SOIA And Napalm Death Demonstrate Persistence

In an age where Summer festivals dominate, it's nice to have something to look forward to in the Winter as well. While many fans of hardcore will find their most renowned names playing big metal festivals, the Persistence Tour has, since 2005, offered European fans of the genre a great night out in the form of a massive, travelling matinee. This year saw New York hardcore legends Sick Of It All headline the trek once again, having previously taken part in the event four times, being joined by crossover thrash favourites Municipal Waste, Detroit metalcore outfit Walls Of Jericho and for one night only, grindcore godfathers, Napalm Death.

Having been unable to catch the opening two bands (Siberian Meat Grinder and Take Offence,) due to interviews with Napalm Death and Municipal Waste (watch this space,) my first live act for the day was Oi! outfit Booze & Glory. What makes this band very very special is what they stand for. Booze & Glory were formed by two Polish immigrants and over the years their ranks have included people from other countries such as Greece and Sweden, while the English members are themselves descended from immigrants. This background, combined with their love of traditional skinhead and British culture is one of the best slaps to the face of racism and xenophobia, showing the world that we can embrace each other while remaining true to our heritage and cultures. As for the music itself, it was a lot of fun. Booze & Glory offer a good time, in a similar vein to Dropkick Murphys, plenty of sing along anthems and a fierce stage presence. Frankly their studio output doesn't do them justice and I urge all fans of punk, hardcore, Oi! and the skinhead subculture to seek out a live show soon. Superb! More...

Walls Of Jericho Releases New Video

Eight years after "The American Dream," Walls Of Jericho found new allies in Napalm Records and released latest record "No One Can Save You From Yourself" in 2016.

The band centered around power fronter Candace is famous for maddening riffing, downbeats and huge breakdowns. Just in time for the European EMP Persistence tour together with Suicidal Tendencies and Agnostic Front, the band today releases a new music video for the track "Forever Militant."

Walls Of Jericho commented: "We shot this over the summer of 2016 at With Full Force Festival as a headliner of the main stage. The band really wanted to show the world what our live shows are live no matter what stage we play big or small. Getting ready to support Suicidal Tendencies in 2017 brings us back to Europe in a large club setting and we can't be more excited to see everyone up close and more personal. 'Forever Militant' is a stand out track on our new album so be ready to see us play this song every night on The Persistence Tour." More...

Texas Revolution Fest Hosts Modern Metal Bill

October 22, 2016-Texas Revolution Festival held in Austin is a festival run by promoters Come And Take It Productions.

I’ve covered a lot of Come And Take It shows for Metalunderground.com, including the spring version of the festival, Texas Independence Fest in 2015. That festival featured such bands as Between The Buried And Me, Vital Remains, White Chapel, COC, Death Angel and Cavalera Conspiracy. Tonight billed such artists as Hatebreed, Devildriver, Soilwork and Crowbar.

The Independence Festival was a three-day outing, while Texas Revolution was only one day. Both festivals were held at the same venue—Empire Control Room & Garage. The Control Room stage was an smaller, inside stage that held many of the lesser-known and local acts. Ringworm headlined that stage. The Garage is an outside stage that housed the headliners. Walls Of Jericho Wants You To Be Relentless

As Detroit, Michigan's Walls Of Jericho prepares to enter the studio to record a Napalm Records debut and first album in over seven years, the band is asking for fans to help be a part of the process.

Walls of Jericho wants you to record yourself saying the phrase "I Am Relentless." The band will then take these clips and make them part of an intro for a song on the new album. Please email the audio clips to woj.iamrelentless[at]gmail.com.

This new song is attached to the Relentless Foundation, which has a mission to build relationships and change lives by uniting strong men and women with even stronger children. The Relentless Detroit Foundation was created to raise money, awareness and support for local MI families with children diagnosed with life threatening illnesses.

The foundation raises the bulk of the money donated by hosting a yearly powerlifting meet. Power lifters from the United States and Canada come together for this event after spending months training and raising funds to support the families involved.
