Brutal Assault Festival Band Upddate Announced
Brutal Assault Festival announces another band update for its upcoming 2019 edition. Tells the festival promotion agency:
"Let’s open this mega update with a black metal stormblast! Over seven years, deathlike silence has filled the halls of the world’s biggest black metal forge, whilst powers have been gathering to resurrect the band right in time for their 25th anniversary. And now DIMMU BORGIR have finally returned with a vicious work of art that is their latest album Eonian and they are coming to storm the main stage at Brutal Assault!
Wicked aural filth comes from the islands with GODFLESH, who are highly regarded as one of the pioneers of industrial metal; they took industrial to the next level with their fuse of heavy guitars and mixing it with slow drum loops and effects and their unique approach has spawned several musical styles since their conception.
Brutal Assault will also present a combo of iconic thrashers that need no introduction, ANTHRAX and SACRED REICH will make it to the fest alongside upcoming crossover thrash ministry IRON REAGAN and a staple name of the genre PRONG. More...

Vuur Releases New Music Video
Anneke van Giersbergen's new band Vuur is set to release debut album "In This Moment We Are Free - Cities" on October 20th, 2017. Now the group is pleased to reveal an official video for new single "My Champion - Berlin."
Anneke comments: "This song is the opening track of our debut album and it serves as a kind of master of ceremonies. It's both heavy and melodic, it showcases the technical abilities of the band, but you can still sing along to it. That's basically the kind of album I wanted to make. Our guitar player Jord Otto wrote the song and collaborated with producer Joost van den Broek to finalise it. I wrote the lyrics and vocal melodies.
"This song is about Berlin after World War II. The goddess on the Berlin Victory Column was raised to commemorate military victories, but in the song the city speaks to her and is asking her for help to overcome troubled times. I wanted to make a performance video, one that presents the band as a group that is about music and plays with their heart and soul. That's what we are and I am really proud of this band." More...
Vuur Posts Album Trailer, Reveals Track Listing
Anneke van Giersbergen's new band Vuur just unveiled the cover artwork and track listing for forthcoming debut album, "In This Moment We Are Free - Cities." The 11-track LP is due for release on October 20th via InsideOut Music and a teaser trailer featuring snippets from the release can be heard below.
The album will be available on special edition CD digipak, gatefold 2LP + CD (including etching on side D) & digital download. Pre-orders start today via this location.
Regarding the cover artwork, band founder Anneke says: "The cover is designed by Black & Finch with whom I've previously worked on the 'Verloren Verleden' release.
"The lyrical themes of this album revolve around cities and freedom. Exposure to big cities can be overwhelming and you can feel engulfed by everything around you. At the same time it's easy to be a stranger in a big city and for me that brings out a feeling of freedom as well.
"This past year I've thought a lot about the virtues of rural versus urban life, since me and my family are moving back to the city. It's very exciting, but at the same time I know that sense of urban solitude from past experiences. The cover artwork represents this duality."

Vuur Launches City Guessing Contest
Anneke van Giersbergen's Vuur is pleased to announce the release of debut album "In This Moment We Are Free - Cities" on October 20th, 2017 worldwide through InsideOutMusic.
Each track on the new album is named after a city that made an impression on Anneke while touring the world, and to celebrate the release, a contest was just launched where fans can guess each of the locations featured on the album. Head to this location to take part.
Anneke comments: "Often I have a strong feeling for a city where I perform. It can be anything, sometimes I visualize a city as a man or a character, or sometimes something happened in that city that I want to write about. All 11 songs on the album pay tribute to a certain city and with this contest we'd like to give our fans the opportunity to guess which cities will be featured on the album and win some unique items."

VUUR Streams New Single "Days Go By - London"
In 2016, renowned Dutch vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen announced the formation of a brand new progressive metal group under the name of VUUR. The band debuts "Days Go By - London" with an album track video and digital release. This song is the first track taken from VUUR's debut album, which has yet to be named, due in the fall of this year.
Anneke comments: "The lyrical content of the album is inspired by the many cities I have visited while being on the road. The song 'Days Go By - London' is about The Great Fire in 1666. The lyrics are written from the perspective of the element of Fire, threatening Londoners to wipe them out, but the song is also about hope. Even in the darkest of times, the sun will rise."

Anneke Van Giersbergen Launches New Band VUUR
Renowned Dutch vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gentle Storm/ex-The Gathering) has announced the formation of a brand new band under the name of VUUR, which was created as a vehicle for the heavy progressive metal side of her career. Joining her will be familiar faces: Ed Warby (drums) (The Gentle Storm/Hail of Bullets), Marcela Bovio (vocals) (Stream Of Passion), Johan van Stratum (Stream Of Passion), Jord Otto (guitars) (Re-Vamp) and Ferry Duijsens (guitars) (The Gentle Storm/Leaves' Eyes).
In early 2016, Anneke decided for the sake of clarity to narrow her musical focus, choosing to go in a folk acoustic direction as a solo artist and in a heavy progressive metal direction as a band vocalist. The name VUUR - translated from Dutch as "fire", which can also be interpreted to mean "passion" or "drive" - was chosen as a moniker to represent Anneke's metal side, with the idea that when fans buy a ticket with the VUUR name on it they will be getting her heavy progressive music, while an Anneke van Giersbergen show will be entirely different. Thus, in order to give VUUR's kick-off the proper fanfare, Anneke has opted to take a break from performing in the first half of 2017. More...
