Ferox Canorus Changes Name To Thy Kingdom Gone

Unsigned New Jersey progressive metal band Ferox Canorus has officially announced a name change to Thy Kingdom Gone. The band has also posted a pre-production demo online via Reverbnation.

Dan comments on the name change, "When a promoter called us 'Ferret Cannon', I knew the Latin name was a bit of a marketing snafu. The name has a lot of meaning to me, but honestly, it was difficult for people to remember and pronounce it, making it hard to find us. The name change reflects the changes in the band, but is also a metaphor for life. We are constantly changing. Many of us will be in completely different situations in 5 years, 10 years down the road. The name is a metaphor for the constant flow of life."

Thy Kingdom Gone's line up is as follows:

Tim Correll - Vocals
Dan Sorber - Guitars
Khalid Ilahi - Guitars
Steve Goldberg - Drums
Scott Schafer - Bass

Ferox Canorus Posts Guitar Lesson of New Song

Guitarist Dan Sorber of New Jersey progressive metal band Ferox Canorus has posted a video lesson on their song "Abandon." The video is the first part of a series entitled "Riffology." Watch the video at this location.

Dan Sorber comments on the episode, "Abandon is a progressive metal meets Iron Maiden style of song; covering everything from atmospheric violin style melodies, melodic solos, aggressive riffing and sheer speed metal madness. In this episode we cover the interlude riff. This particular idea makes a great alternate picking exercise but I also let you see, in part, how I organize the fretboard. What lies beneath the riff is a great, melodic approach to writing riffs."

Ferox Canorus Announces Lineup Changes

New Jersey progressive metal band Ferox Canorus has issued the following update:

"A few months ago we lost our singer/guitarist and Chris Colalillo, then keyboardist, took on double-duty and began singing the lead vocals as well. So there is a big discrepancy between the band's sound a few months ago and the way we sound now. The line up is stripped down (from 5 members to 4) but we actually sound better than ever. All the old recordings and most of the live videos of us out there are actually with our old singer, Ivan."

"Soon enough the EP will be finished. I just need to finish recording the guitars. The new lineup is working out great and the recordings reflect how well we work together as a team. I am super-excited that the EP is finally closing in on seeing the light of day and I can't wait to introduce everyone out there to our new and much improved sound." More...
