Megadeth Frontman To Appear On "Alex Jones Show"
MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine will guest on today's (Friday, October 5) edition of "The Alex Jones Show" to discuss politics and music. The interview is especially interesting due to Alex Jones' highly controversial stand on (and exposure of) government-sponsored terror, the elite's alleged plan to exterminate 80 percent of the population of the earth and so on. The show airs at 12 p.m. (noon) EST and can be heard live via the Internet at InfoWars.com.
As previously reported., MEGADETH's "Warchest" 4-CD+DVD collection has had its release date pushed back to October 9 from the previously announced October 2. No reason was given for the delay.
"Warchest" (Capitol/EMI) features more than six hours of digitally remastered content, hand-selected by Dave Mustaine, including 30 audio and video tracks making their global release debuts, and an additional three tracks that have never before been released in the U.S. "Warchest"'s release caps Mustaine and Capitol/EMI's in-depth MEGADETH catalog remastering and restoration campaign, which has encompassed the band's Capitol studio albums, while also adding new audio and video collections to the band's arsenal.
Armed with digitally remastered career-defining album cuts, soundtrack and compilation sides, unreleased live and studio performances and interview clips spanning more than 20 years, "Warchest" is the ultimate MEGADETH compendium. Included in the trove are a full 75-minute live set from a night on the 1990 "Clash of the Titans" tour and a DVD of highlights from a 1992 stop supporting "Countdown To Extinction" — two historical shows, both making their release debuts on "Warchest". The set's custom "vac-u-form" packaging showcases a 3-D ammo belt on its front and a 36-page booklet with an essay by Ian Christe and a comprehensive discography, complemented by an array of photos and images.

Spinner Rates Top 20 "Worst Band Fueds"
Spinner is running a top 20 of "Worst Band Fueds," of which hard rock and metal bands make several appearances including:
Marilyn Manson vs. My Chemical Romance (18)
Red Hot Chili Peppers vs. Mr. Bungle (15)
Nirvana vs. Pearl Jam (14)
Dwarves vs. QOTSA (13)
Metallica vs. Megadeth (4)
Of course the list is topped primarily by rappers, but I don't recall when individual rappers constituted a "band."

The set's custom "vac-u-form" packaging showcases a 3-D ammo belt on its front and a 36-page booklet with an essay by Ian Christe and a comprehensive discography, complemented by an array of photos and images.
Dave Mustaine says, "This is, by far, the best and most comprehensive look at all-things-MEGA if you had to get a crash-course in metal! With some of the most famous, and infamous, shows and any of the fluid, or flammable, line-ups, listening to this box set when it was all done was an adrenalin surge. I have got to hand it to my past band mates, they played great for how turbulent times could get in the blink of an eye, and I absolutely love every moment of this collection."
MEGADETH was formed in 1983, shortly after California native Mustaine parted ways with METALLICA. "When I first started the group, I wanted to form a band because I was very bitter about being fired (from METALLICA) and my fuel was revenge," said the bracingly candid musician. With something to prove, Mustaine initially set out to create the heaviest metal band ever. Beginning with the band's 1985 debut album, "Killing Is My Business ... And Business Is Good!", and evolving through a shifting series of lineups, MEGADETH crafted a dynamic, intelligent style that combined the aggressiveness of thrash metal, the improvisational nature of jazz, and cynical, articulate, politically-charged lyrics into an innovative mix that built a rabid worldwide following.
Several early albums, including 1986's classic "Peace Sells ... But Who's Buying?" and the masterful 1990 release, "Rust In Peace", solidified the band's underground metal fanbase. In 1992, MEGADETH burst into the mainstream with their fifth album, "Countdown To Extinction", which debuted at #2 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart and went on to sell more than two million copies in the U.S. alone. 1994's "Youthanasia" followed with a #4 debut, while 1997's "Cryptic Writings" yielded four Top 20 hits at rock radio, including "Trust" and "Almost Honest". By the time of 1999's "Risk", however, which featured a pop slant unheard on previous MEGADETH recordings, Mustaine himself began to grow disillusioned with the band's direction and the music industry. 2001 saw a return to the band's heavier roots on "The World Needs A Hero", but a year later, a compressed nerve in Mustaine's arm forced the singer and guitarist to put his career and MEGADETH on hiatus, while reassessing both.
Part of that reassessment involved MEGADETH's Capitol Records catalog, which began with the band's second album, "Peace Sells ... But Who's Buying?" "I always had the desire to make 'So Far, So Good ... So What!' (1988) sound good ever since it came out, because I wasn't really happy with it," says Mustaine. "I just wanted all of them to sound good." Mustaine spent months remixing, remastering, restoring — and in some cases, reconstructing — the band's Capitol catalog to bring it as close to his original vision as possible. Each reissue was packed with unreleased tracks, demos and alternate mixes, as well as new liner notes by the iconoclastic Mustaine.
MEGADETH's tenth studio album, 2004's "The System Has Failed", debuted at #18 on Billboard's Top 200, and the band's sold-out "Blackmail The Universe" tour followed, supporting the new album and Capitol's extensive catalog campaign. Dave Mustaine's Gigantour, inspired in name by the classic 1960s cartoon "Gigantor", took MEGADETH and a host of other bands selected by Mustaine across North America and in 2005 and 2006. The prophecy continues with the band's new critically acclaimed album, "United Abominations". MEGADETH will invade cities across the U.S. this fall on the band's "United Abominations Tour Of Duty".

Megadeth Ready Their "Warchest"
This October Megadeth will be re-educating the metal masses with the release of their box set Warchest. Dave Mustaine and EMI have collaborated to create the ultimate Megadeth 4 CD/DVD box set that includes over six hours of metal mastery. Armed with digitally re-mastered career-defining album cuts, soundtrack and compilation sides, unreleased live and studio performances and interview clips spanning more than 20 years, Warchest is the ultimate Megadeth compendium. Included are a full 75-minute live set from a night on the 1990 “Clash of the Titans” tour and a DVD of highlights from a 1992 stop supporting Countdown – two historical shows, both making their release debuts on Warchest. “This is, by far, the best and most comprehensive look at all-things-Mega if you had to get a crash-course in metal……I absolutely love every moment of this collection,” says Mustaine.
Mustaine Says He's Had Several Shots At Success
Nobody subtlety from a band named Megadeth. Nor does singer-guitarist Dave Mustaine. On the band's new album, "United Abominations," Mustaine, 46, draws upon reserves of youthful fury for tunes like "Amerikhastan" and "Washington Is Next!"
"Heavy metal is a barometer for our political well-being," says Mustaine, who plays Irving Plaza on Wednesday. "When we're facing war, music like this is popular because it's talking about aggression. I can't tell you one soldier I ever met that said he was listening to Duran Duran."
Despite a legendarily revolving lineup, Mustaine has managed to give Megadeth, which he formed in 1983, a consistent sound, with the tight crunch of his guitar always front and center.
"I like to punch my guitar in the stomach," says Mustaine. "I have the aggressive side covered, and the other guys have the beautiful side."
Several years back, though, fans saw a shockingly tender side of Mustaine in "Metallica: Some Kind of Monster," when he confronted drummer Lars Ulrich about the hurt that Ulrich and vocalist James Hetfield caused him when they kicked him out of the band in 1983.
But whatever water lies under that bridge, Megadeth, with more than 20 million albums sold worldwide, seems to have all the love it needs.
"I've had a couple of shots of success because of that relationship with the fans," he says, "just saying that I did some things I'm not proud of. It keeps us connected to them because we all do that."
Megadeth Bassist Checks In
MEGADETH bassist James Lomenzo has issued the following update:
Gotta let you all know what a sensational tour this has been so far! Playing some of my old favorite haunts has really been a blast and getting to meet some of you on and around the venues has been fantastically re-affirming. From what you've been relaying to us, we're doin' right by the fans both old and new and to the Megadeth legacy. I'm so proud to be a part of this "resurgence" (the word most of you use when you describe your perception of Megadeth at large). All who have been present for our shows thus far from Alaska to last nights Milwaukee Wisconsin gig have really come full on and brought us the metal, in as much as we have tried to bring it to you making for some genuinely memorable shows. You have my humblest thanks.
My wife reminded me to share this with you so here goes... I ran into an old friend of mine in the hotel lobby in Portland a week and a half ago, Slash. We chatted a bit and then he got serious (seemingly) and said, 'Thanks to Megadeth I've got to go to traffic school!' I asked, 'Why?' and he explained, 'I Love the new album [United Abominations], every-time I drive I've got it crankin' in my car... I've gotten two speeding tickets thanks to you guys and now I've got to go to fuckin traffic school!' Of course, I apologized and then thanked him.
Hey, thanks for all the write-in's on my sticky in the musicians forum, it's been great chatting bass with you and watching some of you interact, keep those posts coming! Also, thanks to some of you for the great comments on my SayNow message board, I really dig hearing from you guys, what a great opportunity to hear your voices individually and get to catch up with some of my older fans. Like Dave (Mustaine), I'm toying with ideas on how to make communication on SayNow more interactive and fun so stay tuned."

Dave Mustaine Issues Gigantour Update
MEGADETH frontman Dave Mustaine has issued the following update on the Gigantour.com web site:
"Today is Monday and there is one week left before we leave for Alaska. We will come home after that for 16 days and then it is off to the Pac Rim, and eventually to Australia, to start this awesome line-up of Gigantour 2007 in Australia, better known as G.2007.OZ!
"I know not everyone here is a MEGADETH or Dave Mustaine fan, but hopefully that will change after we play for you, or better yet, meet with you, and until then chat and post with you here.
"I don't use slang or abbr. much, due to there being so many ages and different nationalities here. I want to be as clear with what I say so that our friends around the rest of the world that cannot come see us, can 'live out' the concert through you loyal metal fans; through your ears and eyes, through the one thing that we all have in common — love for this kind of music!.
"Gigantour this year will consist of four bands again, as you may have seen the way we did it on our 'Maiden Voyage' last year. We played with Max Cavalera and his band SOULFLY, Michael and Angela of ARCH ENEMY, and the guys from CALIBAN (which I didn't get a chance to hang out with as much as I would have liked to) in 2006, and while I think most musicians dream of playing in 'exotic, far-away places,' the Aussie audience, it is something to be reckoned with. I mean beautiful tan faces of guys and girls of all ages, rugged lads and lasses from all over the Island, and they have such a 'Don't-fuck-with-me-and-I-won't-fuck-with-you' attitude in the pit, that while it seems friendly, there is also a very powerful and intimidating energy that you know could light a small city and it could change into a fire-breathing dragon!
"Whew!!!
"Seeing the guys in STATIC-X should be interesting because we haven't seen them since we last toured in the '90s and they were just converging on the metal scene - from my knowledge, that is. I also am friends with Dez from DEVILDRIVER and we met years ago when he was in COAL CHAMBER and Sharon Osbourne managed them. Dez promises to sit me down with a good bottle of wine, and there's no better place so far, since I really like Australia Shiraz (but what the hell do I know — as long as it doesn't say 'Maddog 20-20' on it I am good).
"And how can I forget LACUNA COIL? I think that everyone will be expecting Ms. Scabbia to join me/us to sing 'A Tout Le Monde' and while I hope that happens, I haven't asked her yet, so keep your fingers crossed! :-)
"Lastly, to the good people of Perth, as you know many years ago MEGADETH first came to Australia, and it was great! We fell in love with Oz, and we thought we were coming back soon after our first trip there; we just needed to get through Japan.
"Well, that is were the aforementioned Dragon of Oz first popped up, and we had to cancel Australia because someone (not me) ran out of illegal, medical type, sniffing or casually injectable street powder! So, naturally the blame was on us, (me, really and i wasn't the one who ran out!) and it was bad. We didn't return for a great many years.
"This time though, I remember playing with so much passion and excitement on Gigantour 2006 OZ. I have never felt so loved and anticipated by the Aussie fans in all my years of our records being available down under; from the several concerts we have played, to the 'almost self-imposed prison' we damn near put ourselves into. Yes, I am thrilled to come back to Australia, and especially to go to Perth: it almost isn't a real OZ Tour if you can't do both sides of the country. I mean it is nice, but Australia is about as old as the USA and about as big, and it would be like only playing NY, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida and thinking that that is a US tour?!?!
"There is also going to be a celebration of sorts, because I can remember walking down a street to dinner with our partner, A.J. Maddah, in Australia for Gigantour for 2006 and 2007, and we were talking about the subject matter that makes up the song Amerikhastan. A.J. is a genius and we had some very stimulating conversations, some of which was about the Statue of Liberty, some on Halliburton's involvement, some on the republican scandal with young pages' pants being pulled down 'in secret,' by some guys 'in the Senate' and 'in the House of Representatives,' or more apropos, 'in the closet,' and how some democrats don't care, and will pull anyones pants down.
"So, that's it for me for the week. Stay tuned as we get the other bands aware of this great community here, and get the band-members, webmasters, and entire entourage with them, including all of the online fan-bases feeling welcome here.
"It is my personal invitation to become part of this forum and help us spread the cheer internationally of Gigantour as we all have a hand in building a festival for international metal fans around the world.
"There is also plenty of solid official MEGADETH information that can be found on us and about Gigantour that may not have been posted here yet, so please also check Megadeth.com, Myspace.com/megadeth, Gigantour.com, and Davemustaine.com (coming soon).
"Time for my morning coffee - I love you guys, and will see you soon!!!
"Aussie Aussie Aussie!"
Gigiantour 2008 Line Up "Half Way Done"
MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's web site:
"I have been trying, albeit unsuccessfully, to record a podcast and it is not sounding too good. I think the studio has made me too picky. Anyway, I will be sending this MegaFanClub-only [MEGADETH's official fan club] podcast of answers to '10 Questions' and some small updates regularly.
"I was thinking of asking Justis [Dave's son] to ask me the questions, but his new quest to play in the Superbowl has drawn him away from music; and he is pretty good too so it is sad.
"Maybe I will ask Electra [Dave's daughter], but she is currently starting filming a television show with wrestling legend Bill Goldberg's lovely and talented wife Wanda Goldberg about taking care of animals and I am sure there will be more to post once the show officially launches its press campaign. I am sure I will get it done, and in the mean time today when I was going over the questions, I noticed how excited some of you were in the questions. Well, I am excited to answer your questions and give you updates on all-things-MEGA.
"I am sorry but the '10 Questions' are only going to be for MegaFanClub members, and members should send in only one question; multiple questions or two-part questions may not be delivered through to make it into my hands on the road. But there will be samples of it here to give you a peek at what they will sound like.
"I just approved some really great new items for your MEGADETH merchandise collection, and we are halfway done with the talent lineup for Gigantour in the States next year.
"We have a contest coming up surrounding the guitar I will be using in the [upcoming MEGADETH] video [for 'Never Walk Alone...A Call To Arms']. And we are considering letting the fan club members know where the location of the shoot is."
MEGADETH's U.S. tour this fall kicks off in Anchorage, Alaska on September 4, taking the band through 24 U.S. cites ending up in Norfolk Virginia on October 6. Support on the dates will come from IN THIS MOMENT and THE CONFESSION.
Ministry To Be Joined By Megadeth Members
MINISTRY mastermind and industrial metal pioneer Al Jourgensen has revealed the band's lineup for its final tour, which is expected to kick off early next year. It is as follows:
Al Jourgensen - Vocals
Jimmy DeGrasso (MEGADETH, Y&T, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES) - Drums
David Ellefson (MEGADETH, F5, TEMPLE OF BRUTALITY) - Bass
Tommy Victor (PRONG) - Guitar
Sin Quirin (THE REVOLTING COCKS) - Guitar
John Bechdel (FEAR FACTORY, KILLING JOKE) - Keyboards
In a recent interview with Germany's Rock Hard magazine, Jourgensen said, "We're tourng pretty extensively – we're doing like the CHER farewell tour. [Laughs] It's gonna be, like, 20 weeks of mayhem around the world, and then we're done."
After 27 years, 11 studio albums, four Grammy nominations, and plenty of pain, MINISTRY will release its final album, "The Last Sucker", on September 18. This will give Jourgensen plenty of time to devote himself to expanding his borderland compound, 13th Planet Records.
"I've got a lot of side-projects and new projects I want to focus on," explained Jourgensen. "We have our our own label, 13th Planet Records, we're building, and I want to sign, produce and collaborate with other artists. Being in the studio writing, recording and collaborating is my favorite part of this snake-oil industry. I'd rather be behind the console than behind the mic. Plus, I kinda like the synchronicity of Dubya and MINISTRY riding off into the sunset hand in hand."
"The Last Sucker" is the third in an unrelenting and uber-critical trilogy aimed at exposing the foils, failures and fabrications perpetrated by the George W. Bush administration. The CD, which follows 2004's "Houses of the Molé" and last year's "Rio Grande Blood", is the final nail in the Dubya coffin. The album was produced and recorded by Jourgensen himself at his 13th Planet compound in El Paso, TX, with musicians Thomas Victor (PRONG) on guitars, Paul Raven (KILLING JOKE, PRONG) on bass and guitarist Sin Quirin (THE REVOLTING COCKS). In addition, Burton C. Bell (FEAR FACTORY) makes a vocal appearance on "Die In A Crash", as well as the album's final two songs, "End of Days" parts One and Two.
"The Last Sucker" track listing:
01. Let's Go
02. Watch Yourself
03. Life Is Good
04. The Dick Song
05. The Last Sucker
06. No Glory
07. Death & Destruction
08. Roadhouse Blues
09. Die In a Crash
10. End of Days (Pt. 1)
11. End of Days (Pt. 2)

Dave Mustaine Posts Update On New Video And More
MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted this message on the band's official forum:
"Droogies!
Today was an early day for me; I was up before the sun (and not because I didn't go to sleep), and I hear a noise in the front room of my home, again it is 4:30AM. Electra and her friends that stayed over (Electra had a party for her high scores in school) and they couldn't possibly be up at that hour of the morning. I mean they may be young, but they are still girls and like to sleep. But there they were, all of them had woken up and were trying to monkey around with the games and entertainment stuff. All I know is I heard a clunk and I thought, I am going to look like Hugh Hefner (or Yngwie) in some robe with a shotgun (and no, I don't have a gun) on the morning news, after I kill whatever is in my house at 4:30AM.
I would have given someone's eye teeth for a 12 gauge 'silly string' shotgun at the exact second I saw it was the pre-teen slumber party dwarves! Boy, that'll get your blood flowing. Whatev! Life is flying by!
The last five weeks of our nine week break went by in a blast of driving back and forth, with all our family's in tow, and for meetings with/for the band and just taking some solitary vacation time to recharge the batteries. And the rest of our time home is going to be nuts for me with getting revved up to go, but I am going to make the best of it, and we are having so much time together with Electra, Justis, and Pam that I know I will have a great end of summer with you all.
The next two weeks are busy!
There is the video for 'Never Walk Alone' that is going to be shot at the end of this month [more later] and its terrific storyline. I am more excited about this video shoot coming up than I have been since shooting 'Holy Wars' and 'Hangar 18'.
We decided on two new songs to add to the set; one (from 'Countdown To Extinction' - in honor of one of my best friends) is 'Ashes In Your Mouth' and the other, from 'Killing Is My Business', etc., is 'The Skull Beneath The Skin'. This should please a lot of old school enthusiasts. Or just old people in general.
On the release front, 'That One Night' has been certified Gold in the USA and I want to thank every one of you that bought this DVD. It's also cool to see other countries try for a few bars the 'aguante MEGADETH' line. I heard the CD with the bonus tracks on it for 'TON' and it brought back great memories of that special evening. Man, I get to relive it every time I hear that record!
Our box-set 'Warchest' is coming out later this year and there will be a formal announcement of all the details as we get closer, but I am sure this is a great study of what my band set out to be, Sure some time s the performances were off, but there was a vibe, and an attitude that you could touch in the air it was so thick. There is also a DVD of a very rare performance from the RIP era line-up.
We are starting to talk to our endorsers about our appearances for NAMM this year, so stay tuned and we will let you know about that. I believe that me and the Drover boys are supposed to make a couple of visits to our endorser's distributors while on this next leg. And since we aren't going to be able to make it to all of the stores, the good folks at Dean and our dealers are going to work that out for themselves. We would love to show you some MEGADETH stuff and why we play Dean and Shawn play Ddrums (cuz he can't spell and neither can they!)
So, here is the scoop on the Pac Rim; we have been approached and are furiously negotiating, routing, budgeting, and trying to book our Asian tour from November 21 - December 2 to Surabaya, Indonesia; Downtown East, Singapore; Taipei, Taiwan; Bangalore, India, Bangkok, Thailand, Beijing and Shanghai, China. We are also doing Japan as you know (a favorite of the Drovers), and are trying to close South Korea this trip too. This will be officially announced and confirmed here.
Now Australia is going to rock, and I know who the other bands are that are on Gigantour 2007OZ and I am pumped to not only see them all, but maybe even play a song or two with them, or they with us. I also get to keep my promise about showing the Drovers how big Australia really is now. Speaking of Gigantour, I talked to management about Gigantour 2008 and the line-up of bands we are considering are pretty stylish Metal bands. I'm so glad not to have to deal with the politics of uncool line-ups for tours like back in the old days. You either hooked up with a band(s) you totally gelled with, or not and the tour dragged on.
Michael Sarna has started work on the Gigantour DVD project while I am resting in San Diego, and we will have a tentative announcement this week on our status and what and where we are in the process, which songs by which bands will be included, etc. We also need to wrap up the edit on 'The Making Of United Abominations'. I am sure to have a lot of stuff to keep me busy through the holidays, but the most important thing is that I am one day away from starting going through all of my riff and files and tapes again from the last tour, and from before in my Pro-Tools rig.
I am going to watch Blazing Saddles with my family and have a good laugh.
Love and Bruises,
Dave Mustaine"

Classic British Metal Documentary Posted Online
In 1989, BBC2 television aired a five-part music genre documentary series in the UK called “Arena.” One of the episodes, “Heavy Metal,” featured live footage from Metallica, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Napalm Death, Motörhead, Slayer and others.
The production features no narration, instead relying on interview commentary and concert clips to place the viewer in the heart of the metal scene and elliptically tell the story of the genre.
Various scenes specifically delve into metal culture: a club full of kids, but no bands, mosh around a dancefloor to music broadcast on a PA; and a kid who couldn’t be more than 10 shreds out solos with more agility than most thrash metal veterans.
There are also straight-out humorous moments, like when an interviewer asks W. Axl Rose, “Do you have anything in common with Iron Maiden, and he replies without a pause, “I hope not.”
You can watch this metal portion of the feature on Google Videos.
