Diamond Plate Recording New Album

Chicago thrashers Diamond Plate have begun recording their new studio album, which is due to be released later this year on Earache Records.

The as-yet untitled follow-up to Diamond Plate's 2011 debut album "Generation Why?" is being recorded with producer Neil Kernon at Studio Chicago in the band's hometown. Diamond Plate lead guitarist Konrad Kupiec comments:

"We are beyond excited to announce that we are in the studio recording our second album! The legendary Neil Kernon is helping us capture the new songs and the new energy of the band in the traditional way that classic records were made. We decided to step away from the modern approach to albums by recording the band playing live in the same room together and keeping everything real. Everybody can expect this record to be faster and heavier than ever, but most of all they can expect the unexpected." More...

Diamond Plate Recruits New Vocalist

Chicago thrashers Diamond Plate have confirmed the addition of Matt Ares to the band as their new vocalist and bassist, following the departure of former front man Jon Macak.

The band has started working on the follow-up to the 2011 debut album, "Generation Why?" with the new album due to be released in 2013. The band comments:

"Over the past few months we have been writing and demoing songs for the next album. During that time, we felt that the chemistry between Jon and the rest of the band wasn't as strong as it needed to be. We decided to move on, and find someone that shared the same passion to create the music that we've always wanted to make. We wish Jon all the best, and we want to thank him for being a part of this band.

"We are extremely excited to announce and welcome Matt Ares into the band as vocalist and bassist. Matt has really been a breath of fresh air for us, and in the first two weeks of jamming with him we were able to create an entirely new batch of songs and finish demoing the second album. Matt's voice and playing add new dimensions to our sound, and we can't wait for everyone to hear the band now. Thanks for always supporting, and keep your ears open for a new Diamond Plate record in 2013!" More...

Diamond Plate Vocalist To Miss Rest Of Tour

Diamond Plate has announced that bassist and lead vocalist Jon Macak will be departing from the band's tour with Overkill and God Forbid to return home due to a recent family emergency. The band has decided to continue on with the remainder of the trek with tour manager and close friend Dan Valente filling in on bass and vocal duties.

Jon Macak stated, "I am very sad to say that I will not be able to be a part of the last six Killfest dates. I will be flying home to Chicago Sunday morning to be with my mother who is very ill and needs my support. There is a chance that she does not have much time left so I want to be by her side as much as possible. The rest of the band will finish the tour without me and I want to thank everyone for their support and understanding."

Diamond Plate also added, "We all wish Jon and his family strength through this incredibly hard time. Words can't describe how much Jon's presence will be missed on stage as a frontman, but most importantly our best friend. After these shows without him, we will come back stronger than ever and with a new understanding of what it means to be a band. An incredible thanks goes out to Dan Valente, our tour manager, who will help us finish the tour by handling bass and vocal duties. Thank you to all the fans for the support and understanding, and please keep Jon's family in your positive thoughts."
