"Once again, we’re sharing the stage with a wonderful string ensemble and, this time, in some of the best live music clubs across North America. About a year ago, we had the pleasure to perform a special show in our hometown with a classical string quintet. We filmed the entire event and, a few months later, it became our first ever official live Blu-Ray, An Evening In Perugia. Right after that, we’ve been literally flooded with requests from all over the world to make it happen abroad. Everyone in our team, including band, management and label, could only work at making it happen as soon as possible.
"So here we are, bringing the full experience across North America in March/April 2019. For the first time in the history of Death Metal, a band is touring with a full string ensemble. Every night will be a night to remember, featuring the longest set we’ve ever played in the continent. No excuses to miss it then, every single detail is going to be perfect and, above all, it might be a once-in-a-lifetime event… Don’t hesitate and get your ticket before it’s too late! Let’s write a new page of Death Metal history together!" - Francesco Paoli

Fleshgod Apocalypse Posts New Visualizer Video
Italian orchestral-death metal maestros Fleshgod Apocalypse has released their much anticipated 5th record, "Veleno," today through Nuclear Blast Records. To celebrate, the group led by new (old) frontman Francesco Paoli has unleashed a brand new visualizer video for the track "Worship And Forget," which can be viewed below.
Francesco comments, "The time has finally come. I lost count of the number of times I wrote and deleted this statement since it's almost impossible to find the right words to describe the feeling or explain how much this new album means to us. The fifth release, apparently, is crucial for every band and for us, considering what we've been through in the last couple of years, it is even more… it's a new beginning, a new era. I'll just say that 'Veleno' embodies this spirit, being the best portrayal of this renewed strength within the band. So, let's cut the chatter and let the music speak!" More...

Italian for "venom," "Veleno" marks Fleshgod Apocalypse’s first record in 3 years, since the release of their critically acclaimed record "King" (2016). The 'metal part' of "Veleno" was recorded in Rome, Italy at Bloom Recording Studio and Kick Studio with long-standing collaborator Marco Mastrobuono, while the "orchestral part" - the ensembles - were tracked at Musica Teclas Studio in Perugia. Fleshgod Apocalypse then took the effort over to Grammy-nominated Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, THE Black Dahlia Murder, Epica) at Hansen Studios in Denmark for mixing and mastering. The entire production of "Veleno" took, according to Paoli, about three months. Artwork for the album was created by Travis Smith (Avenged Sevenfold, Opeth, Katatonia). More...

Francesco Paoli on working with director Giovanni Bucci: "I met Giovanni Bucci a couple of years ago, while collaborating on his own band ODDKO. We soon became good friends, so we started talking about having him as director for Fleshgod’s new videos. He is a true visionary, with amazing directing and production skills. He’s been making music videos for bands like Korn, and he also has a shining career in the movie industry. We all agreed that he would’ve been the key to a huge step forward for us, visually and artistically, especially on a video like this, which was also extremely complex to produce and shoot. The result is on your screen now, and it's better than any description. Just hit the play button and enjoy." More...

70.000 Tons of Metal: Day 1

After sitting out the 2018 edition Metalunderground.com writer and photographer Georg Wilfinger boarded The World’s Biggest Heavy Metal Cruise, 70.000 Tons of Metal again, taking place January 31st through February 4, 2019.
The largest and longest-running sea travel of its kind this year headed again from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Labadee, Haiti and back, featuring 60 bands playing 123 live shows on 4 stages to fans from over 74 different countries. For most fans on board it’s "the" annual metal highlight. Below you can see George's personal extensive photo-recap of the events, scenery, and shows of his favourite bands taking place on "The Independence Of The Seas" metal-battleship:
Day 1: Dark Funeral – Fleshgod Apocalypse – Soulfly – Bloodbath
Due to weather delays on the Northern American side - the snow and cold cancelling almost every flight – some bands and co-sponsors of the event arrived late at Port Everglades. So the boat was almost two hours late, when leaving the dock and the first bands were already performing their shows. Having cruised the 70K before, I could notice some nice improvements onboard, lots of new eateries and bars, even in the indoor venues.
Swedish black metal band from Stockholm Dark Funeral were afforded the Royal Theater, the biggest of the three indoor venues, performing their one hour set:
