WWE Superstars Schedule Ozzfest 2007 Appearances
Several WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) superstars will be making appearances on this year's Ozzfest tour. You can view the current appearance schedule here.
WWE is one of the sponsors of the 2007 Ozzfest, which is the first time the event will be held as a free show.
Earlier in the month, tickets for all 24 shows were distributed to a frenzy of music fans. More than 428,000 tickets in all were given away through LiveNation.com, marking the largest number of free tickets distributed in the United States in the history of the concert business. In a staged release and via various sponsor sites, including Monster Energy, Jägermeister, FYE, Pilgrim Films, Hustler Lingerie and WWE, LiveNation.com enabled fans to enter exclusive codes to obtain tickets beginning Friday, June 8. More than 228,000 tickets were distributed on June 12 alone, with the last ticket given away just after midnight. The tickets were completely free without surcharges of any kind.
Ozzy And Alice Honoured At Mojo Awards
The 2007 Mojo Awards took place at The Brewery in East London on June 18th and three of rock's biggest stars were among the winners.
Ozzy Osbourne picked-up the Mojo Icon Award, Alice Cooper picked-up the Mojo Hero Award and The Stooges were honoured with the Mojo Lifetime Achievement Award.
Ozzfest 2007 VIP Ticket Plan Revealed
It was announced months ago that tickets for this summer's Ozzfest would be free to fans, and that the longest-running heavy metal festival would subsist on corporate sponsorships and little else.
But obtaining those free tickets for one of the dates on this year's run — which kicks off July 12 in Auburn, Washington, and continues through August 30 in West Palm Beach, Florida — might just give some metal fans a migraine.
First, you have to send an e-mail requesting tickets, and then wait for a confirmation e-mail containing a link to the Web site of one of the tour's various sponsors. Next, you have to wait until June 12 before you can enter that code on some other Web site to redeem two tickets to whichever date you'd like to attend. It's a whole rigmarole that some fans — or, more specifically, those willing to drop some serious scratch — can avoid.
That's right, folks — while this summer's Live Nation-sponsored Ozzfest will be free to most, some will fork over upward of $1,000 to get in. As in years past, Ozzfest's organizers will offer fans a number of VIP ticket packages for purchase, which will ensure them a seat for all the headbangin' action.
The festival's "Party Like a Rockstar" package — which includes preferred pavilion seating, access to the second-stage VIP viewing platform behind the mixing boards, access to the general VIP area, a behind-the-scenes tour and a special host "to help you rock harder than you have ever rocked before" — returns this summer, and will set you back $300. There's also the "I'm Part of the Show" package, which costs $666 and includes all the same perks, in addition to a seat on the Ozzfest stage during Osbourne's concert-closing set.
There's also the "Platinum" package, which will be available by auction in the not-so-distant future. The starting bid will be $1,000 and will be limited to only 10 guests per show. This offer includes everything the "I'm Part of the Show" package does, and then some. Fans who win the auction will also get a personal meeting with Osbourne and his band, along with a certificate signed by Sharon Osbourne. The proceeds of these tickets will go to the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.
The festival's 12th annual installment boasts a bill including Ozzy Osbourne, 3 Inches Of Blood, Ankla, Behemoth, Chthonic, Circus Diablo, Daath, Hatebreed, In This Moment, Lamb of God, Lordi, Mondo Generator, Nile, Static-X and The Showdown.
The 24-city 12th annual OZZFEST will launch July 12 in Seattle, WA at the White River Amphitheatre. Here are the tour dates: More...

Ozzy Osbourne Misses Autobiography Deadline
OZZY OSBOURNE has missed the deadline to finish his autobiography. Ozzy signed a lucrative deal to publish a tell-all tome about his battle with alcoholism, drugs, depression and his marriage to Sharon Osbourne. However, Ozzy has been too slow putting pen to paper and the book - which was due to be released in time for Christmas - has now been postponed until next year. Ozzy's publicist Gary Farrow told Britain's The Independent newspaper: "He just hasn't written it. He is always doing something else, either recording or busy with his festival Ozzfest. "Sharon is always trying to persuade him to sit down and write, but he won't."

As previously reported, Ozzy Osbourne will be the first star inducted into the Birmingham Walk of Fame on Broad Street/ The induction is set for July 6th 2007.
Ozzy First To Receive Birmingham Walk Of Fame Star
Birmingham is to have it's own Hollywood style Walk of Fame on Broad Street and local hero and global superstar Ozzy Osbourne will be the first star inducted on July 6th 2007.
The Birmingham Walk of Stars will honour those people who have made a significant contribution in the categories of music, television, film, radio, theatre, sport and literacy.
Ozzy's induction to the Walk of Stars will be on the same day as the rock legend's homecoming concert at Birmingham's National Indoor Arena.
A handmade brass paving star will be placed in Broad Street in Ozzy's honour and further stars are planned in the near future. Uniquely, the pavement stars will be placed throughout the area creating a Walk of Stars trail. The exact location of the 'Ozzy Osbourne star' will be revealed closer to the induction event, which the public will be welcome to attend.
The Right Worshipful Lord Mayor of Birmingham Councillor Randal Brew said "I would like to invite Ozzy Osbourne to be the first person to be inducted on to the Birmingham Walk of Stars in Broad Street. Ozzy means a lot to Birmingham people and it will be a great day."
Gary Taylor, Chair of the Broad Street Business Improvement District, organisers of the Walk of Stars said "Ozzy is widely recognised as the most famous Birmingham person in the world today and we're proud to be able to offer him the honour of being the first star on the 'Walk of Stars' in Broad Street. It's a great testament to what this area offers, we have some incredibly talented people from Birmingham together with world famous acts that regularly perform in this area and we wanted to start honouring them in a way that shows how proud we are to have them here."
Ozzy Osbourne, who was also inducted onto the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2002 commented "I have a star in Hollywood on their Walk of Fame but having a Star in my home town means so much more to me. A personal thanks goes out to Lord Mayor Randal Brew."
Ozzy has sold over 50 million CD's as a solo artist worldwide. His new album Black Rain is out May 21st (Europe) and 22nd (North America). This summer he plays his biggest European tour to date - a 19 date tour which will incorporate the only UK dates in London at Wembley Arena on 19th June and Birmingham's NIA on July 6th.
The public are now being asked to get involved and to nominate and vote for the stars they would like to see honoured, via the website www.walkofstars.co.uk.
Sarzo 'Sets Record Straight' On Rhoads Documentary
Former QUIET RIOT / OZZY OSBOURNE and current DIO bassist Rudy Sarzo has issued a statement in response to a recent press release from Rudy's former QUIET RIOT bandmate Kevin DuBrow in which DuBrow explained the reasons behind his decision to withdraw his involvement in an upcoming documentary about late OZZY OSBOURNE / QUIET RIOT guitarist Randy Rhoads.
Said Sarzo: "In response to a recent press release from Kevin DuBrow, I'm compelled to address his statements regarding claims of inaccuracies in my book, 'Off the Rails', and towards an upcoming Randy Rhoads documentary now in production.
"I want to highly stress that Dakota Pictures' Randy Rhoads documentary that is being directed by Peter Margolis is not based on my book, 'Off the Rails', or any book for that matter. In no way is the film scripted. It is based on interviews from family members, childhood friends, former band members and fans who want to share their memories and express their feelings about Randy in this special tribute.
"The documentary's director, Peter Margolis, is an ex-student of Randy Rhoads. His life was truly influenced by Randy's music and friendship. The film has 100 percent support and participation of the Rhoads family, and from what I understand, Kelle Rhoads [Randy's brother] will be contributing to the soundtrack of the film.
"I sincerely hope that Kevin's animosity towards me, which he's been harboring for nearly 25 years, does not extend into this well-meaning project.
"In response to Mr. DuBrow's statement that my book is filled with inaccuracies, well, I have yet to see him back up his allegations. Besides, out of the 24 chapters in the book, there is only one that refers to my time with Randy in QUIET RIOT. The other 23 chapters are about my memories of Randy during my period in Ozzy's band."
With the blessings of the family of late OZZY OSBOURNE / QUIET RIOT guitarist Randy Rhoads, Dakota Pictures and director Peter Margolis began filming the "Randy Rhoads Documentary" on March 19 at the Mountain View Cemetery. In hopes to fully capture the significance of the 25th anniversary of Randy's passing, the filmmakers interviewed as many of Randy's fans as possible.
Tony Iommi Talks About Dio-Era Black Sabbath
D.X. Ferris of the Cleveland Scene recently conducted an interview with BLACK SABBATH / HEAVEN AND HELL guitarist Tony Iommi. A few excerpts from the chat follow:
Scene: What do you think is the strength of Dio-era [BLACK SABBATH]?
Iommi: The songs are really strong. They stand up, and I just think they're classic songs.
Scene: The Dio albums were heavier and faster. At the time, were you trying to compete with MAIDEN and PRIEST, who'd grown big in your shadow?
Iommi: With Ronnie, it enabled us to do a lot more faster songs. They were a lot more uptempo, and quite exciting. Ronnie creates that vibe. With Ozzy , we used to do some uptempo stuff, but it was mainly mid-tempo material. Certainly now, with our stage show, we can put in more uptempo stuff with Dio - where, with Ozzy, I think "Paranoid" was the fastest one we did. As soon as we changed lineups, it gave us a new spark of life. It's like anything: You can go on and go on. And in them days, we had the first three or four albums really that done well, and then you get into a bit of rut. We were young, don't forget, and we went through a lot of drugs and everything else. And it affected our music and our vibe and our mood and the band.
Scene: Had band cleaned up by Dio's arrival??
Iommi: No. But at the time, it enabled us to clean up a bit afterward. But it doesn't matter if you're doing things or not. You have to create something within the band. And at the time, with Ozzy, we'd sort of burned ourselves out.
Scene: Do you consider the band metal?
Iommi: These days, I just go along with whatever people want to call it. Going back to the '70s, I've just classed us as heavy rock. It got into this label of metal, so that's what it is, you know?
Scene: SABBATH had a few singers. After Ozzy and Dio, who's number 3?
Iommi: I hate to put it in that category, but Glenn Hughes is a great singer. I've done a few projects with Glenn. He's a tremendous singer.
Scene: Do you have future plans for HEAVEN AND HELL?
Iommi: We said we'd do this year and put a time limit on it instead of going on and on and on. I'm sure we'll look at it as time goes on.
Scene: You started a new album with Ozzy, and it never arrived. Will you finish it at some point?
Iommi: I'm sure we will. I don't know when. Last time around, we wrote so many songs, and it just dwindled off. We ended up going on tour, and Ozzy started doing "The Osbournes", and the thing just fizzled out, to be honest.
Scene: Do you think the Dio era is underrated?
Iommi: I think it's got some great respect. Those albums did quite well when they came out. And judging by the shows now, it's fantastic. It's refreshing. It's great. For the last years, we've been playing the Ozzy sets, which has been great. But it's nice to be able to do something else.

Ozzy Osbourne To Perform On WWE Smackdown
Ozzy Osbourne is ready to rock WWE. The rock legend will perform "I Don't Wanna Stop," the first single off his new album, Black Rain, live in Baltimore on SmackDown next week. "I Don't Wanna Stop" is the official theme song for Judgment Day, and Osbourne is no stranger to WWE.
"Working with WWE, it's fun, you know. I'm not new to wrestling. I started doing some stuff with the British Bulldogs many, many years ago," Osbourne told WWE.com, referring to his WrestleMania 2 appearance.
"I became a very good friend of Andre the Giant when he was alive. I used to go drinking with him, and he was such a lovely man," he said.
Epic Records' Black Rain will hit store shelves on May 22. It's Osbourne's first album of new studio material in six years. (Pre-order Black Rain now.)
"To be perfectly truthful with you, I was not aware it was six years. I thought it was a few years, but not six," Osbourne said. "I built a studio at the back of my house. I always wanted to have my own studio, and make my own record, in my own studio, and my dream came true."
Osbourne will embark on a world tour in Moscow on May 27 in support of Black Rain. Then he'll head back to the United States for this summer's 12th annual Ozzfest. Beginning July 12 in Seattle, this year's festival is being dubbed "FreeFest" because admission to the 24-city tour costs nothing. More...

Furthermore, the album now appears to have been expanded to include 11 tracks (not including the iTunes pre-order bonus cut), the latest addition being the song "Nightmare".
Dubrow Refuses To Take Part In Rhoads Documentary
GuitarWorld.com has learned that former QUIET RIOT singer Kevin DuBrow has refused to participate in an upcoming documentary about his former friend and QUIET RIOT bandmate Randy Rhoads.
DuBrow had originally agreed to be interviewed for the as-yet-untitled Rhoads film, according to director Peter Margolis, and even provided private photos and videos.
"Four days after this great conversation in which he was enthusiastic and funny, I get this e-mail that was almost like a form letter," Margolis tells Guitar World magazine. "And it reads, 'Thank you for offering to have me in the movie, but I am going to have to decline to participate. I wish you and the Rhoads family the best of luck.' It was so impersonal. I really don't know what made him change his mind."
For more information, visit the film's MySpace page.
In 1982, Rhoads, the then-lead guitarist for OZZY OSBOURNE, and two others were killed at Flying Baron Estates, just outside Leesburg, Florida, when their small plane struck Osbourne's tour bus, then crashed into a mansion.
Ozzy On Touring: "This Could Be The Last One"
Could this year's Ozzfest be the end of the road for Ozzy Osbourne? The 58-year-old metal legend says it's entirely possible.
"At my age, I don't know how many more of these tours I have left in me," Osbourne tells Guitar World magazine. "This could be the last one."
Osbourne founded the annual summer metal festival in 1996, and it has since grown to become one of the largest and most popular tours.
Although the singer stated in 2006 that he would no longer make regular appearances at Ozzfest, he announced in February 2007 that he would headline this year's tour. "I owe my audience something," he says. "I owe them everything."
But he admits the pressures of the festival are taking a toll on him. "It's a hell of a lot of responsibility for me. If I get sick or if my voice gets blown out or whatever the fuck happens, and I can't make a show, the audience gets pretty fucking mad."
Ozzy Talks About Ozzfest, His Wife, Black Sabbath
Launch Radio Networks reports: Ozzy Osbourne is once again headlining Ozzfest this summer, only this time the tour is offering free admission to everyone who attends and no pay to the bands on the bill. Osbourne admits that he doesn't really know how the experiment will work out, but told Launch that he has absolute confidence in his wife, manager and tour co-founder, Sharon Osbourne: "With this 'Freefest,' I said, 'How does it work, Shar?' And she goes, 'Don't worry, it's all under control.'I always think of the bad thing that can happen, but she's so clever at what she does. You know what, I always end up getting the wrong end of the stick and I get yelled at, you know, so I just go, 'Okay, babe, I love you, and you haven't let me down so far. God bless you. I'll do whatever you want me to do.'"
This summer's "free" Ozzfest will start on July 12 in Seattle. Information on obtaining tickets is available at the festival web site.
Osbourne will release his new solo album, "Black Rain", on May 22. The first single from the disc is called "I Don't Wanna Stop".
The singer will perform on ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" the evening of the album's release.
Osbourne is one of the artists being honoured this month on the second "VH1 Rock Honors". The singer will perform three songs at the event, including a track from "Black Rain". The show will be taped on May 12 in Las Vegas and premiere on VH1 on May 24.
In other Ozzy news:
"Ozzy Osbourne has told MTV.com that he be playing several songs from "Black Rain" at Ozzfest this summer but will of course dip into the archives to play some of his older solo material, as well as some BLACK SABBATH classics. But he can't take credit for this summer's gratis tickets.
"I'm the entertainer — my wife's the manager," he said. "I may be talking out of my ass, but what happened was, we always try to do a reasonable ticket. We have to alter it and ultimately put more on the ticket [as tour-related costs increase]. So last year, Sharon was getting pissed off at the bands who wanted more and more [money to play], so she goes, 'F--- this, I'm going to do it for nothing,' and bring it back down to earth. And people thought it would be a washout, that it wouldn't work.
"It's our way of saying, 'Eh, come along, have some fun,' " he continued. "The ticket prices don't ever go down. ... We're in hard times now. I'm just trying to bring a bit of fairness to the game, and Sharon is also, and keep people happy. If it wasn't for them — I'm [turning] 59 this year — I wouldn't be anywhere near where I am now. I wouldn't be living in these houses I have."
As for the reunion of BLACK SABBATH's 1980s lineup — guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler, singer Ronnie James Dio and drummer Vinny Appice — which will be touring this year under the moniker HEAVEN AND HELL, Ozzy wishes them all the best but maintains the only true BLACK SABBATH is the band he fronts. And while he's not sure what HEAVEN AND HELL's future plans might be, his next order of business, so long as the rest of the guys are still up for it, is to record with SABBATH once again.
"I'm still on for an album and a tour with them, but we have no [new material written]," he said. "It would be so easy for us to get in and out of a studio and make an album. But if it's not up to the par of when I left, why do it? It will destroy the f---ing legacy of BLACK SABBATH, and the legend of BLACK SABBATH. I haven't dropped the idea, because Tony and I are talking alright about it. I haven't abandoned the idea — like, 'If my album does well, f--- BLACK SABBATH.' It's what I want to do. We have repaired some of the damage between each other, and now, I'd like to do a really good f---ing BLACK SABBATH album."
Ozzy Reflects On Drug Use And Creativity
Launch Radio Networks reports: OZZY OSBOURNE will release his first album of all-new material in six years, titled "Black Rain", on May 22. When asked why there's been such a gap between studio projects, Osbourne told Launch that it took him a long time to realize he could write and record music while being completely clean and sober. "I used to get so frustrated with myself," he said. "I mean, I thought that you had to get loaded to make songs. I just thought drugs and alcohol are probably the major inspiration of making music, which I truly believed that because I'd never made a record without using it. And I thought it was that was making me creative."
"Black Rain" is Osbourne's first solo effort since 2001's "Down To Earth". The first single, called "I Don't Wanna Stop", arrived at radio two weeks ago.
Ozzy recorded "Black Rain" with the band that backed him on the 2006 Ozzfest tour, consisting of guitarist Zakk Wylde, drummer Mike Bordin and ex-ROB ZOMBIE bassist Rob "Blasko" Nicholson.
Ozzy will headline this summer's "free" Ozzfest, beginning on July 12 in Seattle.
Fans who purchase specially marked copies of "Black Rain" will have a first shot at scoring Ozzfest tickets. The CD's initial pressing will contain a code that allows the user to obtain two tickets through a special web site on June 8, four days before tickets become available to the general public.
Black Label Society is Not Playing Ozzfest 2007
ZAKK WYLDE has announced that his BLACK LABEL SOCIETY will NOT be playing this year's Ozzfest, dubbed Freefest as there is no charge for tickets.
