Bloodclot Posts "Up In Arms"

Bloodclot - featuring hardcore pioneers John Joseph (Cro-Mags), Joey Castillo (ex-Queens of the Stone Age), Nick Oliveri (ex-Queens of the Stone Age), Todd Youth (Danzig) - has launched a first single. Check out the title track from upcoming album, "Up In Arms," via the lyric video below.

John Joseph (vocals) comments: "'Up in Arms' is a call to arms for the people of America and across the globe who are sick of the lies, death and destruction of innocent people being caused by the military industrial complex who run governments and propagate unjust wars in order to fill the bank accounts of corrupt businessmen."

Todd Youth (guitars) adds: "If you take a look at what is going on right now in the world, corrupt politicians, war, famine, destruction of the planet by the animal agriculture industry - things have got to change before it's too late. Musically I wanted to write something that gave me the feeling I had the first time that I heard Discharge, Motorhead or the Bad Brains - a relentless wall of sound that makes you think!!"

Bloodclot Signs With Metal Blade

Bloodclot (featuring current and former members of the Cro-Mags, Queens of the Stone Age, Danzig) just signed a worldwide deal with Metal Blade Records.

While being the leader of one of the most influential hardcore bands of all time - the Cro-Mags - John Joseph is also an author, an outspoken advocate of plant-based nutrition, and a competitive Ironman tri-athlete.

Todd Youth - who played in Agnostic Front at the age of 12 - has played guitar with a myriad of artists, including Danzig, Glen Campbell, Motorhead, Ace Frehley, and many more. Additionally, Nick Oliveri has played bass in Queens of the Stone Age, alongside one of the most sought-after drummers in the scene, Joey Castillo - who has also sat behind the kit for Danzig and Eagles Of Death Metal.

These four renowned musicians came together when Cro-Mags guitarist AJ Novello was unable to play a show, and John Joseph called Todd Youth to fill-in for him. The two rekindled their friendship and enjoyed playing together so much that a decision was made to re-form Bloodclot (whose origins date back to a 1981 Bad Brains tour). Todd began the songwriting process, and soon after, Joey Castillo and Nick Oliveri were recruited to join the band. More...

Bloodclot! Seeks Record Label

New York hardcore all-stars, Bloodclot! have hit the streets running. The band boasts members of The Cro-Mags, Biohazard, Pro-Pain and Merauder.

Vocalist John Joseph (Cro-Mags) describes the band's sound best. "I don't want to lock it into any categories. There are hardcore and metal qualities, punk rock qualities, even some fusion in certain parts. It's just heavy music, with a heavy message."

The band is currently seeking a record deal with their self-produced debut, "Burn Babylon Burn." Setting a new standard in hardcore, Bloodclot! maintains a positive focus, preserving the tenets of unity central to the classic ethos. And true to the classic punk-rock DIY vibe, they also wrote and recorded everything together in drummer Danny Schuler's (Biohazard) studio, with no outside influence, financially or otherwise.

"We set out to create a piece of music that would last forever, and reflect the turbulent times we're living in," explains Schuler. "The only way to do that was to believe in each other and do it completely by ourselves. We lived every second of this record, we trusted our instincts, and worked our asses off to get it done. We made this record with absolutely no regard for what is popular right now. We listened to ourselves, dug deep, and created the record we wanted to hear."

Even the band's name itself possesses an important meaning. "In Jamaican, the word 'bloodclot' is a curse that describes everything being fucked up. It's a 'bloodclot' situation, what's happening on the planet, who's running things through deception and lies, and we need to fix it," continues Joseph.

If anyone can make a change through music, it's these five individuals with over 100 years combined experience in hardcore. In the end, Bloodclot! will make an impact. John exclaims, "We live this, every single day, that's why it comes off authentic, because it 'IS' real."

You can hear some music samples on the band's MySpace page.

Bloodclot! is:

John Joseph (Cro-Mags) – vocals
Scott Roberts (Biohazard) – guitar
Eric Klinger (Pro-Pain) – guitar
Rick Lopez (Merauder) – bass
Danny Schuler (Biohazard) – drums
