Ozzfest Coming To London?

Kerrang.com reports that Ozzfest 2008 is strongly rumored to be coming to the UK with a one-off show at London's 02 Arena on July 19.

OZZY OSBOURNE, who begins a series a South American tour on March 30 with KORN and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, looks set to headline the one-day extravaganza.

Although promoters and agents involved with the show are remaining tight-lipped, Kerrang.com believes that other bands in the running are KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, ALICE IN CHAINS, SERJ TANKIAN, DIMMU BORGIR and LACUNA COIL.

As previously reported, the U.S. version of Ozzfest is rumored to be morphing into a two-day "destination festival" in Dallas. There has been no official word yet on what format Ozzfest will take or who will be on the bill.

The rumors come in the wake of this year's arrival of the metal-oriented Rockstar Energy Mayhem Tour, which will play 30 North American amphitheaters during July and August, the time when Ozzfest is traditionally making its rounds.

Last year's Ozzfest offered free admission, with fans acquiring tickets mostly through sponsoring web sites. But the acts were not paid either, which resulted in a decidedly less than impressive main stage lineup. The Mayhem trek has already robbed Ozzfest of two potential main-stage heavyweights in DISTURBED and SLIPKNOT, with fan favorites DRAGONFORCE and MASTODON also taking part in the Mayhem tour.

OZZY OSBOURNE is likely to headline the U.S. Ozzfest as a solo act again, since his BLACK SABBATH bandmates are busy with their HEAVEN AND HELL offshoot.

The Mayhem tour is being co-produced by Kevin Lyman, who has the successful Warped and Taste of Chaos packages on his resume.

So basically U.K. ozzfest will be bands rehashed from older ozzfest, yeah its safe to say ozzfest is pretty well over and done with and as for Ozzy touring with Korn as a opening act,Why Korn sucks now and no one cares about their music anymore.

I have to disagree. Ozzy is entertaining enough, probably the best out of the numerous OAP headliners billing elsewhere.

Ozzy, Dimmu, Lacuna coil and B.L.S would be worth seeing in my opinion, but other than that it would be a wasted day and wasted money.

It seems quite humorous to put Serj on the tour/fest, as SOAD is so often cited as the reason Ozzfest got too expensive and was no longer profitable.

I find it hard to believe that Sharon Osbourne ever made a loss. Beside Serj was just the singer not the business brain.

Seriously, get some different bands to play this year. f*** that hardcore sh**, no more Atreyu, Unearth and many bands who have the same breakdown riff. I don't know how Ozzfest is going to survive. I'd say bring out Slayer and Exodus. Every other major act is pretty much booked for the summer festivals in Europe, so it's gonna suck ass.
