Background
This melodic death metal band, formed by former Carcass’ guitarist, Michael Amott, started out with Johan Liiva on vocals, but then replaced him with Angela Gossow. Though a female replaced him, the band still has the same death metal vocal style. Gossow, who has only been with the band on the past two albums, has been able to create a strong presence in the band.

Arch Enemy Announces New Album
Three years after the release of "Khaos Legions," Arch Enemy has started mixing a 9th studio album with Jens Bogren at Fascination Street in Sweden.
Michael Amott (guitar) comments: "We've been producing ourselves, as we did on 'Khaos Legions'. We have a clear vision of what we want Arch Enemy to sound like, and we can actually achieve it without the help of outside producers. We also have the advantage of having two talented sound engineers among our ranks in Daniel Erlandsson (drums) and Nick Cordle (guitar).
"We've been tracking at a few different studios here in Sweden, the drums at Fascination Street Studio and guitars and bass in another room. We just finished vocals in a third studio with engineer Staffan Karlsson ('Khaos Legions') and the mix and mastering will done by Jens Bogren at his Fascination Street mixing facility.
"Musically, this album is going a few places we haven't visited before. As our fans have come expect, our albums have all had their own vibe and 'War Eternal' will leave its own mark. Lyrically it's a much more personal record, and I feel the songs have more dynamics and depth than ever before. The songs are loaded with strong and vicious metal, drenched in tons of melody and emotion. All the trademarks of Arch Enemy are present, just more in your face and turned up to 11."
The new album will be titled "War Eternal," and Michael explains: "A lot of times life is a struggle, a war against what I like to call 'mental chains' in society that try to prevent you from living life the way you want, that try to stop you from making your dreams come true. I have always resented that and I always will. The title sums up our collective attitude a band as well; stages will be destroyed, eardrums will bleed. There will be no choice. This, ladies and gentlemen, is 'War Eternal'..."

Arch Enemy Releases New Music Video
Arch Enemy's "Khaos Legions" campaign moves forward with a new video for the song “Cruelty Without Beauty” from the latest album, along with more tour dates to spread the Khaos worldwide. Check out the clip through Revolvermag.com here or in the player below.
Angela Gossow comments: “I’m very pleased we got this video done for one of my favourite songs off the Khaos Legions album. The video is quite raw and extreme as it reflects the lyrics very well I believe, dealing with a subject matter close to my heart - animal cruelty and vivisection.
"We want to thank the good folks at Peta2, Hardforce, Metalitalia and The Metal Circus for supporting a serious subject. All of us have been well aware that a video like this doesn’t find everybody’s acceptance. But rock music was always more than guitar riffs – it’s also the voice of the voiceless.
"The autumn will be busy with more Arch Enemy European shows including 4 shows in Spain with special support from extreme metal legends Voivod. The year will close with a South America tour ending in Mexico City (where despite the Mayan Calendar the world doesn’t end). The band hopes to see you somewhere!" More...

Arch Enemy Posts "Under Black Flags We March" Clip
Before the Swedish metal powerhouse went to Asia and Australia to present the latest album ”Khaos Legions” (reviewed here) for an ongoing world tour, Arch Enemy found time to finish the 3rd video for ”Under Black Flags We March.” The video was once again produced by the Swedish director Patric Ullaeus (In Flames, Dimmu Borgir, etc.) and is the first video to feature the new guitarist Nick Cordle (from the US band Arsis) who replaced Chris Amott earlier this year.
The video is being premiered worldwide through the website of Metal Hammer Germany. Watch the video at this location or in the player below.
Michael Amott (guitar) comments on the video: ”It was a pleasure as always to work with our friend Patric Ullaeus on this video, which will be the fourth clip he's made for us and he really is a consummate professional – truly excellent stuff! He's captured a very suitable and cool vibe on this one too. The track itself, ’Under Black Flags We March’, is a song that we've played at every Arch Enemy show since we released the 'Khaos Legions' album last year, we love playing it as it's a change of pace in our frantic live set and it's going down really well with audiences worldwide too.
"We felt this pounding metal anthem deserved a visual companion, so here it is! A couple of things to listen out for: we had a our new guitarist Nick Cordle throw down a little lick on the song and had audio master Andy Sneap remix the song a little… So, a few minor tweaks here and there to make it something special for this visual/sonic assault! Under Black Flags We March!” More...
