tickets for fall dates in the US have gone on sale, and the band will tour Australia, New Zealand and the UK in late 2006 and early 2007.
The song "Fire It Up", from the 2005 album Mafia, featured as a bonus song in the PlayStation 2 game ''Guitar Hero''.
On June 29, 2006, "Concrete Jungle", the first single from "Shot to Hell" was released online via Blabbermouth.net, which is owned by the band's new record label Roadrunner Records. The single's , directed by

After the recent revealing of Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label Society and System Of A Down joining Def Leppard and Van Halen on the upcoming game "Guitar Hero World Tour," a video containing behind-the-scenes and in-game footage of Ozzy has been posted at this location. As previously reported, System Of A Down will contribute with their hit song "B.Y.O.B." from the acclaimed "Mezmerize" album and Black Label Society will donate "Stillborn" to the game. Ozzy Osbourne will have two songs featured, both of which come from his 1980 debut album, "Blizzard Of Ozz." The songs will be the staple "Crazy Train" and the haunting "Mr. Crowley." In addition to this, both Ozzy and his long time partner in crime Zakk Wylde will be playable characters in the game. Also confirmed for the game will be the Ozzfest venue to give the game an extra edge when performing as Ozzy, Zakk or any other character. The game is set for an October 26th release date.

System Of A Down will contribute with their hit song "B.Y.O.B." from the acclaimed "Mezmerize" album and Black Label Society will donate "Stillborn" to the game.
The acts join in with other confirmed acts such as Def Leppard and Van Halen.
The Metal Community Pays Tribute To Meldrum Leader
Black Label Society lead singer/ guitarist Zakk Wylde has posted the following message regarding the recent death of Meldrum leader Michelle Meldrum:
"I cannot believe this. Michelle was like a sister to me and all of the Black Label camp. I remember the first show that Meldrum played with us. The whole band was so great, but Michelle was the guitarist, so we talked shop all the time. She was loving and you could always talk to her about any problems you have, so caring.
God has a guitar-ripping angel in his house now.
God bless you, Michelle. You will be missed and thought of every time I set foot onstage." More...
Zakk Wylde and Bumblefoot On Talking Metal
Zakk Wylde and Bumblefoot (of Guns N’ Roses) have been announced as the guests for next week’s new Talking Metal episode on Fuse. The episode will air next Friday, March 21st at midnight ET.
Here's the description of the show:
“What starts as a simple interview turns into a recording session when Zakk Wylde holds the Talking Metal crew hostage to record a brand new song with Bumblefoot of Guns N' Roses. John, Mark and Zakk perform Black Label Society's "Blood is Thicker than Water" and the TM exclusive jam of "Till The End."
Ozzfest Coming To London?
Kerrang.com reports that Ozzfest 2008 is strongly rumored to be coming to the UK with a one-off show at London's 02 Arena on July 19.
OZZY OSBOURNE, who begins a series a South American tour on March 30 with KORN and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, looks set to headline the one-day extravaganza.
Although promoters and agents involved with the show are remaining tight-lipped, Kerrang.com believes that other bands in the running are KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, ALICE IN CHAINS, SERJ TANKIAN, DIMMU BORGIR and LACUNA COIL.
As previously reported, the U.S. version of Ozzfest is rumored to be morphing into a two-day "destination festival" in Dallas. There has been no official word yet on what format Ozzfest will take or who will be on the bill.
The rumors come in the wake of this year's arrival of the metal-oriented Rockstar Energy Mayhem Tour, which will play 30 North American amphitheaters during July and August, the time when Ozzfest is traditionally making its rounds.
Last year's Ozzfest offered free admission, with fans acquiring tickets mostly through sponsoring web sites. But the acts were not paid either, which resulted in a decidedly less than impressive main stage lineup. The Mayhem trek has already robbed Ozzfest of two potential main-stage heavyweights in DISTURBED and SLIPKNOT, with fan favorites DRAGONFORCE and MASTODON also taking part in the Mayhem tour.
OZZY OSBOURNE is likely to headline the U.S. Ozzfest as a solo act again, since his BLACK SABBATH bandmates are busy with their HEAVEN AND HELL offshoot.
The Mayhem tour is being co-produced by Kevin Lyman, who has the successful Warped and Taste of Chaos packages on his resume.
