Overdrive To Release "The Angelmaker's Daughter"

On March 25th, Swedish heavy metal band Overdrive will release the listening companion to the new CD "Angelmaker" (released on February 21, 2011 through Lion Music). The vinyl only release is entitled "The Angelmaker's Daughter," and it is limited to 300 hand-numbered copies in three different colors. The LP contains six previously unreleased tracks, all recorded for the latest CD in 2010, plus three tracks from the CD.

"These are the tracks that didn't make it on the CD 'Angelmaker.' Not because they were bad, but for various other reasons such as we didn't want two long epic songs on the CD, a couple of songs were a bit too similar in style, one was a bit too different in style etc. However the combination of these songs, plus three tracks carefully selected from the CD to fit the formula, has made this an album we feel very proud of," says guitarist Janne Stark.

The release of "The Angelmaker's Daughter" will be celebrated at Club Stairway To Heaven in Malmö, Sweden, on March 25, where the band will perform live, supported by hard rockers Carnival Sun.

The track listing is as follows:

Brand New Sinner (Stark) *
It's Not As Easy As It Seems (Instrumental) (Jacobsson) *
Short Moments (Jacobsson) *
Call The Priest (Eriksson/Stark) *
Show Your Love (Jacobsson) *
Run Out (Jacobsson) *
Angelmaker (Stark)
To Grow (Karlsson)
In Gut We Trust (Stark)

*Exclusive vinyl tracks.

Overdrive Issues Update On New Album

Sweden's Overdrive has issued the following update about the band's upcoming album:

"We have just finished recording 18 tracks for the forthcoming album with the working title 'Angelmaker.' This time we recorded 18 tracks to have a lot to choose from. The problem is, they all became way better than even we expected, making it really hard to select which ones will go on the album, says guitarist Janne Stark.

"The album was mixed by Pelle Saether (Grand Design, Steel Attack, Demonical etc) at Studio Underground. The band has just started shopping the recording for a new deal and interest has already been shown.

"Some of the song-titles are: ‘Angelmaker’, ‘Cold Blood Chaser’, ‘On With The Action’, ‘Under The Influence’, ‘Call The Priest’, ‘Thriller’, ‘To Grow’, ‘Run Out’, ‘The Wavebreaker’, ‘Signs All Over’ and ‘Mother Earth’. The band also does a cover of ‘I Know There's Something Going On’, witten by Russ Ballard and recorded by former ABBA singer Frida back in 1982. More...

Overdrive Posts New Album Update

Swedish heavy metal veterans Overdrive has posted a message online from the recording studio, where they are currently hard at work on their next album. The message reads as follows:

"We've just finished recording the drums for 19 (!!) new Overdrive tracks! About 12 of them will end up on the new album and some on the vinyl edition. Currently the guitars are being recorded. This will be one metal brick for sure!!"

Guitarist Janne Stark says: "Musically this album is true to the '80s way of heavy metal, bringing in influences from the classic metal era of bands like Accept and Judas Priest with no modern elements whatsoever. Not that we’ve ever been modern. I know all bands say it, but we do sincerely feel this will be our strongest album ever. It feels like all pieces fit and even though we’ve only recorded half the drums I’m really confident this will be a killer album!"

Some song titles from the album include:

"Cold Blood Chaser"
"Call The Priest"
"Wavebreaker"
"Signs All Over"
"Mother Earth"
"Hold On"
"Angelmaker"
"Brand New Sinner"
"It's Not As Easy As It Seems"
