Unearth To Film Pomona, CA Show for DVD
Massachusetts metal heavyweights Unearth have just announced that they will be filming their show at the Glasshouse in Pomona, CA for an upcoming DVD. This tour marks the band's first US tour since their run of dates with Dimmu Borgir back in April/May of 2007. Joining Unearth on tour will be Darkest Hour, August Burns Red, and Suicide Silence. This monstrous tour will hit the road on September 27th for a four-week North American tour with stops in Canada. The dates are in support of the Unearth's latest album, III: In The Eyes Of Fire (recorded with Terry Date, Soundgarden, White Zombie, Pantera, Deftones) which was released August 8th 2006.
Here's what vocalist Trevor Phipps has to say: "We figured it was about time we shot a real DVD and what better place than the intimate Glasshouse? Ever since we first played there in 2002 we have loved the crowds and venue in every repeat visit. We couldn't be more stoked to return and get it on tape this time around. A high energy show and good times will be had by all on October 9th.
The live show will only be part of the DVD as we aim to make it a double disc with behind the scenes footage of us on tour, the band and crew backstage, hanging with the fans, rare studio footage, band, crew and special guest interviews, more live footage and pictures from our travels around the world and all of our videos. The DVD set will be a complete retrospective from our beginnings in the basement practice space in Winthrop, Massachusetts all the way up to present day as well as a look at what is in store for us as we approach a full decade of being Unearth."
If any of you have pictures or video you think will be a worthy addition to the DVD, please send an email to unearthdvd@gmail.com.

Gene Hoglan Sends In Large Update
The Atomic Clock himself updated with a lengthy blog post on his myspace page:
"Howdy folks. Well, where to start? There's just too much stuff going on at the moment to remember, let alone catalogue in any sort of abridged manner, so I'll just dive in chronologically I suppose...
"I'm here in Vancouver, mainly to complete the editing of my forthcoming dvd, "The Atomic Clock". Wow, original title, eh? If I had just concentrated on double-bass on it, I might have called it "Evil is A Foot", but since I do way more than just metal drumming on it, I figured "The Atomic Clock" just fits. And, I am still shooting for a July release, available at first on my websites.
"Let me tell ya, it's coming out great! I'm really psyched! It's gonna clock in at about 2 hours, and hopefully they're gonna be an entertaining 2 hours for all. Upon it's completion, I'll have a more detailed blurb about it. Say, haven't ya heard that one before?
"I'm also up here completing the mix for the MECHANISM album, who will be featured heavily on said "The Atomic Clock" dvd. That is coming out righteous, as well. I'm super-pumped for this one. I'll say this a million times, but this is probably my craziest drum album to date. As of yet, we have no finished product to share with anyone, and I'm pretty glad about that fact. Hopefully it'll drop like a bomb. Or at least a well-placed M-80. More...
Unearth Offers Update, Drummer Situation
The latest update over at Unearth's official website reveals that the band have tapped Seemless drummer Derek Kerswill to handle the drums from them for the next month and a half. You can check that out over at www.unearth.tv. Unearth have been without a permanent drummer since parting ways with Mike Justian last month.
Gene Hoglan of Strapping Young Lad previously filled in for the band to finish out their tour with Dimmu Borgir, Devildriver and Kataklysm.
Mindsnare Join Unearth, Walls of Jericho Tour
Mindsnare have been added to the upcoming Unearth Australian Tour. Having toured Australia with Killswitch Engage and Lamb Of God in 2006, Unearth return this July for their first headline tour, also joining the bill is Detroit’s Walls of Jericho. Mindsnare will also be playing at Come Together in Sydney on June 9 as well as at Hardcore 2007 on July 13 and 14.
In related news, Resist Records is now taking pre orders for the limited edition coloured copies of Mindsnare's "Disturb The Hive" LP. The LP version also contains an exclusive bonus track of Nuclear Assault's “Hang The Pope”. You can check out tracks from the album on Mindsnare’s MySpace page. “Disturb the Hive” CD/LP will be in stores June 30 (presumably an Australian release date; worldwide dates unknown at this time).
Report
Dimmu Borgir Brings Invaluable Darkness To MD
Continuing my quest to explore the Baltimore metal scene, as I've previously gravitated toward DC and Northern Virginia exclusively, I made my first trip to Sonar to catch the Dimmu Borgir, Unearth, Devildriver and Kataklysm on the "Invaluable Darkness Tour" Sunday, April 29, 2007 - making this report long overdue. I'm not sure I would have ventured out to see Dimmu Borgir and Kataklysm alone even though I like them, but I enjoy Unearth's live show immensely and had yet to see Devildriver, whose last album I enjoyed a lot. I was still very interested in see Dimmu Borgir live, both because I have enjoyed their recent efforts and I had yet to catch a black metal band live in an intimate environment (Ozzfest appearances not withstanding). Unearth Part Ways With Drummer
Unearth issue the following update:
"Last night marked the end of the line for Mike Justian with Unearth. There are many reasons why we decided it was time to move on without him, but we are not in the business of airing dirty laundry. We will say that we grew apart as individuals and as musicians and the split will be best for both the band and Mike."
"In true Unearth fashion, we will continue on without skipping a beat. We are pleased and honored to say that Gene Hoglan of Strapping Young Lad is filling in for the rest of our tour with Dimmu Borgir, Devil Driver and Kataklysm. He will take the stage for the first time with us tonight in Vancouver, BC. Gene is an unreal musician and has learned a set in extremely short notice. We can not thank him enough for lending his skills to our band for this tour." More...
