Background
Self-proclaimed leaders of the "new wave of American heavy metal", Chimaira was formed in Cleveland in 1998, recording the indie This Present Darkness album in 2000 before earning a contract with Roadrunner Records for their next two releases.
Chimaira was spawned in 1998 by Jason Hager, the guitarist of the now defunct, Ascension. Hager's desire to start an intense new metal band led him to Mark Hunter, previously of Cleveland's Skipline. Mark's vocal strengths and abilities as a songwriter made him an easy choice. After a great deal of trial and error the Chimaira family came to be what it is today: Mark Hunter (vocals), Rob Arnold and Jason Hager (guitarists) (recently left band and replaced by Matt Devries), Andols Herrick (drummer), Jim LaMarca (bass), and Chris Spicuzza (electronics).
This Cleveland six piece's unrelenting attitude and drive to succeed has helped them sell close to 10,000 copies of their independently released EP, This Present Darkness. Chimaira developed their fan base through touring, the Internet and radio- particularly stations 93X(Minneapolis) and WSOU (NY/NJ). Last year Chimaira shared the stage with the likes of Soulfly, Hatebreed, Spineshank, and Snapcase.
In March 2001 the band joined forces with the illustrious producer Mudrock (Godsmack, Powerman 5000) to put together the 14 fiercely emotional tracks that are showcased on PASS OUT OF EXISTENCE - the band's Roadrunner debut album.

Chimaira Post New Track, "Worthless," Online
Chimaira have added a new track titled "Worthless" to their MySpace player. The track off of their Ferret Music debut entitled "Ressurection," which will be in stores in North American on March 6.
CHIMAIRA began recording "Resurrection" on October 2 with the production team of Jason Suecof and Andy Sneap (MACHINE HEAD, ARCH ENEMY). The band filmed a video for the title track off "Resurrection" on December 6-7 in the Los Angeles area.
Chimaira Sets Premiere Of "Resurrection" Video
On February 5th, 2007, Chimaira will premiere “Resurrection,” the new video off of their forthcoming release on Ferret Music. The next day, February 6th, 2007, Chimaira will launch the single for purchase. Fans can download/purchase the single through various web stores like Napster and iTunes. The full album will be released on March 6th, 2007.
The video for “Resurrection” was directed by Todd Bell. With the popularity of Mixed Martial Arts, Chimaira have combined forces with MMA fighter Mavrick.

A brand new trailer of the 'Making of Resurrection' DVD has been posted on Ferret Music's YouTube page. This trailer will also be included in the limited edition version of the album. Both versions are available March 6th - or you can preorder them now for special low prices.
Megadeth Guitarist To Guest On Lion's Share Album
MEGADETH/EIDOLON guitarist Glen Drover has recorded a guest solo on the new album from Swedish melodic metal band LION'S SHARE. Also scheduled to appear on the CD are drummer Richard Evensand (CHIMAIRA, SOILWORK), guitarist Bruce Kulick (KISS), and singer Mats Levén (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, THERION, AT VANCE, KRUX), who is responsible for the backing vocals on the entire CD.
LION'S SHARE has uploaded some photos from the current mixing sessions with Ronny Lahti (ROXETTE, SAIGON KICK, EUROPE, GLENN HUGHES, ELECTRIC BOYS) at their MySpace page. Lahti previously worked with the group on their third album, "Fall from Grace".

Former CHIMAIRA/SOILWORK drummer Richard Evensand is currently in the studio recording drums for the eagerly awaited comeback album by Swedish melodic metal masters LION'S SHARE. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Toxication Rave", "Cult Of Denial", "Bloodstained Soil", "Trafficking", and "Emotional Coma".
As previously reported, former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick has already recorded a guest solo for the song "The Edge of the Razor". The new album will be the group's fifth, with the first four having been released by Century Media and Massacre Records between 1995 and 2001. During this period, the band toured heavily with such acts as DIO, MANOWAR, MOTÖRHEAD, SAXON, NEVERMORE, ICED EARTH, U.D.O. etc.
LION'S SHARE's upcoming CD will mark the band's debut with new singer Patrik Johansson (also in ASTRAL DOORS), who replaced Tony Niva in 2005.

Details On Chimaira's New Album 'Resurrection'
CHIMAIRA is currently in the studio with producer Jason Suecof (Trivuim, God Forbid) recording their fourth album titled “Resurrection” at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford , Florida .
Last week producer Andy Sneap (Nevermore, Arch Enemy, Killswitch Engage) recorded drum tracks for “Resurrection” in Cleveland with original CHIMAIRA drummer Andols Herrick who is now back (in CHIMAIRA) by popular demand; Andy Sneap will be mixing the album once it is completed. Expect to see this recording in stores Spring 2007 on Ferret Records.
Vocalist Mark Hunter explains, “This is our fourth album and we as a band, are collectively and for the first time ever, in synch and in a ‘positive’ new headspace; we are all really excited about the new material.”
“Resurrection” features 13 songs; of which two of those songs will be added as bonus tracks for a special limited edition simultaneous worldwide release; plus, an added bonus documentary of ‘the making of Resurrection’ directed by Todd Bell. Todd directed CHIMAIRA’s last DVD and at last fans can expect the loose ends from their (DVD The Dehumanizing Process) to be tied together with this special bonus release
In matching the new CHIMAIRA material which is like the musical equivalent of a sledgehammer to the face; the band announces that their cover art will be done by legendary artist Paul Booth .

Chimaira Signs To Ferret Music
Chimaira's recent record deal with Ferret Music is now official. Ferret will release the Cleveland, OH band's upcoming album in North America, while Nuclear Blast Records will release the effort elsewhere. Here's a statement from the group:
"Well it's official! We've wrapped things up and signed two record deals! The first one being with Ferret Music for our home turf North America. We have known the guys over at Ferret for many years and they are great friends. We look forward to building off that friendship and making great records together. We knew we wanted to sign to Ferret right away and it was a great feeling to hear they felt the same way about Chimaira. They have a vision for this band that just blows us away, and we feel very fortunate to finally be working with a team that understands us.
For our friends outside of the US, we have linked up with Nuclear Blast. We met these guys on the European Sounds Of The Underground tour and were so thrilled to learn that they too were big of fans of Chimaira. Chimaira Prepares To Record New Album
Chimaira continues to write material for their next full-length. The group has completed seven songs with vocals thus far, with another four awaiting vocal treatment. One song title revealed by the band is "The Flame." Comments frontman Mark Hunter, "Musically this record reminds me a lot of 'The Impossibility of Reason.' I don't think the songs are similar, I just have the vibe of intensity that I did back then."
The group parted ways with Roadrunner Records following the release of their last album, but have since signed with a new label. We can't reveal the new label, but it goes like this: ****** *****.
