Al Jourgensen To Remain With Revolting Cocks

Following the release of 2006's star-studded "Cocked and Loaded," the Revolting Cocks (RevCo) will be releasing "Sex-O Olympic-O" on March 3rd, 2009. RevCo founding member Al Jourgensen is clearing up, once and for all, the rumors surrounding the band's future. "Much like Menudo does or the Blue Man Group, I was going to hand the band over to this younger generation of RevCo's, to Sin [Quirin/guitars], Josh [Bradford/vocals] and Clayton [Worbeck/keyboards], kind of franchise it out. I think that these three knuckleheads capture the true essence and spirit of being 'a Revolting Cock,' if you will. But, this album turned out so damned good, I think I'm going to stick around for a while."

"This is the best RevCo album I've ever done," Al continued. "As a matter of fact, I think this is the best album - including Ministry, Pailhead, Lard - anything I've ever done, period. Production-wise, song-wise, I'm really, really happy with this record. It's the first CD I've ever gotten back from the mastering studio that I didn't have anything to bitch about. No complaints. I listened to the whole thing and just went, 'OK, that's a wrap. Let's go'!" More...

Ministry Mainman Discusses His Future Plans

Ministry mainman Al Jourgenson recently spoke with Artisan News about his role with 13th Planet Records, producing new albums, the end of Ministry and much more. A few excerpts from the chat is as follows:

"I mean yeah, it's torturous because look, that's the whole thing I hate about live and that's the whole thing I hate about being in a band because you spend all your time obsessing and focusing on one thing and it takes up two years of your life. Every release there's months of press, a year in the studio, six months or eight months of touring and the next thing you know you're still on Ministry and you have to do another one and it's two years later. God it's so boring."

Jourgensen also talked about settling into his role as producer for bands like Revolting Cocks and Prong, who both are under the umbrella of Al's 13th Planet Records.

"That's why I'm so over this. This is done! I have so many other projects. I can't wait until I start twirling buttons on a Prong record or twirling buttons on a Cocks record. I hate the fact that you made us come here and talk to you. I hate you for this because this is a waste of my time. I'd rather be in the studio working with people I know and love and doing really progressive stuff."

So what did Al hate most about touring? More...

Al Jourgensen Discusses The End Of Ministry

Ministry mainman Al Jourgensen recently sat down for a lengthy video interview with MP3.com. Filmed in Al's hotel room on the eve of the band's final performance in San Francisco, the chat centers on the end of Jourgensen's long-running band, and what, exactly, he plans to fill his time with post-Ministry. Aside from a cameo from Al's dogs, Ozzy and Lemmy, the interview features some typically candid Bush bashing, and plenty of discussion about Jourgensen and company's recently released Cover Up collection, and the forthcoming Revolting Cocks record.

Ministry's final ever world tour - the appropriately-dubbed C U LaTouR - is winding down, propelling Al and his band toward their final gig ever, on May 10th at the House of Blues in Chicago. Along for the ride are Swedish tech metal behemoth Meshuggah and Hemlock.

Opiate For The Masses Signs To Century Media

Opiate For The Masses, the quartet from Los Angeles, have signed a worldwide record deal with Century Media Records.

Opiate For The Masses are also proud to announce the addition of renowned bassist Anna Kjellberg (ex-Drain STH, Hanzel Und Gretyl, Revolting Cocks) to the fold, which immediately adds another great dynamic to their already devastating live show.

They recently completed work on their much anticipated new full-length album, "Manifesto," recorded by two Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum producers: Ulrich Wild (Slipknot, Deftones) and John Travis (Kid Rock, Buckcherry). The new offering is a propulsive mix of sheer hard rock aggression, soaring melodies and electronic experimentation that could be best described as Alice In Chains meets Prodigy. Manifesto is slated for a summer release. You can visit the group's Myspace to check out some older tracks, photos and videos.

Kaufman further comments: "Since its conception, Opiate For The Masses has been a band in a constant state of transformation. Unwilling to change course merely to fit in among the flavors of the week, this band has gained popularity by blazing new trails for others to follow. The completion of our latest and boldest album, Manifesto, signals a new era for the band's experimentation, yet the resulting sound is something more accessible to the masses.

"We are also extremely pleased with the addition of world-renown musicians, Seven Antonopoulos and Anna K, as their great recording and live contributions added so much depth to our arsenal. The group feels that the final puzzle piece has been put into place as it has teamed up with Century Media to release this musically ground-breaking record. This is such a great opportunity for band and label alike. Both parties are comprised of forward-thinking, hard-working and true fans of music."

Opiate For The Masses created a solid buzz and diehard fanbase with their self-produced debut album, "The Spore," backed by a slew of major tours alongside Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, My Chemical Romance and Static-X, among countless others. They were also a featured act on the inaugural Taste of Chaos tour. A track from the upcoming album, "Dead Underground," originally appeared on the Saw III soundtrack and exposed the band to a whole new audience.

Ministry Frontman: 'We're Going Out With Class!'

While some of us don't even know what we'll be doing next week, Al Jourgensen has the next two years of his life all mapped out.

Last week, Ministry's final studio opus, The Last Sucker, the scathing third installment in Jourgensen's trilogy of LPs attacking President Bush's administration, landed in record stores. In March, he'll hit the road for the last time with Ministry, the band he's fronted since he formed it in 1981, for a tour that will last five months. But before that, he has to hit the studio and record Got Co--?, the studio-album swan song from his side project the Revolting Co--s. In October, the Co--s will head out on what will be their goodbye tour, with openers Prong and Mob Research, the latest signing to Jourgensen's label, 13th Planet Records.

"I am systematically going through and putting all of my side projects to bed over the next couple of years, and then, I'll strictly concentrate on production, running the label and doing soundtracks and a lot of other weird stuff," Jourgensen said, adding that there will be future, all-culminating collections from Lard and Pailhead too. "Then I'll do Buck Satan & the 666 Shooters, a country record I've been talking about for 20 years — once you see the Buck Satan album come out, then you know I'm completely done recording."

After that, Jourgensen said he'll finally get a chance to relax.

"I'm an all-or-nothing guy," he explained. "When I'm working, I work, work, work, work, work, and when I'm not, I'm the laziest sloth this planet has ever provided us. In about two or three years, I'll go full guns, but then I'll sit on my porch with a shotgun and my hound dog and chase kids off my lawn. I'll just sit back, in my 'Sopranos' bathrobe and slippers, going out to the mailbox, picking up checks and kicking back."

But why put Ministry on the slab after all these years? Well, Jourgensen doesn't think the Republicans stand a chance in the upcoming elections, and when there's a Democrat in power, "I think we suck," he admitted. But much more than that, he wanted out before he was dragged out.

Nocturne Schedule First Show in Over A Year

Industrial-metal rockers Nocturne have just confirmed their first show in over a year, scheduled for November 11 at the Whisky in Hollywood.

Joining Nocturne’s Lacey Conner (vocalist) and Chris Telkes (guitar) for this exclusive performance is Sin from Revolting Cocks on bass and Adrian from Powerman 5000 on drums. Xeo3 are slotted as the headlining act and the mayhem begins at 10 pm sharp.

After several years of extensive touring, Nocturne took a break last year to pursue other musical projects; now, with vocalist Lacey Conner (ex-Pigface) newly re-located to Los Angeles from Dallas, TX, it seemed fitting to perform the first show of 2006 in her new hometown.

RevCo's Owen Reveals New Project Snow Black

The Revolting Cocks’ Phildo Owen announced today that he will be unveiling his new project Snow Black in Texas this month on a string of dates alongside industrial rock pioneers KMFDM.

Joining him for the 5-date tour are bassist Paul Raven (Ministry/Killing Joke), guitarist SIN (Revolting Cocks) and drummer Mark Dufour (Skrew).

“It’s truly exciting to finally unleash the beast that is Snow Black on the masses,” says Owen of the upcoming shows.

“Snow Black is a chance for us to forget the bullshit & just get down and greasy while pounding out ass-shaking grooves!” comments Paul Raven, a veteran of the industrial scene best known for his time with industrial post-punk act Killing Joke as well as thrash/alt. metal act Prong and, most recently, Ministry.

“I can’t wait to get out there and terrorize Texas with my very good friends and partners in crime Phildo, Raven and Mark!” adds Revolting Cocks guitarist SIN.

Snow Black is Owen’s latest project since his return from this summer’s 60-date North American MasterBaTour 2006 (featuring Ministry & The Revolting Cocks). He has since been in the studio putting the finishing touches on Snow Black’s debut album entitled The Suggestion of Power.

Set for early 2007 release, The Suggestion of Power is a collection of 9 blistering industrial tracks layered with killer samples and Owen’s trademark raw, gritty vocals; an electronic assault on the senses, the message is simple, yet urgent- it is Owen at his finest, weaving a dark and brooding lyrical web of tongue-in-cheek idioms to reflect the socio-political complexities permeating American culture.

The album, produced by Owen, also features a contribution from industrial mastermind Buck Satan (Al Jourgensen) on the first single ‘Stick It In’; the two first collaborated in 1990 when Owen lent his vocals to the title track of RevCo’s raucous Beers, Steers & Queers album.

Four tracks from Snow Black's upcoming debut full-length are now available for fans exclusively via the band’s myspace site at: www.myspace.com/snowblack

Snow Black tour dates w/ KMFDM:
Oct. 18 Houston, TX - The Meridian
Oct. 19 Austin, TX - Emo’s
Oct. 20 Ft. Worth, TX - Ridglea Theater
Oct. 21 San Antonio, TX - White Rabbit

Ministry Reveal 'Rio Grande Blood' Artwork

The cover artwork for MINISTRY's upcoming album, "Rio Grande Blood", has been posted online here. Produced by MINISTRY founder Al Jourgensen, the follow-up to 2004's "Houses Of The Molé" was recorded at Sonic Ranch studios in Tornillo, Texas and features Tommy Victor (PRONG, ex-DANZIG) and Paul Raven (KILLING JOKE). A May 9 release via Jourgensen's newly launched 13th Planet label is expected. Two recent photos of MINISTRY taken during the recording sessions for their new album have been posted online: Photo #1 (left to right: Tommy Victor, Al Jourgensen, Paul Raven), Photo #2 (left to right: Raven, drummer Mark Baker, Jourgensen, Victor).

In other news, Jourgensen confirmed in a recent online posting that SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison will be sitting behind the kit for MINISTRY on their upcoming North American tour, which is scheduled to kick off in early May. Joey is expected to join a touring lineup that will include Jourgensen, Victor and Raven.

MINISTRY's MasterBaTour 2006 will consist of 60 dates scheduled throughout the U.S. and Canada beginning on May 6. Al Jourgensen On Revolting Cocks and Ministry

REVOLTING COCKS, the side project of MINISTRY mainman Al Jourgensen, have pushed back the release date of their new album, "Cocked and Loaded", to March 7, 2006 from the previously announced February 14. Produced by Al Jourgensen, the CD features the contributions of guest artists Jello Biafra (DEAD KENNEDYS), Gibby Haynes (BUTTHOLE SURFERS), Rick Nielsen (CHEAP TRICK), Billy Gibbons (ZZ TOP), Stevie Banch (SPYDER BABY) and Phildo Owen (SKATENIGS) and Robin Zander (CHEAP TRICK). The first REVOLTING COCKS record in more than a decade, "Cocked and Loadded" is being released through Jourgensen's new imprint 13th Planet/Megaforce Records. "It's pretty prurient and juvenile and everything else that REVOLTING COCKS are known for," Jourgensen told RollingStone.com. "It's basically middle-aged men regaining their lost, juvenile delinquency years and being absolutely sophomoric. It's great."

REVOLTING COCKS will hit the road May 5, opening for Jourgensen's other band MINISTRY, who release a new studio album, "Rio Grand Blood", in April. The album, titled after ZZ TOP's 1972 album "Rio Grande Mud", takes aim at Bush America.

"We kind of have this administration that's just a little bit arrogant and very transparent, as far as their agenda," Jourgensen told RollingStone.com. "This little war going on overseas, the little Iraq thing, that's kind of got my goat, too. The arrogance of the right has just got me. All these wimpy liberals — good for Howard Dean, screaming into a mike, showing them the left isn't all about granola and alfalfa sprouts!"

On the subject of his collaboration with Tommy Victor (ex-PRONG) and Paul Raven (ex-PRONG and KILLING JOKE) on the new MINISTRY album, Jourgensen said, "The most fruitful collaboration I've ever done in my life has been this record. The three of us used to be competition, between PRONG, MINISTRY and KILLING JOKE, and now that we've kind of joined forces — shit! We should have done this twenty years ago."

As for what MINISTRY will sound like live? "This is the fastest, hardest, most maniacal record I've ever done."
