Iron Thrones Wins "No Label Needed" Contest
The No Label Needed Series presented by Scion in collaboration with MetalInsider.net is helping one lucky band leave labels behind and take on the industry all on their own. The series will show viewers how it's done, all while helping the special contest-winning band get ahead in a spectacular way.
At www.metalinsider.net/nolabelneeded thousands of Metal bands entered, twenty finalists were selected and one winner was voted on by a panel artists, agents, writers and managers. The winning band, IRON THRONES of Minneapolis, MN, was announced on April 1st and provided opportunities to get all the help and education they need to become a truly self-sufficient artist without having to sign a traditional record deal.
Before the cameras of the SERIES, IRON THRONES will receive a personalized, all-encompassing tutorial focused on the secrets and tips needed to achieve success in the music industry through DIY means of marketing. They will be mentored by the members of Shadows Fall, will record an EP produced by Machine (Lamb of God, Every Time I Die, Suicide Silence), will shop for their stage and photo shoot clothing with Maria Brink (In This Moment) and Blasko (Ozzy) and receive advice from the likes of Ben Weinman of The Dillinger Escape Plan. Their website will be re-designed, their merch re-imagined and radio and press campaigns mounted to promote their EP by the best in their fields.
The series is not only meant to be a learning experience for one band, it is meant to teach any dedicated musician who wants to learn how to properly market their craft. Readers will be able to interact with contest partners and contributing musicians and professionals through the site to get some real insight into specific areas of expertise.
The members of IRON THRONES have been blogging since the start of the experience and will be initiating live chats on Justin.tv/iron_thrones. The band was introduced to the world of music on the site and the first episode of the series, where the mentoring session with SHADOWS FALL (Everblack Industries / Ferret) occurred ran on Tuesday, April 13th. Episodes are available for embedding on other sites that wish to educate along with the NO LABEL NEEDED SERIES.
The Dillinger Escape Plan Comments On Tour
Greg Puciato of the Dillinger Escape Plan has issued the following statement about the band performing an upcoming headlining show:
"Just quickly wanna let everyone know, because we've been getting asked about it, that the April 13th show at the Glasshouse in Pomona is the ONLY DEP HEADLINING SHOW in Southern California (or all of California for that matter) on this tour and the known future so far. SO, for those of you planning to drive from L.A., or Orange County, or San Diego or wherever the hell you are coming from, please get your tickets in advance here to be sure you don't drive all that way only to find that there are no tickets left. Doors will be at seven, it IS an all ages show, and we go on around 9:45, so plan accordingly if you'll be making a drive.
"Other than that, thanks to everyone we've seen so far on this tour for coming out and creating memorable experiences with us; these have been some of the most gratifying North American shows we've played in a long time. We have six more to go on this tour, check the main page for the dates and places. I'll check back in soon."

Dillinger Escape Plan Comments On New Album Sales
The Dillinger Escape Plan has issued the following update about the sales of their new album "Option Paralysis," which was released yesterday, March 23rd:
"First off, thanks for everyone who went out and got our record on day one. It made a difference. We were neck and neck with people on the Itunes and Amazon charts that were just hilarious to us. Sandwiched in between JIMI FUCKING HENDRIX and PEARL JAM on the Itunes rock charts was little ol' us, and on the main album charts page we were in the company of mouthbreathers like Kesha and Disney pedophilia wet dream icon Justin Beiber. Life is, at times, hilarious. How killer is it that we basically sound like noise to the average person, that if we were an animal we would literally use those aforementioned people as food, and yet there we were in their company. Talk about infiltrating enemy territory.
"We're like the dudes that were just doing their thing and then somehow ended up in some yuppie house party and before you know it we're trashing the place like it's the Beastie Boys ‘Fight For Your Right To Party’ video and everyone there's just gotta deal with our presence or get the hell out. Somethin' like that. So thanks to you guys so far. This album is making so much noise that people on the sidelines can't help but deal with our obnoxious presence in their boring comfortable existence. We're showing up and pissing badassery all over the mainstream music world's high priced carpets and you guys are right there with us. Suck it, Beiber.
"Yet, with all of the first day insanity, and despite the last blog, some of you have still been writing in saying ‘dudes....I went to Wal-Mart and they didn't have yer album....whadda I do?’ So...for those....I wanna show you in the Easiest way possible, how to go about obtaining our new album, ‘Option Paralysis.’ Here are some...uh....options, that don't involve wandering around in a huge warehouse full of garbage: More...
Dillinger Escape Plan Comments On New Album
The Dillinger Escape Plan released their fourth full-length album "Option Paralysis" today, March 23rd, 2010. Vocalist Greg Puciato issued the following statement about the album:
"Here we are. Four months after we finished recording, a year after we started writing, and twelve years into our existence, we are proud to bring you our fourth full length album, "Option Paralysis". We put, to use a cliche, our heart and souls into this album, driving ourselves as individuals to the brink of insanity and as close to the line of personal destruction as possible to get the most out of ourselves as possible as artists. This is the ten songs that came out. We started with a title, a theme that resonated with us all, Option Paralysis, before one note or lyric was written, and now a year later with the physical release, it is still only part of the process.
"While you're listening and digesting, we'll be coming to every city that'll have us, getting to know you guys up close and personal in dark sweaty venues around the world, for the next year and a half or so, chasing after the muse that keeps us doing this year after year. If you like our record, and like what we represent as a band, please pick up a copy and help shine a light on, support, and build the culture that you and we want to see. With all the chaos that has happened in the last decade or so, the tearing down of old norms, it is time for a new renaissance, a new enlightenment, where artists and creators and human beings looking to connect and enrich their own and one another's lives can thrive and develop. It is only by choosing, supporting, and acknowledging as important those things that we want to see thrive, that we can reshape a better and more fruitful culture for ourselves. Please remember to support all art you love, not just ours, but independent quality of any kind, whether it be local stores and mom and pop shops, organic local grown foods, organizations you believe in, or a killer band you just discovered, or have loved for a long time. Dillinger Escape Plan Finishes New Album
The Dillinger Escape Plan are set to release their new album "Option Paralysis" on March 22nd, 2010. The band has issued the following update about finishing the recording of the album:
"Jeez....has it really been three months since the last blog? Time goes by fast when you're busy SCORCHING POSEURS. Hopefully you guys all know what I'm talkin' about and the time's gone by fast for you too, and if you don't and it hasn't, SHAPE THE FUCK UP AND GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER cause that's what you should be doing at all times! Setting the proverbial flamethrower to eleven and taking aim. In fact, let that be your New Years resolution. Repeat after me: ‘I, (insert name), do solemnly swear, no matter how old and tired and worn down by idiots I may become, to make it my life's duty, to SCORCH POSEURS in whichever field I choose to operate in, no matter what it is that I'm doing...FOREVER.’ There. You just made a fucking COVENANT. Like the Jews of old, except this time the burning smell shouldn't be coming from a talking bush in the desert, it should be the stench rising up from the trail of seared dorks you leave in your wake like a just blown out match. Got it? More...
