Venus Principle To Release Debut Album In May

Venus Principle are now premiering the video clip "Rebel Drones" as the first single taken from the dark psychedelic rockers' debut full-length "Stand in Your Light," which has been slated for release on May 27. You can check out the video below.

"Releasing a debut album is the pinnacle moment for any new band and even more so with the added obstacle of recording that album during a pandemic across two countries", writes singer and pianist Daisy Chapman. "After months of work behind closed doors, its first public airing is both exciting and tense – everything has to be right. We are stoked to finally release our first single. 'Rebel Drones' was among the first songs written and we think it represents the whole album particularly well. This project was conceived remotely, but the music on 'Stand in Your Light' transcends borders and represents Venus Principle as one entity of experienced musicians and friends. We can hardly wait for all the world to finally hear our creation." More...

Crippled Black Phoenix Posts New Video Online

Dark Progressive rock outfit Crippled Black Phoenix will be releasing the full-length "Ellengæst" on October 9 via Season of Mist! The band has partnered with Metal Injection to premiere the intense, thought-provoking music video for their brand new single, "Lost." The song and video, which was once again created by Guilherme Henriques, can be found below!

Mastermind Justin Greaves comments on the track: "As the quote goes from Belinda’s lyrics ‘The dangerous nature of an ignorant mind, the final fall for mankind.’ This line stands out to represent our feelings on the subject of global and human decline.

"Generally people know more of what happens in the world than they’re willing to face, instead they turn away and choose to ignore things that are uncomfortable or inconvenient. Well, we’d like to invite those people to be aware and maybe get some fucking empathy!

"As for the song itself, Belinda really took the bull by the horns and wrote some of her best lyrics ever, and her delivery is perfect, along with Vincent who adds his powerful voice to the song. You can hear both voices with genuine emotions. More...

Crippled Black Phoenix Reveals New Album Details

Crippled Black Phoenix are now unveiling the title and the release date of their forthcoming new album! The new offering will carry the name "Ellengæst," and is set for world wide release on October 9, 2020. New music and the pre-order kick off will be shared on July 28.

Mastermind Justin Greaves comments: "This album was recorded at the end of last year so we’re super excited to finally let it go free into the world, it feels like it’s a new age for CBP, we’re embracing the change. The songs are a collection of thoughts and feelings which all relate to how we exist in the world but also it’s about crossing into the other dimensions, how we all have spirits and demons, how we can be strong and also weak. How we miss loved ones and also lament the human race. The artwork by Thana really expresses the theme of the album, it visualises the spiritual aspect of Ellengæst perfectly. There’s an atmosphere about it which draws you in."

Crippled Black Phoenix are furthermore revealing the artwork and track-list of 'Ellengæst'. Both can be viewed below. More...

Crippled Black Phoenix Posts "Scared And Alone"

International dark rock collective and Season Of Mist-signee Crippled Black Phoenix has released an animated music video for the track "Scared and Alone," taken off the recently released full-length album "Bronze." The video was animated by Costin Chioreanu and can be seen below.

Regarding the video, Crippled Black Phoenix founder Justin Greaves comments: "Costin Chioreanu has created an amazing clip. His animation fits so very well that this can only come from someone, who truly understands the feeling behind this song. It is not an easy thing to connect with so I have nothing but respect and praise for Costin. 'Scared and Alone' speaks volumes about being cut off from the outside world and other people when the 'Black Dog' bites.

"Depression, anxiety and mental health are becoming bigger issues and when someone speaks up, it opens a door for other people to get things off their mind. Belinda wrote the lyrics as well as doing the vocals for 'Scared and Alone' and she did not need to be given any direction. As always, she took the title and the music and shaped the most real and heartfelt words into a very poetic form. I am deeply satisfied with the way everything turned out, both sonically and visually." More...

Crippled Black Phoenix Streaming "Turn To Stone"

Crippled Black Phoenix just premiered "Turn to Stone," featuring Arvid Jonsson from Greenleaf on vocals and taken from forthcoming album "Bronze." This rocking Joe Walsh cover easily demonstrates the great musical range of the dark progressive U.K. band, who will release "Bronze" on November 4th via Season Of Mist.

Mastermind Justin Greaves comments: "Crippled Black Phoenix has a history of occasionally recording cover versions, usually as extra tracks or for compilation albums. This time, while recording 'Bronze', it occurred to me that our version of the classic Joe Walsh song 'Turn to Stone' was worthy of being part of the actual album.

"The original is such a great song and I think it fits with the Crippled Black Phoenix approach to playing good honest rock music. It got even better as we had the great fortune of having Arvid Jonsson from the band Greenleaf coming to the studio session in Stockholm to do some wicked guest vocals. His voice fits the songs so well! In a break from the norm, we are happy for Season Of Mist to suggest us releasing this track as a preview running up to the release of 'Bronze.'" More...

Crippled Black Phoenix Posts New Song

Crippled Black Phoenix premieres a new song entitled "Winning A Losing Battle", taken from the upcoming new album "Bronze", which will be out in stores November 4th through Season of Mist.

Check out now "Winning A Losing Battle" below.

Comments mastermind Justin Greaves: "Some songs depart from my mind into reality without consent. ‘Winning A Losing Battle’ is one of those. The track just barged itself into the world. It is also one of the musically unconventional Crippled Black Phoenix style of songs that keep appearing on our albums. The title says it all. We have been through a lot of adversity as a band in these past two years and even though it seemed that all is doomed at times – I/we never gave up or gave in. We just say ‘screw you’ to the people and forces that tried to bring us down. Crippled Black Phoenix win, and always will." More...

Crippled Black Phoenix Signs With Season Of Mist

Season of Mist is proud to announce the signing of the international dark rock collective Crippled Black Phoenix, founded by multi-instrumentalist Justin Greaves. Regarding the signing, Greaves comments:

"Crippled Black Phoenix are lighting lanterns and scaling the highest peak in celebration of signing with Seasons of Mist. For too long we have been placed in situations where we did not quite fit, but now we feel like we found a more understanding home, a home where people care about the end result and do not compromise. This marks a bright, creative and equally dangerous future for the band and Crippled Black Phoenix are very happy with our new partnership."

An EP titled "New Dark Age" is coming November 27, and you can hear the song "Spider Island" below. The track listing is:

1. Spider Island
2. New Dark Age
3. Echoes PT. 1 (Pink Floyd cover)
4. Echoes PT. 2 (Pink Floyd cover)

Regarding the track, Greaves comments: "Our 'New Dark Age' tour EP represents a new chapter in the Crippled Black Phoenix history. I feel like it is time to be truly free of industry and personal bullshit. It also connects what we have gone through as a band with what is going on in the big wide world. It really feels as if we are living in a new 'dark age'. Religious and political oppression, the population being fed constant untruths - all of this reminds me of the priests in the middle ages telling folk about dog-headed monsters living in the woods, but if you repent and join the church, they will protect you. The song 'Spider Island' is more personal. There I mentally put all the bad people... recently there have been a few people who need to go to Spider Island and live a life of torture along with all the other scumbags, who cling to power in the world."
