Kamelot Unveils New Album Cover Artwork

KAMELOT has unveiled the cover artwork for their 9th studio album, "Poetry For The Poisoned."

The artwork was created by Seth Siro Anton. He sums up his experience in working on "Poetry For The Poisoned," “It was a great challenge for me as an artist to visualize the music of this new KAMELOT masterpiece. Really difficult, as I had to combine a Fine Art aesthetic and technique blended with a really dark, melancholic, poisoned atmosphere. I am really satisfied with the final result; it’s definitely the darkest artwork for KAMELOT so far…. A sweet poison for the eyes that successfully addresses their new poetry of music.”

Frontman Roy Khan assures that Poetry For The Poisoned will both please the band’s existing following and expose the universe of KAMELOT to a whole range of new fans. “Poetry For The Poisoned is our longest and toughest production so far, but when I hear the result I know it was well worth the struggle,” he says. Leaves' Eyes Issues Recording Update

Leaves' Eyes has started recording the guitar parts for an upcoming album at the Mastersound Studio. Leaves' Eyes guitarist Tosso commented on the recording process:

"It feels great to be back in our own studio and record the guitar tracks for the new Leaves' Eyes album. Seven songs are already finished guitar-wise. They all feature the Leaves Eyes guitar trademarks like the downtuned guitars, the romantic melodies, clean and acoustic guitars as well as some really cool surprises. I think you can expect nothing less than a killer album. I cant wait to hear the final result."

Leaves' Eyes Issues Festival Recap

Male vocalist Alexander Krull of Leaves' Eyes has checked in with the following update about the band's recent live shows:

"First of all, the concert at Wave Gotik Treffen was a real blast! In 2004 we had our first Leaves' Eyes show ever at WGT! Now we came back and we were playing again in front of thousands of people which were celebrating with us! Awesome! It was very nice to meet our longtime friends of Creamatory at WGT, too, and having a little after show party with them.

"The last two shows at Metalfest in Pilsen and Budapest have been great, too. In Pilsen a storm with rain and hail started while we played the new song 'At heaven's end' and it lasted until the end of our show. But the audience just kept banging and clapping their hands, it couldn't fit better to our musical style and lyrics! The fans in Budapest rocked from the first second until the end of the show - yeah! A big thank you to the fans for making these shows unforgettable!"

Leaves' Eyes has checked in with the following announcement about canceling their appearance at the Swiss Metalfest:

"Dear Leaves' Eyes fans, the following sad statement just came in from our booking agent Thomas Caser / Napalm Events: 'Unfortunately we were informed by the organization of Metalfest Switzerland that due to financial difficulties and a mistake in the planning of the amount of acts for the festival, the promoter had to cancel Leaves’ Eyes’ appearance. This is definitely not the band’s fault, the promoter is very sorry and we tried everything possible to solve this – without success.' Leaves' Eyes Issues Tour Recap

Leaves' Eyes recently spent a few weeks on the road touring Europe alongside Kamelot. The band has now checked in with the following tour recap:

"After several weeks of touring through Europe together with Kamelot and traveling almost 20.000 kilometers by bus we are back at home enjoying the spring weather. The last highlight of this tour was the amazing sold out show in Oslo/Norway at Sentrum Scene. Yes, Leaves' Eyes back in Norway! Friends and people from Liv's family joined the show, which made the evening a real home gig for our Norwegian singer. Besides that, the Kamelot and Leaves' Eyes crew teamed up and organized a kind of Spinal Tap surprise for our last gig of this tour. During the performance of 'Elegy' a little viking ship came down from the roof of the venue to stop right above Rolands drum kit. Of course everybody onstage felt reminded of the tiny little stone henge building in the Spinal Tap movie.

"Thanx to Kamelot's and our crew for making us laugh like hell. Soon after the show we started the 30 hours journey back home. Due to the Iceland volcano eruption all ferries were packed to the maximum and the traffic in general was massive. Thank god for being in a tour bus including refrigerators, coffee machines, DVD players and Playstations. This tour was very successful for all the bands. It was great to play a lot of shows in many European metropoles, making and meeting new friends and fans. See you all in the European summer festival season and we will come back to Northamerica with Kamelot as well"

Leaves' Eyes Issues New Road Report

Leaves' Eyes has checked in with the following road report:

"We are on our way from Helsinki to Oslo/Norway where we will play the last show of this tour. The scenery is quite impressive as we are actually plowing through the Nordic ice! Our last report ended in Lissabon 10 days ago where we had a great show and met a lot of cool fans. After that we had to endure extreme boredom on a 36 hour drive to Dortmund. The score so far on the trip to Dortmund:

- 5 full length movies
- two seasons of Simpsons
- countless piles of awful gas station food
- about 3000 liters of beer and other assorted alcoholic beverages
- 3 tour bus drivers fully absorbed with driving
- a shitload of bad jokes

"Germany: After enjoying the hot weather in Portugal, Dortmund welcomed us with the rainy and cold climate of good old Germany, but also with the long awaited ‘Special Fan edition of Njord’. One of the new songs, 'At Heavens End,' already proved to be a killer live song. After the show we had a really great spontaneous party with Kamelot and Adagio in and in front of our tour busses til the morning light. More...

Icarus Witch Welcomes New Vocalist

Pittsburgh melodic metal band ICARUS WITCH has announced a change in their lead vocalist. In a statement from the band's official site they explained the situation:

"We are excited to announce yet another massive shift in our ranks as we welcome new vocalist Christopher Shaner to the ICARUS WITCH circle and part ways amicably with original vocalist, Matthew Bizilia. Matthew's contributions to the band have been immeasurable over the past six years. While this was a serious decision for both parties, professional differences of opinion led to the change. Bizilia is a phenomenal talent who will always be a part of the Witch family as we wish him much success on his future ventures."

Incoming vocalist and Erie, Pennsylvania native Shaner is a long time friend and collaborator of guitarist Quinn Lukas. Before Quinn moved to Pittsburgh to join ICARUS WITCH in 2006, he had worked on various musical projects with the singer. Much like the recent acquisition of second guitarist Ed Skero, the choice to add Christopher to the band was based on a combination of what he brings to the lineup personally, musically and professionally. His powerful vocal range, sense of harmony and intense work ethic are a perfect fit for the next phase of this band. Writing for the follow-up to Draw Down The Moon has already commenced with the new recruits and it promises to be the band's most diverse, melodic and epic release ever. More...

Leaves' Eyes Issues New Tour Report

Guitarist Sander van der Meer of Leaves' Eyes has checked in from the road with the following tour report:

"Hello all! Now we found a working internet connection again, a new sign of life from the road. The last days were filled with adventure and challenge….. Switzerland/France: We had an awesome show at the Z7 venue in Pratteln/Switzerland. Super nice venue which is always a pleasure to play. Unfortunately we had a stroke of bad luck later that night. It became clear that our tourbus had multiple problems, which made it unsafe to drive any further and left us with a huge problem: ' how to get to Montpellier France the next day…..'

"Without a quick solution, there was a real danger of having to cancel our appearance there. For us, canceling the show was not an option. Luckily the awesome Z7 crew helped us out by arranging a sprinter bus with two of their security officers driving us to Montpelier! Big thanks go out to Norbert and all at Z7, what you did for us was just amazing! After an approximately eight hour drive we arrived at the venue, and in 'speedstaging style' we set and entered the stage within 15 minutes! Thanks to our awesome crew we made it! Right after the show we jumped back into the car and met up with our new tour bus. More...

Leaves' Eyes Checks In From The Road

Leaves' Eyes guitarist Sander van der Meer has checked in from the road with the following tour report:

"Hello everyone! So here we are in Paris at the venue Elysee Montmarte, which is an absolutely stunning venue. Since the tour started, all the venues we played have been sold out, and the responses from the crowds have been awesome. The last two days off we spent at the camping site here in Paris having a blast with sightseeing and partying at the camping site.

"The battery-charged Mini-Marshall stack even allowed us to do an intensive jam session 'till we almost got kicked off the campingsite! Sorry for that. Its only Rock'n Roll, but we liked it. Tonite we are playing the 5th show of the tour and we are about to leave for more sightseeing @ Montmartre! Greetings to all of you, hope to see you at the shows!"

Leaves' Eyes Comments On European Tour

Leaves' Eyes has issued the following update about their European tour:

"Yesterday the kick off show of the European tour of Leaves' Eyes together with Kamelot and Adagio took place in Charleroi, Belgium. This was also the live debut of the new Leaves' Eyes drummer Roland Navratil. Roland joined Leaves' Eyes and also Atrocity after the bands decided to continue without former drummer Seven Antonopoulos. Both bands wish Seven all the best for the future, and welcomes the Austrian drummer Roland Navratil, who played in the past with bands like Edenbridge, Sirenity and Dignity!"

Roland Navratil also commented: “First of all I like the diversity of both bands, Atrocity and Leaves' Eyes. I listen to a lot of different music and was blown away by the 'Werk 80' CD of Atrocity. So called 'Female fronted' metal bands where always a favorite kind of music of myself, too. That’s why I know a lot about Liv and her music and the band Leaves' Eyes. I love to play songs like 'Elegy,' 'Emerald Island' or the new smasher “At Heaven’s End”! The first time I met Alex was years ago when Atrocity played in Vienna. I met them and Liv again back in 2005 when I was playing in Germany. As I was on the 'Beauty and the Beast.' Tour as a session drummer for Sirenia, it was very cool to tour with both bands, Atrocity and Leaves' Eyes. I was excited as they asked me, if I would like to play with them because we had a lot of fun on tour last fall. The rehearsals went great and now I am looking forward to share the stages together! Keep on rockin´! See you on tour!"

Liv Kristine To Release New Solo Album

Leave's Eyes vocalist Liv Kristine has issued the following update about releasing a new solo album:

"Dear Fans & Friends, my up-coming album 'Skintight' is on its way to you! In January, the production at Mastersound Studio was completed and the artwork finished by Stefan Heilemann. It has been a fantastic experience to evolve during the recording process. Tori Amos gave me a lot of inspiration in the way she records her songs. My main aim is to release an album which goes directly under your skin, and into your hearts. Being authentic, but perhaps not flawless, is the philosophy I follow artistically. It is not necessary to tune and shape a singing voice when it comes from the heart, from deep within. This is why I chose the title 'Skintight.'

"Most recordings were done 'in one go,' i.e. record a complete song without breaks. Moreover, we've kept and paid attention to the natural processes which take place during singing, like breathing, movements of the lips, emotional expression and strength etc. All this makes the album authentic, real, and direct. The music is played with only a few, however, original instruments. A very down to earth album, and absolutely 'real,' like as if you were sitting next to me and I would sing a song to you. All songs have been written by Torsten Bauer, and myself. Alexander Krull produced the album. My lyrics tell about my childhood ('One of Them,' 'Wonders'), and my observations of the fast, cold, superficial and grey society of the masses ('The Rarest Flower', 'Boy at the Window'). 'Skintight' is dedicated to the children of this world - our future. Children embodies real, true and endless love; love towards nature, and love between human beings. This is an album which will open your hearts."
