Gama Bomb Check In From The Studio

Irish thrashers GAMA BOMB have posted this latest studio report on their MySpace page:

"DISPATCHES FROM THE FRONT PT. 3:

It seems like the GAMA BOMB boys have done nothing but inhale each others' farts in the car for an eternity, but we have managed to make it all the way home from deepest, darkest Suffolk at last. Thursday saw a late night of churning out killer screams, backing vocals and bass that cleared the way for two days' hardcore fret-spanking by the mighty Domo, who even demanded an extra day's time to perfect his shredology. We salute him. And ourselves.

Now that we're back in our respective dens of iniquity, it's hard to believe we've spent almost a month in the lab, stitching together such a savage monster of an album. Scurvy, alcoholic poisoning and malnutrition may have taken their toll, but by Friday morning we were still standing, bleary eyed and disbelieving as we heard the best thrash for 20 years come screaming back at us from Scott Atkins' bass woofer.

As with all the best things in life (ketchup, scabs, tortoise racing) good things will come to those who wait: there'll be no preview for a while and certainly no sly CD-Rs of this bad boy, but when 'Citizen Brain' drops we'll be ready. We've discussed how the album might be received by writers, reviewers, tastemakers and shakers a million times, but the end sum of all this work is that we don't give a shit. As long as there are thrashers out there tossing away half of their collection and replacing it with a solitary disc of 'Citizen Brain', we'll be happy. That isn't too much to ask, is it?

Here's how 'Citizen Brain' finally worked out in figures:

Tracks: 15
References to brains: TBC
Instances of profanity on album: Over 30
Times Rats: Night Of Terror watched: 12
GBP spent on alcohol: £500
Blocks of cheese: 10

We have been mostly eating: Crisps, Toast, Cheese, Bacon, Eggs, Beef, Noodles, Soap, Whatever's Handy.

Ailments / injuries accrued by bad diet / alcohol abuse / stupidity during recording: Unexplained facial wounds, allergic reactions to permanent marker 'comedy' glasses, puncture wounds to soles of feet, acne, halitosis, skits, skats, gripe, loss of sense of direction, e.coli, upsetness, brain death

GAMA BOMB - Faster Is Gooder." More...

Gama Bomb Issue Studio Update

The band checks in once again with another update straight from Grindstone Studios about the recording of their EARACHE debut, CITIZEN BRAIN (produced by Scott Atkins):

"If making amazing albums is a crime, we're going to be sent down for life when CITIZEN BRAIN gets released (slated for mid-May, fact fans). Drums are complete, as evidenced by Paul spending his days playing Hitman with a beer, and we're coming to the end of guitar tracking. Luke and Domo have been putting in long days, scrutinizing every riff and lick with Scott, and the results sound amazing. Philly is now getting into the thick of the vocal takes, too, and is packing in some seriously balls-to-the-wall screaming in late-night sessions. Unfortunately, he hasn't been spotted wearing sunglasses while doing takes like Glen Benton. A recent memo from EARACHE advised that 'more falsettos = better', and we're certainly going to deliver on that."

"Last week saw Tom Luchtenstein from MUTANT and Jamie from Resilience Records swing by the studio to deliver some hilariously brilliant backing vocals on a few tunes, only to callously leave us again like the Milk Tray man in the night. We got over it. We also got the first pencil roughs for CITIZEN BRAIN's album cover back from our man in New York, the brilliant Jeff Zornow. It looks amazing. If you see one picture of robot arms coming out of mouths this year, make this it." More...

Gama Bomb Issue Studio Update

Gama Bomb issue the following studio update:

"How do, thrash farmers,"

"The G-Max lads are now one week into the recording of our Earache debut Citizen Brain at Grindstone Studios in deepest, darkest Suffolk with Scott "Cliffhanger 2" Atkins, and what a week it's been. Three days of tracking drums saw Paul nail every song down and left him literally letting off some steam (a la Commando's Captain Bennett) as he sweated off the pounds in the live room. We're currently editing the resulting tracks and preparing to lay down rhythm guitars. Evil ones." More...

Gama Bomb Prepare To Record Debut Album

Earache Records reports:

Recent Earache singings GAMA BOMB are preparing to enter the studio to record their debut full length Citizen Brain, with producer Scott Atkins at the helm.

The band recently made performed to a packed house at the Earache Christmas party in London on December 12th, airing new material from the forthcoming record.

Commenting on the upcoming, vocalist Philly states: "When we're not nursing hangovers, we're mega-excited to get to work on Citizen Brain. We've been bashing the songs into shape for months, and they're now ready to really blow some heads up! We're pretty confident that we're about to make a record that's going to win converts. It's going to change people's minds, make them throw out the dross they've been tolerating for the last 15 years and really start thrashing out like big boys again. We'll be sure to pack our thermals, a few cases of special brew and an industrial-sized drum of beans for this one."

Among the tracks set for inclusion are 'Space Invaders', 'Sentenced to Thrash', 'Hammer Slammer' and 'Zombi Brew', the latter also featured on the upcoming Thrashing Like A Maniac compilation due on January 21st, alongside a host of other emerging new thrash acts like EVILE, MUNICIPAL WASTE, DEKAPITATOR and WARBRINGER.

"The experience of playing with Machine Head is going to be pretty hard to beat. Since it was a sold out show in one of our personal favourite venues and on our own home turf, it was a really exciting night. The gig was a real taste of what it?s like to totally storm in a high-end venue and we can't wait to do it again!"

He has also revealed how Rob Flynn made a special effort to meet up with them backstage:

"Rob Flynn actually came knocking on our dressing room door and we were all shocked by how genuine and friendly he was. He hung out for a bit and talked shite with us and had a laugh; he's a cool dude". More...
