Diamond Plate recently posted a new song online titled "At the Mountains of Madness," and the band will also be heading out on a U.S. tour with Kittie and Dirge Within in August. Details are available at this location.
Chicago thrashers Diamond Plate have released a new track titled "At the Mountains of Madness," which is the first song to be released from the band's forthcoming debut album "Generation Why?" The album was recorded with producer Neil Kernon (Judas Priest, Nevermore, Deicide, 3 Inches of Blood) and is due to be released on August 29th through Earache Records.
You can listen to the new track now at this location (e-mail required). Diamond Plate lead guitarist Konrad Kupiec comments:
"All of us couldn't be more excited to release 'At the Mountains of Madness' as the first song off 'Generation Why?'. With the original video for this song nearing 100,000 views on YouTube, 'Mountains' is arguably the song most people know us by, and we want to give old and new fans the perfect representation of how much we've improved over the past few years. With this album, the band sounds tighter and heavier, while the song-writing is more focused than ever.
"The song is inspired by the H.P. Lovecraft novel of the same name, although we went deeper than the classic horror story of the novel and made our own social commentary present in the lyrics. As to our theme, that is for the listener to interpret and figure out.
"Right now we're actually hard at work at writing for the second album (very inspired and not wasting any time haha), while simultaneously preparing to hit the road for the first time in August. With touring plans already in the works until next year, we will be out for a long time."
Diamond Plate will also be joining Kittie and Dirge Within on a U.S. tour. Details are available at this location.

The energy of our music is best felt live and we plan on destroying any place we play. Although this is a different kind of metal crowd for us, it is only a beginning step. See you on the road; we'll be out for a very long time!"

Chicago thrashers Diamond Plate recently finished recording their debut album, titled "Generation Why?" The album is due to be released later this year on Earache Records. "Generation Why?" was recorded with producer Neil Kernon at RaxTrax Studios in the band's hometown of Chicago, Illinois. A video update has also been posted online, which can be viewed below.
Diamond Plate guitarist Konrad Kupiec comments:
"For the first time, we've been able to capture what our band is capable of. The months of practice have payed off, and we couldn't be prouder to release this record as our debut. Our songs came out tighter and heavier than ever, and the crushing mix by Neil has taken our sound to an entirely new level."
A previous message from the band while in the studio reads: "Working with Neil has been incredible. Our plan is simple: bring together great songs, playing, and production with an insane amount of energy. We want to focus on capturing a vibe on this album that hasn't been felt in metal in a long time. People will be amazed at how much improvement and strength there will be on this debut."
Earache Records has issued the following announcement about signing a record deal with Diamond Plate:
"Earache Records is proud to announce a new signing to our diverse and talented roster. Diamond Plate is a young, dynamic thrash band from Chicago, IL who have taken the midwest metal scene by storm and now have their eyes set on global domination. Formed in 2008, this 3-piece high-energy act encapsulates the spirit of 'The Big Four' and has already earned high honors from respected outlets such as Terrorizer magazine, who named Diamond Plate as one of the Best Unsigned Bands in the very year that the band first got together.
"Currently in their late teens, guitarist Konrad Kuplec, drummer Jim Nicademus, and vocalist/bassist Jon Macak have played with some of the world's biggest metal acts. They have also have earned a reputation as an absolutely raucous live act. Despite all of the great praise in high places, Diamond Plate feels their fans are the most important key to their early success."
Konrad Kuplec also commented: "The BEST praise we can get is having a kid seeing us at one of our shows for the first time and then coming over to our merch table and buying a shirt or CD. It's the most humbling and coolest feeling in the world. I'll always be grateful for the support our fans give us."
The band's full-length debut album is set for release in 2011.
Stormspell Records has announce plans for a series of split CDs entitled "Thrash Clash."
