Mnemic Talk About Opening For Metallica

"We are beyond stoked, beyond surprised, and MORE than happy to be a part of the METALLICA gig in Aarhus, Denmark!! It's definitely a dream come true for all of us," writes in MNEMIC guitarist Mircea. "It simply CAN NOT get any bigger for us to say the words, 'Yeah, we've opened up for Metallica!' It's definitely a nice tap on the shoulder for all the hard work and hard moments MNEMIC have gone through. We would especially like to thank Lars and the mighty Metallica for choosing MNEMIC for this fine day of pure Danish Metal. We will of course make this day extra special, extra heavy, and extra metal!"

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich issued an Easter greeting in Danish (translated text follows) announcing that Metallica had "decided to make our Aarhus day to be of a Danish enterprise... drumroll please... We have actually asked the awesome Danish bands Volbeat and MNEMIC to be a part of the event on the 13th of July, and they both freakin' said, 'Yes please!' so, game on and all the good stuff! It's going to be a pure Danish enterprise. Well, yeah, fuck it, 'tallica is only one-fourth Danish, but let us celebrate our Danish-ness, where and whenever we can, especially when we aren't home that much. With other words, here is the short version: I am happy to be able to announce that Volbeat and MNEMIC will make the Metallica show in Aarhus the 13th of July as Danish as possible."

MNEMIC recently completed a European tour with the Deftones in support of their latest album, Passenger, which was praised by Outburn Magazine for its "energetic execution, dazzling chops, polyrhythmic pummeling, and soaring melodic anthems."

Produced by Fear Factory's Christian Olde Wolbers at Track Record Studios (Kiss, Megadeth, Aerosmith) in Los Angeles, Passenger features artwork by Asterik Studios (Anthrax, Unearth) plus guest vocal appearances by Jeff Walker (Carcass, Brujeria) and Shane Embury (Napalm Death, Brujeria). MNEMIC also completed a video for "Meaningless" with Revolver Film director Patric Ullaeus, which has aired on MTV2's Headbangers Ball and can be viewed here.

And for those of you in Denmark lucky enough to score tickets after we got done with Lars' guest list, we're spreading the Danish love with... just read Lars' extra special Easter greeting...in Danish!

Stream Mnemic's "Passenger" In Full On MP3.com

MNEMIC's third album, "Passenger," is available for streaming in its entirety prior to the album's North American street date of February 6th on MP3.com.

In the band's current feature in Metal Edge Magazine, MNEMIC guitarist Mircea discusses the new album and his hopes for what it will accomplish:

"This is more of a resurrection album for the band. The melodic became more melodic, and the brutal became more brutal as we succeeded in finding the complete MNEMIC sound. We really took the time that we needed to write songs we could be happy with. We didn't just use the first or the best riff... we demo-ed [the songs], chopped them up, and put them back together. [New singer] Guillaume really did a phenomenal job with vocals. He was the missing piece of the puzzle and simply lifted us to the next level. I hope this release finally puts MNEMIC on the map. I don't want us to just drown in the ocean of all other releases, bands, and labels that are out there in today's metal."

MNEMIC are currently on the "Revolver Presents: The Chains Of Humanity Tour" with God Forbid, Goatwhore, Arsis, and The Human Abstract/Byzantine through February 21st, where the tour will end in Montreal, Québec. States Mircea:

"We toured the U.S. with God Forbid last year with Meshuggah and instantly became friends after some heavy partyin'. YOUR destination will be HELL if you don't show up!"

Produced by Fear Factory's Christian Olde Wolbers at Track Record Studios (Kiss, Megadeth, Aerosmith) in Los Angeles, Passenger features artwork by Asterik Studios (Anthrax, Unearth) and includes guest vocal appearances by Jeff Walker (Carcass, Brujeria) and Shane Embury (Napalm Death, Brujeria). MNEMIC's video for "Meaningless," directed by Revolver Film's Patric Ullaeus, will soon be airing on MTV2's Headbangers Ball.

Passenger will be available for streaming between February 2nd - 6th, 2007.

Mnemic Release Teaser MP3 For New Album

A teaser track of "Meaningless," "In The Nothingness Black," "Psykorgasm," and "Pigfuck" - four songs from the new MNEMIC album, Passenger, which is due out on February 6th, 2007 - is available for download/streaming here.

Regarding the recording of the new album, MNEMIC guitarist Mircea shares:

"Warren Riker did an excellent job tracking drums for us, which meant the guitars HAD to sound great. The first couple of days we experimented with a bunch of different [amp] setups and heads - Krank, Diesel, ISP, and VHTs - not to mention a bunch of different string gauges because of our new and different tuning. We have been using ESP, Caparison, and Jackson guitars to make the sound more diverse in comparison to the last album, where we had just recorded everything on only one guitar."

Fresh off the Last Stab tour with labelmates SOILWORK, THREAT SIGNAL, and Darkest Hour, MNEMIC debuted their new lead singer, Guillaume Bideau, to mass fan approval, though the band suffered a small live setback when Bideau fractured his kneecap in a freak accident that required a hospital visit. No matter, as this provided MNEMIC's newest member with the opportunity to demonstrate his dedication to the rock 'n' roll lifestyle by performing the last three shows while sitting in a chair... with his knee wrapped in duct tape. You can check out photos from the tour and Passenger's recording session here.

Produced by Fear Factory's Christian Olde Wolbers at Track Record Studios (Kiss, Megadeth, Aerosmith) in Los Angeles, engineered by Warren Riker (Down, The Fugees), and mixed by fellow countryman Tue Madsen (Halford, The Haunted) at Antfarm Studios in Denmark, Passenger features artwork by Asterik Studios (Anthrax, Unearth) plus guest vocal appearances by Jeff Walker (Carcass, Brujeria) and Shane Embury (Napalm Death, Brujeria). MNEMIC have also completed a video for "Meaningless" with Revolver Film director Patric Ullaeus.

The final track listing for Passenger is as follows:

01. Humanaut
02. In The Nothingness Black
03. Meaningless
04. Psykorgasm
05. Pigfuck
06. In Control
07. Electric I'd Hypocrisy
08. Stuck Here
09. What's Left
10. Shape Of The Formless
11. The Eye On Your Back
12. Zero Synchronized (Japanese Bonus Track)

Byzantine To Begin Recording, Break For Tour

BYZANTINE will tentatively enter the studio December 8 to record the follow-up to 2005's '...And They Shall Take Up Serpents' before taking a break from the recording process to support God Forbid for two weeks on a tour package also boasting Goatwhore, Mnemic and Arsis. Upon completion of the tour, BYZANTINE will return to the studio to finish recording. Production this time around will again be handled by Aaron Fisher and BYZANTINE for the yet-untitled full-length, due for a 2007 release through Prosthetic Records.

"We have so far 11 songs in the bag and most likely will have 15 penned by the time pre-production starts," vocalist/guitarist OJ Ojeda previously stated. "Normally we write 10 and use 10, but riffs are flowing like mad and all four of us are writing material this time, which has been very interesting. All I can say is if this album doesn't kick our first two albums' asses, something is wrong! Some songs are pure thrash, some songs are off time as hell and some songs are depressing and dark. This album WILL be our finest effort."

In other news, Byzantine will appear on the upcoming EyeHateGod tribute record, 'For The Sick: A Tribute to Eyehategod,' performing the track "Shoplift." The record is currently slated for a Feb. 20 release through Season Mist America.

Here are the BYZANTINE tour dates: More...

Seattle Metal Festival Returns In 2007

Returning after a three-year hiatus, the Seattle Metal Festival will be on Jan 20, 2007, at The Showbox in Seattle, Washington.

This year’s lineup – a mixture of metal veterans from the US and abroad, as well as up and coming national acts - will be: Overkill, God Forbid, Destruction, Into Eternity, Ghoatwhore, The Human Abstract, Mnemic, and Arsis.

The festival is promoted by Frank Hetzel of Howitzer Productions and the main sponsor is Dragon Monkey Media. Hetzel is the creator of the Seattle Metal Festival and the Northwest Deathfest, as well as the promoter of many metal shows in the Seattle area.

“I put the Seattle Metal Fest on the back burner for a while because I felt that it should become a stronger festival- a show with great national metal acts that people would travel from all over the Pacific Northwest to see,” said Hetzel. “It took some time to work out the logistics for a festival of this size and with the help of Dragon Monkey Media; the show is coming together smoothly.”

Dragon Monkey Media LLC is a Northwest-based media company promoting local musicians and artists by providing an internet resource to allow them to showcase their artistic works through its associated record label, Hot Monkey Records, and its affiliated production company, Dark Angel Productions.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, November 11 through Tickets West (www.ticketswest.com) and The Showbox box office, as well as seattlemetalfest.com, Silver Platters in Seattle, and Scrape Records in Vancouver, B.C. The Showbox is located at 1426 1st Ave. in Seattle, WA (www.showboxonline.com, 206-628-3151). Tickets will be $25.00 advance and $30.00 day of show. This is an all ages event with alcohol available for purchase to those at least 21 years old with ID.

Mnemic Take On Sartre and Nietzsche With New Album

Denmark's self-professed "fusion future metal" band MNEMIC have named their upcoming third studio album Passenger, which is scheduled for release in Europe on February 2nd and in North America on February 6th.

In regards to the potent lyrical content, MNEMIC guitarist Mircea states:

"It's thematically built around the meaning of existence, or in other words, the philosophy of Existentialism. There are several philosophical positions - one of them being the value and meaning of the world around the individual, and the other is that Existentialism is often associated with anxiety, dread, awareness of death, and freedom. We chose this subject and theme mainly because it's so vast, and second, because we have always been big fans of Stanly Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey" movie. We wanted to do something like that, just with music and lyrics."

Produced by MNEMIC, Fear Factory's Christian Olde Wolbers, and Warren Riker (Down, Crowbar, The Fugees) at Track Record Studios (Kiss, Megadeth, Aerosmith) in Los Angeles and mixed by fellow countryman Tue Madsen (Halford, The Haunted) at Antfarm Studios in Denmark, 2007's Passenger will feature guest vocal appearances by Jeff Walker (Carcass, Brujeria) and Shane Embury (Napalm Death, Brujeria) and artwork by Asterik Studios (Anthrax, Unearth).

The tracklisting for Passenger is as follows:

01. Humanaut
02. In The Nothingness Black
03. Meaningless
04. Psykorgasm
05. Pigfuck
06. In Control
07. Electric I'd Hypocrisy
08. Stuck Here
09. What's Left
10. Shape Of The Formless
11. The Eye On Your Back
Japanese Bonus Track: Zero Synchronized

MNEMIC are currently preparing to shoot a video for "Meaningless" at Revolver Studios in Gothenberg, Sweden with Revolver Film director Patric Ullaeus. The band's new lead vocalist, Guillaume, will make his live North American debut on the upcoming tour with labelmates Soilwork and Threat Signal plus Darkest Hour. The band will also debut "Shape Of The Formless" off the new album.

Mixing Of The New Mnemic Album To Take Place

Danish modern metallers MNEMIC are preparing to enter Antfarm Studios in Aarhus, Denmark with producer Tue Madsen (HALFORD, THE HAUNTED) to begin mixing their as-yet-untitled third album. So far, out of the 13 tracks recorded, the following songtitles are confirmed to appear on the album: "Psyko Orgasm", "Shape of the Formless" and "Into The Nothingness Black".

Commented the band: "At this point we are still editing vocals and shortly we'll start with keys and samples. As soon as we are done with those, we will be back in Denmark at Tue's studio to begin the mix.

"The plan was to mix with Andy Sneap, but we ran into some 'technical differences'... TRIGGERS! We do not utilize triggers, and have not been utilizing triggers on the last two albums, therefore it did not make any sense to have Sneap mix the album, so we decided to go for an old friend of ours, who understands the band, and has been there with us from DAY 1."

MNEMIC's current sessions mark the first time that the band has recorded in America and represent the second production project of FEAR FACTORY guitarist Christian Olde Wolbers for Nuclear Blast (as he recently turned the knobs for THREAT SIGNAL's debut, "Under Reprisal"). The new CD will feature guest appearances by Jeff Walker (CARCASS) and Shane Embury (NAPALM DEATH). An early 2007 release via Nuclear Blast Records is expected.

Mnemic New Track To Feature Napalm Death Singer

Danish modern metallers MNEMIC have announced that their upcoming third album will feature guest appearances by Jeff Walker (CARCASS) and Shane Embury (NAPALM DEATH).

Commented guitarist Mircea Gabriel Eftemie: "Last weekend, we hooked up with two fine gentelmen, Jeff and Shane from U.K. grind masters CARCASS and NAPALM DEATH. We grew up on the 'Symphonies', 'Necroticism' and 'Harmony Corruption' records, and it's nothing short of an honour to have such legendary musicians on our new album. Jeff did an amazing job singing along with Guillaume [ex-SCARVE and current MNEMIC singer Guillaume Bideau] and Shane doing back-ups. The song turned out really brutal and we simply can't wait to hear the final mix!"

Brutal Assault Festival Lineup Nearly Complete

The 11th edition of the Brutal Assault festival is scheduled for August 10th - 12th in Svojsice U Prelouce (100 km east of Prague), Czech Republic.

Organizers have issued the following update:

This year’s event promises more impressive expansion and confirms that the organizers don’t intend to stagnate. On the contrary, from year to year, the festival’s program is more and more various and promises more and more foreign metal crowd-pullers for the fans of promiscuous extreme genres. Thanks to the participation of many first-rate metal bands, this event aspires to become a major metal festival in central Europe.

It’s difficult to say which band can be branded as the headliner because this year’s lineup offers up several giants of the metal genre.

Great attraction, especially for fans of atmospheric or symphonic black metal are Norwegians black metal gurus DIMMU BORGIR. In their case we can look for a frosty and dark concert experience.

The next exclusive guest comes from the USA. FEAR FACTORY, who were well known as a representatives of dehumanized cyber metal, but nowadays they come with a new actual face of the year 2006. More...

Things are sounding great and we are just getting started!"

The current sessions mark the first time that MNEMIC have recorded in America and represent the second production project of Olde Wolbers for Nuclear Blast, as he recently turned the knobs for THREAT SIGNAL's debut "Under Reprisal" (due out August 22 in North America). Mnemic Taps Scarve Frontman As Replacement

Danish modern metallers MNEMIC have tapped SCARVE singer Guillaume Bideau as the replacement for Tony Jelencovich (ex-TRANSPORT LEAGUE, B-THONG). As a result, Bideau has left SCARVE in the middle of the recording sessions for the band's follow-up to 2004's "Irradiant", which was previously expected this fall via Listenable Records.

Bideau joined SCARVE in November 1998 and performed on all three of the band's albums: "Transluscence" (2000), "Luminiferous" (2002) and "Irradiant" (2004). A replacement for Bideau has yet to be announced. You can download a full-length MP3 of the song "Mirthless Perspectives", taken from "Irradiant" here.

As previously reported, MNEMIC recently employed the writing talents of guitarist/producer Roy Z. for one song that will surface on MNEMIC's upcoming album, due out in early 2007. The talented and heralded guitarist and songwriter for TRIBE OF GYPSIES, as well as producer of such recent metal classics as BRUCE DICKINSON's "Chemical Wedding", HALFORD's "Resurrection" and JUDAS PRIEST's "Angel of Retribution", Z. collaborated on guitar recently with MNEMIC as the band prepare to start recording their untitled third album for Nuclear Blast Records.

Commented the band: "The track has turned out really good. You can hear the heavy mixture of Roy's along with the MNEMIC style.

"We've been a fan of Roy's work since first hearing his production on the DICKINSON and HALFORD albums, he always comes out when we are playing in L.A. and is a good friend of the band. We've actually never collaborated with other musicians before when it came to composing songs, so we thought we could combine some of his heavy grove with some of our polyrhythmics and make a song."
