"Additionally, one DVD contains an extensively produced documentary about our band which shows everything that we have done and what happened to us with the band during the last five years. The viewers can watch all this within two hours of entertainment and excitement. When I watched the final version for the first time, with all the tour episodes from North America and South America, Europe, Mexico and Australia, I got goosebumps several times. With this movie, the viewer can get a very close experience with our band - he will be taken with us on our world tour,” Bauer added. More...
Leaves' Eyes has issued the following tour recap and year end update:
Dear Friends and Fans,
We just finished our European tour with Arch Enemy, Mercenary and Sister Sin, which we played with our new line-up for the first time. We’re really feeling like a unity, having a great time on the road although we had to go through some technical problems here an there. It was very nice to meet our fans and friends again!
One of the finest moments on this tour was playing with Doro, celebrating her 25th anniversary together with 8.000 fans and other bands and musicians. We also played at the 25th anniversary of Germany’s first Metal temple, the Rockfabrik Ludwigsburg, situated in our hometown. This was a very special night for everybody. More...
Arch Enemy vocalist, Angela Gossow, has posted this message:
"We had a blast, thanx to our wonderful German friends & fans and touring with a killer line-up, really cool people and the best crew in the whole world! Rene from Mercenary actually took the time to write a review of the tour for my forum on www.AngelaGossow.Com - go and check it out!
"They also got an in depth tour report on the Mercenary Myspace Page, plus their kick-butt version of BURNING ANGEL in their player. Listen and bang your head!
"Sister Sin are young, tight and simply awesome and their take on hardrocking metal always put a smile on my face and made me tap my feet. Watch out for these guys and gal - they will get to you! And thanx for getting our gear from and back to Sweden again! We love you!!!
"Leaves Eyes - I got to meet Alex and Liv, both very sweet people. Not sure if they felt 'at home' as they were def the odd band out and my death metal soul doesnt really resonate with their quiet tunes. I hope they enjoyed it nevertheless- I loved the diversity of this tour line-up and the different dynamics each band brought to the table.
"Special thanx go out to Dirk Lehberger for making sense of the daily chaos, Clem Bennett for the best sound ever, Eddie for multitasking as drum tech and monitor tech (and being brilliant and never out of breath despite the heavy work load), Merch Chris for selling out our last stock and Swiss Samael Chris for a light show that left people in awe and hopefully cross eyed for the rest of the night! You all were wonderful and made IT happen. We would be lost without you and could hardly tie our shoe laces on our own I am afraid..
"And a big THANK YOU to DORO for inviting us to her 25 year anniversary show! We had a short, but raging set and I hope she enjoyed her massive bash.. I think the stress backstage would have killed me..
"It was also fun to meet my old pal Pete (from Asmodina and Mistress) again who played in Pratteln and Bad Arolsen with his new band All We Hate!
"I hope you all have relaxing holidays and a great 2009!!!"
The new member of LEAVES' EYES and ATROCITY is Los Angeles based drummer Seven Antonopolous (ex-Opiate For The Masses).
Seven: "I've been a big fan of the bands for a long time. I can't tell you how excited I am to play with such amazing people! I'm currently at Mastersound Studio in Germany tracking the drums for the new LEAVES' EYES record! These songs have a great epic vibe. I feel like I'm really expending as a musician!"
Seven will take part of the 2008 SABIAN "Show No Mercy" tour featuring also Ray Luzier (Korn), Chris Pennie (Coheed & Cambria). The dates are as follows:

Guitarist Michael Amott comments on the release as follows: “People are always asking us about Japan and the fans there… It is well known that Arch Enemy has been the most successful extreme metal band in the Japanese market for 10+ years, so we thought it’d be cool to show the Arch Enemy fans worldwide what it’s like when we tour there, this is your backstage pass to Arch Enemy, Nippon style! A lot of people felt that we raised the bar significantly with the quality of the ‘Live Apocalypse’ DVD – and I agree that was a great DVD, but I believe this monumental experience, that we are calling ‘Tyrants Of The Rising Sun’ filmed totally in high definition, - will leave you floored! With the metal world’s #1 producer Andy Sneap mixing the audio and the brilliant Paul Smith editing and directing the visuals, the results are impressive! And Niklas Sundin of Cabin Fever Media bringing in some of the best artwork I’ve ever seen from him - we have a new DVD that we are very proud to present to our fans!”
Following up the release date of the live-album, Arch Enemy have announced the final line-up for a string of European "December Tyranny" tour dates with Leaves' Eyes, Mercenary and Sister Sin. Dates are as follows:

Arch Enemy’s vocalist, Angela Gossow, comments on the shows as follows: “This is a very diverse and exciting line-up we got together for these shows – A truly special run! Not only is this the first time in our history we tour with other female fronted bands, but we managed to cross over heavy metal, melodic metal, thrash/death metal and gothic metal in one billing. And Mercenary’s power metal version of ‘Burning Angel’ (you can find this on the new Century Media release ‘Covering 20 Years of Extremes) def. got stuck in my ears! Sister Sin is an upcoming, hard rocking act from Sweden… And Leaves Eyes will clearly be the ‘Beauty’ whilst Arch Enemy proudly represents the ‘Beast’! Be there when the revolution begins!”
In other news, Arch Enemy's cover of the Dream Evil classic "The Book Of Heavy Metal" is now posted at www.myspace.com/centurymediaeurope. The track comes off “Covering 20 Years Of Extremes,” Century Media’s 20th-anniversary compilation, which is available in stores now. It contains 32 mostly exclusive recordings where CM artists cover songs from other acts within the label’s repertoire.

Arch Enemy vocalist Angela Gossow comments: "I am so excited to rock hard with the one and only Mrs. Doro Pesch! She is not only my teenage idol ('All We Are' from Warlock was about the only song I liked at school disco!) and basically my neighbour (Cologne – Duesseldorf is right next to each other) – But she is hands down one of the nicest, down-to-earth and most beautiful musicians I have met so far. I can hardly believe its her '25 Years In Rock' anniversary – She is still as youthful as ever! She's got the power for sure! You don't want to miss out on this extraordinary event and maybe seing me and Doro on a stage together! Make sure you get your tickets early!"
Angela Gossow is also featured on Doro Pesch's new single, "Celebrate," including other guest appearances by Liv Kristine (LEAVES' EYES), Veronica Freeman (BENEDICTUM), GIRLSCHOOL, Floor Jansen (AFTER FOREVER) and another one that was recorded with the help of Biff Byford (SAXON).
German gothic metallers, Leaves' Eyes, issue the following explanation for the canceling of their North American tour:
"We are terribly sorry to tell you that our record label (Napalm Records) has decided to cancel our upcoming North American tour. This is due to the fact that the release of our first DVD has been postponed. We really regret this. Moreover, we've tried everything possible to save the tour, however, we now have to face the fact that we cannot change the situation. We wish AMORPHIS, SAMAEL and VIRGIN BLACK all the best for the tour, and we hope to be back in the States and Canada in 2009."
Australia's VIRGIN BLACK, who are are returning to the United States and Canada this fall to tour with with Finland's AMORPHIS and Switzerland's SAMAEL, are also returning to Mexico for some tour dates as well.
About returning to Mexico, singer/keyboardist Rowan London comments, "Following the amazing response from our previous visit and the almost desperate requests for a return, we proudly announce that Mexico will be included in Virgin Black's 2008 forays in the flesh; meaning, we will be appearing live in Mexico in September. This enhances greatly an already highly anticipated tour of the U.S. and Canada alongside Amorphis and Samael. Bless thy bleeding ears."
The band recently released the album 'Requiem - Fortissimo' (on THE END), the second instalment of a trilogy, an album that exhumes the death/doom vibe of early Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride.

Liv Kristine of Leaves' Eyes has signed to Napalm Records to release solo work. She gave the following statement about the deal:
"I am very happy and proud to announce that I just signed a contract for my next few solo albums with Napalm Records. My decision to take this step is easily explainable; I am very satisfied with the cooperation between Napalm Records and Leaves' Eyes so far. I appreciate the work of everybody working at Napalm Records and I have a good feeling about our past and future cooperation. Having both my solo project and Leaves' Eyes on one label makes it a lot easier for label, band, co-musicians and me to coordinate everything, especially when it comes to planning and organising tours, productions, promotion work etc. In the nearest future I will certainly pay a visit to beautiful Eisenerz and show Max a few ideas I've already been working on for my third solo album."
LEAVES' EYES has announced a new show in Holland. Furthermore, the band will headline this year's Wacken Open Air Party Stage with their special "Viking Ship" show, with the whole stage being transferred into a giant Viking ship. Finally, the band also embarks on a full US tour this fall.
Meanwhile, the band is busy to put final touches on the upcoming "En Saga I Belgia" double live DVD, which captures their headlining gig at Metal Female Voices V Festival.

Less than six months after joining Atrocity and Leaves' Eyes, drummer Nick Barker (ex-Testament, Cradle of Filth, etc.) has left the group. Here's the official word:
"Atrocity and Leaves Eyes are sorry to inform you that Nick Barker cannot continue to play with the bands due to a drastic change in his private life. The bands wish Nick all the best in his future life and we hope that he will feel better very soon! Drummer Peter Hornung stepped into the breach for Nick at short notice for the shows at the Gottlieb Daimler Stadium and Rockmania Festival, so that the band was able to play the shows."

Leaves' Eyes have announced they will be performing at the Mandragora’s Fest in Mexico City on March 1st. The band will perform their live debut with Nick Barker (ex-Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir) on drums and Alla Fedynitch (Eyes of Eden) on bass.
The new drummer of ATROCITY and LEAVES' EYES is Nick Barker, who has previously played with CRADLE OF FILTH, DIMMU BORGIR and TESTAMENT. Says ATROCITY/LEAVES' EYES vocalist/producer Alex Krull, "It's with great pleasure that we can announce Nick Barker is joining the ATROCITY and LEAVES' EYES family! We always were great fans of his way of drumming, and we are happy that we will kick some ass in the future together! Nick was our No. 1 choice! When we heard he would join us, we invited him right away!"
Here's a short interview with Nick Barker about his decision to join the two bands:
Q: Nick, how long do you know Alex and the guys of ATROCITY and LEAVES' EYES?
Nick: "I've known ATROCITY for many years, I think the first time we met was on the DEICIDE/ATROCITY tour in 1992 when I was the drum tech for support band CANCER, and since that time we've always ran into each other on the European summer festival circuit during the years that followed. Whenever I would play in the Stuttgart area with any of my previous bands, some of the guys would always be there and show their support."
Q: How did it come about that you joined the two bands now?
Nick: "Alex approached me at the Metal Hammer award ceremony in London last June (2007) and said that he was looking for a drummer that could handle the complexity and savagery of ATROCITY as well as the softer, more groove-laden beauty of LEAVES' EYES, and he thought I could be the right man to do both jobs. I had some prior commitments and obligations to fulfil at that time, but we spoke over the Christmas period and arranged for me to come to Stuttgart and audition; everything was fantastic both musically and from a social and personal aspect."
Q: How do you like the music of both bands? They are quite different from each other.
Nick: "I absolutely love the diversity of both bands. With ATROCITY, you have such brutal songs from the 'Atlantis' album such as 'Reich Of Phenomena', 'Apocaplyse' and 'Clash Of Titans', which I can't wait to play live and sink my teeth into. Then, on the other hand, you have LEAVES' EYES, which for me is something very new and very exciting as a drummer coming from a mainly black/death metal background. Liv has the most beautiful voice in the whole world within this genre, and the music is very moving, beautifully crafted and almost spiritual."
Q: You just jammed the first time with the guys at Mastersound Studio. How was it? What are your impressions?
Nick: "When I first arrived at Mastersound Studios, my first impression was 'WOW!!!' I had no idea of the sheer scale of dedication, time, money and professionalism that had been invested into the studio itself. Over the years, I have been in many first-class recording studios myself, but I have to say, Mastersound is a cut above the rest. The whole band were extremely friendly and there was an overwhelming sense of 'family' among them all, which made me feel very relaxed and at ease almost immediately. We jammed some classic songs by METALLICA, SLAYER and MORBID ANGEL to warm up before concentrating on the more serious matters of LEAVES' EYES and ATROCITY, and like I said earlier, everything was fantastic, both musically and socially."
Q: What are you going to do next with the two bands?
Nick: "Next up is a video shoot with ATROCITY in Berlin next month for the 'Werk 80 II' album, and then in March, LEAVES' EYES will play in Mexico City. April we will be working our asses off writing songs for the new LEAVES' EYES record in the brand new, relocated Mastersound studios. In May, LEAVES' EYES and ATROCITY will tour Asia (China, Taiwan, etc) for the first time ever. Upon our return from the Orient, we will continue to work hard on the new record, which is planned for an autumn 2008 release."
As previously reported, the North American Tour together with KING DIAMOND, KREATOR, LEAVES’ EYES and CELLADOR in spring 2008 has been cancelled due to serious health problems concerning King Diamond.
Leaves’ Eyes mainman Alex Krull (ATROCITY) comments: "Hello everybody, we unfortunately have to say that the North American Tour from Leaves’ Eyes together with King Diamond, Kreator and Cellador had to be cancelled as many of you already know. King Diamond has got a serious problem with his back which makes it impossible for him to go on tour in the next time. We got this news with a heavy heart, all our best wishes for a fast recovery for the King!! Healthiness goes first and we can understand his decision 100%. Of course we would have loved to present a great show for our fans in the USA and Canada. We even wanted to surprise you with new material from the next Leaves’ Eyes album! We hope however seeing all of you very soon.
Leaves’ Eyes are currently working at their next album and the finishing of the first Leaves’ Eyes DVD. Furthermore, new musicians are being sought for the position of drummer and bass player for Leaves’ Eyes and Atrocity.
Says Alex Krull: "We were very pleased with the reactions so far. Many interesting musicians of all different genres and places have applied so far. A big thank you to all of you who already wrote to us. We are checking all applications and we are still looking for more potential candidates. We would like to have people around us that are somehow down-to-earth and reliable but very much committed to music. This is for sure very important for us because of the two different directions of both bands. On the one hand we need people that are able to play all the crazy stuff in Atrocity such as extreme (double-bass) drumming and bass patterns beyond 225 bpm. On the other hand we need people who can play the groovy and filigree mid-tempo-beats for Leaves’ Eyes. Not an easy job and a real challenge for every musician. People who want to apply for the job, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org."
