New Bands Added To Brutal Assault 2017
A bunch of new bands have been announced for the 22nd edition of Brutal Assault, which takes place this year in Fortress Josefov near Jaromer in the Czech Republic on August 9-12. Returning once more are heavy-weights Hatebreed, who last graced the fortress stages in 2012 and 2013. This is reportedly in response to festival-goers requests for more hardcore in the line-up.
The Dillinger Escape Plan will be including the festival in their series of farewell dates. It looks like the band's appearance here won't be affected by the bus crash that caused some European tour dates to be cancelled last month. Dillinger last played Brutal Assault in 2015.
Thrash veterans Overkill, touring in support of their recently released 18th studio album, "The Grinding Wheel", have also been added. No stranger to the fortress stage, Overkill last appeared at the festival in 2013.
Helsinki's Wintersun are newcomers to Brutal Assault, appearing for the first time. Can we assume they will be playing material from their long-awaited third album? There's no official word as yet. More...

The Number Twelve Looks Like You Calls it Quits
New Jersey metalcore band The Number Twelve Looks Like You has decided to call it quits. The band will play one last farewell show on Friday, January 29 at School of Rock East in South Hackensack, NJ. The show will feature various special guests to be announced. Guitarist Alexis G. Pareja has issued the following statement regarding the decision to break up:
"When I first started picking up my guitar and playing my favorite songs I always aspired to be able to experience what these talented artists/musicians were feeling. They get up on stage night after night to deliver a show and connect on this level that is metaphysical with their fans. Perhaps fans look up to those artists because they are this kind of gateway to a greater Utopian sense of being that transcends whatever dismal reality we live in. Of course, there are musicians who do this for the wrong reasons and I have had the displeasure of encountering many of these types but they always end up chewed up and spit out by the same people that brought them there. What we forget is that this tightly knit community of genuine original music universally travels and destroys all barriers to bring even the 2 most opposing characters together. It also stands the test of time." More...

The Number Twelve Looks Like You Enters The Studio
The Number Twelve Looks Like You entered the studio in late August to begin work on their third full-length release. The Bergen County, NJ five-piece will be self-producing the effort at Backroom Studios in Rockaway, NJ. The as-yet-untitled disc will then be mixed by Steve Evetts (Every Time I Die) and is tentatively scheduled for an early-2009 release via Eyeball Records.
"It's that time again! Time where the geese run wild in the open studio and the waves of music stir up another tsunami," comments vocalist Jesse Korman. "That's right, we are back with a new musical roller coaster record that will be sure to harsh your mellow. We have crept outside of our box to write the MOST unlikely #12 collection yet. We are ready to have new riders journey the coaster with us and have our ever-so-loyal fans show them where to vomit."
The Number Twelve Looks Like You To Release DVD
The following is an official press release:
It took one band, six cameras, five hundred fans and master producer Casey Bates (Chiodos, Foxy Shazam, Fear Before The March of Flames) to capture one of the most historic live performances of The Number Twelve Looks Like You's career.
Shot on location at a sold-out School of Rock show on December 15th, 2007 in South Hackensack, New Jersey, Here At The End of All Things captures the chaotic and adrenaline infused live show that has made The Number Twelve Looks Like You so important to their fans, and to heavy music in general. The final show of a 75 day tour, the band tore through their eclectic set as though it were the last day on earth and the worst fate the universe could imagine was lingering outside the sold out venue doors. Fans have been debating the genesis of the strange extraterrestrial themes and quixotic radio broadcasts featured at the show and how they would be incorporated into the final dvd. When asked for some insight, Jase Korman lead singer for the band simply said, "We've been touring endlessly for years, but we still haven't played for everyone, so this DVD is a great way to reach every man, woman, and child in the United States of America. If you are a fan of 1996's Independance Day starring Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum, you will fall in love with Here At the End of All Things."
This latest release from Eyeball Records not only features an entire live show from one of the heaviest and most well respected grind-core art-metal bands in music today, but also includes bonus material, music videos, an intimate sit down with the band, and a special second disc capturing the night's audio, as well as bonus remixes courtesy of Jesse Cannon and more. The staff of Eyeball Records actually attempted to add CGI monsters, spaceships and an exploding White House to the final DVD performance but the furthest they got was a crudely drawn UFO on a notepad next to one of their computers. "None of us have ANY idea how to create CGI aliens... " said a sullen Eyeball employee, "Will Smith would be appalled."
Available for the first time on June 17th, "Here At The End of All Things" is another in a series of releases from a band whose relentless touring and hardcore work ethic prove time and again that they are in it for the long haul. The Number Twelve Looks Like You has toured with bands Thursday, GWAR, Minus The Bear, Every Time I Die, Shadows Fall, and others. Their video for "Grandfather" from 2007's Mongrel, landed the band on national TV when MTV2's legendary Head Banger's Ball picked the video up for rotation.

Necro Leaves Sounds Of The Underground Tour
Self proclaimed "death rap" artist Necro has issued the follwing statement from his official Myspace:
"I decided to leave the tour collectively with my manager and booking agent (both tour organizers) because we felt the tour’s demographic was not receiving hip hop well. I was facing hostile, disrespectful crowds and was returning the same energy back ten-fold by being more aggressive than them.
It was making a lot of people in the tour crew nervous and there was concern someone might get hurt (NOT ME). It was also being suggested that maybe I tone down my live show and not antagonize the already antagonistic crowd. I couldn’t roll with that as it’s not my style. I was holding back enough as it is but there is a line. All the bands on the tour loved us and everyone behind the scenes knew we displayed major heart and never once got phased by the hostility. We finished every show with middle fingers up and a big "Fuck You" to the crowd.
I will make one thing clear for the haters: we NEVER got booed OFF the stage. Not once. Yes a ton of emo kids booed us at every show, but we had a twenty-five minute set every night and we stayed on stage for every minute of it, and we represented. Every show had at least 100 to 200 Necro fans in the pit tearing it up, and our meet and greets were incredible!
It’s just a shame these little kids are so close-minded. The majority of the hate was coming from mop top emo sixteen-year olds who have no clue who the originators of metal are, and didn’t respect my rest in peace chant to metal legends (Dime, Cliff, Chuck, Piggy, SOB).
As far as the tour organizers and I are concerned, you are my people so it’s all love and I’m thankful for the opportunity to prove I can murder it in the worst of situations. This actually did a lot for me and is just one move in many my team will make to blow Necro up"
